Also, I don't think the sex of a character hardly matters. Is the main character male or female? Why would that lesson or increase the appeal of a game? We've had our fair share of games with main/major characters of both genders.
As an experiment I played WoW as a female to see how different I would be treated, and I'm still like WTF?? Its really us men that are always bringing up the gender debate.
Women are just people like us men
Everyone kept bowing, and blowing kisses at me - doing all sorts of antics to get my attention. What person male or female wants to deal with that crap going about their business.
There's a flip side to this coin though, which is that I had people doing things for me that encourages being lame. One guy I did a 'brb' with just to see how long he'd wait. I used the bathroom, made a sandwhich, watched a show, came back and he was still waiting.
Further, all the noble talk is also rather pathetic. "I'll always be here", etc... etc... If I were girl, every online game I play I'd play as a guy. The favor slave aspect is nice, but thats about the only perk
I started converting all my CD's to MP3 a few years back, and I haven't gone back to the originals since I stored them a couple of years ago.
Encoding in the same format and having an organized directory tree keeps life simple also - Artist->Album>Tracks. I started encoded @ 192, and decided to switch 320kbps about a year ago.
Going with something very openly accepted makes life easier. Everyone does MP3, but a lot of people are really down OGG. (Perhaps someone below me can go more into OGG and why it might be better in the long term over MP3.)
I've found a lot of really rare recordings over the years - mostly @320, and I'd hate to loose these gems... so backups are important. Nothing elaborate - if you work with Macs backup.app through.Mac works good, or rsync to another drive.
Having all my media available digitally is the best. I can take my entire collection with me anywhere, give to friend when they go 'I gotta get a copy of that from you', and it'll still sound fresh even when my adult diaper doesn't:)
Internet cafe's are all the rage in Thailand. Nobody really owns PC's/laptops, and really can't to afford anyway. The only applications people really seem to use is IE, AIM, and word. The younger generation is into games, but that only requires directx these days.
Only the tourists load/use progams that require a fully functional Windows box. Me thinks this is MS's way of bridging the gap between CE & XP from a revenue point of view, since no one can afford CE based devices either.
I've found that over the years buying just about anything online, within reasonable shipping charges, is much more efficent than going out.
Recently I was looking for a book from my youth. Not knowing the name, but having something of an idea of what it was, allowed me to locate the ISBN number - punch that into google, and find 4 bookshops across the US (+1 one in the UK) that carried 3 different editions of what I wanted. With shipping, it cost me $10.
Overall it took about 30 minutes to locate it, which I considered much better than driving/calling around town, repeating the same thing over & over again, having to induldge in mindless conversation about it, and if I do find it - pay all sorts of fees to have them import for me.
There is also the human factor when buying in person, like overcharging me to death, should a keen salesperson realize just how bad I wanted to buy that book/product-in-question. It also works vice versa by allowing the vendor to get the maximum amount of money at fair market value for the product they are offering, without having to deal with people trying to negiotiate for the sake of negiotaiting.
Back in 1983 when my parents got me Return Of The Jedi off the bootleg dealers in NYC, the quality was garbage.
Those same people are still on the Broadway, Queens Blvd, FlatBush ave, etc... selling bootleg copies everyday.
Alls the MPAA is pissed off about is that now I can get really really good DVD quality bootlegs - without having to leave my house.
If the MPAA/RIAA is going to bitch, moan, cry, and then sue - it mind as well be equal opportunity. Just going after the file sharing folk is like me using nmap looking for netbus boxes and calling myself a hacker.
Its an easy kill, no different than a script kiddie.
Is the US goverment going to allow companies that flat out disregard ethical, moral, and legal standards - only to drag things out in court to an eventual settlement.
This only continues to enforce that if you have enough money, time, and lawyers - you can side step anything.
We are a nation that continues to contradict ourselves. This isn't surprising given that our entire foundation is built on a contradiction claiming that we are rightous while the actions our goverment continues to be nefarious.
1) Anakin brings back balance by turning to the darkside, and creating a level playing field for dark vs. light (his massive power against all the jedi).
2) The force is brought back into balance because the whole time it was out of balance with Vader being the icing on the cake, and got back into balance because the good guys finally got their shit together. (with a case of poetic justice was led by his son)
If this goes through, how could someone go about getting involved with the project?
I know its a broad question, but I wouldn't mind having something to do with a 20 year space exploration project... even if its just to mars (for now).
Sometimes when someone shoots their mouth off, then again, and again, and maybe one more time for fun... you just got to confront em.
His letter was straight forward, to the point, and he is definilty helping the Linux community with his current attitude of not caring what SCO say - and keeping moral up (not that it needed it).
Its a start, and thats what this whole mess needed. We can't ignore it, cause they won't shut up about it - so to SCO in the infamous words of Snoop Dogg:
"Right back up in your motherfuckin' ass"
I agree that this whole situation is nonsense, and shouldn't be going even close to as far as it has gone - but right now the industry has no choice left but to stand our ground and fight back.
SCO continues to talk nonsense everyday... when they are confronted directly they dodge it, ignore it, or hide behind their lawyers with it... Then they switch gears, and start talking more shit to provoke the same response.
I am glad to see someone catch there ass out there, no matter how small, and hope this will encourage other places to do the same.
Whatever happens to SCO at this point they brought on themselves.
It would be good PR to make it the G5 - sending out a message that Motorola, IBM, and Apple are still playing nice with each other.
Since Steve Jobs likes to do very powerful (for lack of a better word) presentations - it would be hard to go nuts over the new product name without inadvertently rubbing Motorla's face in the mud... If they are indeed going with IBM's design.
I am certain that Mortorla had some input on this - but IBM has always been opposed to the G4 processor in favor the getting every clock cycle they can out the G3.
Going with the G5 product name reminds me of a dysfunctional family getting together to take a picture with all smiles.
Entirely off topic - but its also worth mentioning that not only did DR-DOS kick ass... but managed to piss of MS-DOS (and PC-DOS) marketing departments by always releasing a full version number ahead of MS-DOS (with PC-DOS just following MS-DOS).
Everyone is just about in agreement, including the press (even the bad ones), that this lawsuit has zero merit.
Rather than backpedal - SCO is just adding to the fire by now talking about going after Linus.
What could, or is, the real motivation behind this/these kind of stupid lawsuits? What does SCO really hope to gain from this - besides a quick settlement which isn't going to happen as IBM has already said.
Is this just a simple case of SCO just being pissed that they lost market share - or are the patients really running the asylum there?
You have to realize that in Thailand $450 is 18,550 Baht - which by Thai standards is about 2 months rent for a pretty small apartment in the city.
You could get all the bells and Whistles with a laptop such as DVD, Wifi, etc... but chances are you will never use any of it if you are a Thai native (no AP's anywhere, they watch VCD's, etc...)
Which is why Internet Cafe's are all the rage in Thailand - cost is 1 Bhat per minute (0.02 cents USD).
Thailand is still a developing country, espically in the technology field. A good portion of the country (despite how beautiful it is) is still 3rd world like.
As bills like this are sponcered by our publicly elected officals - I can't help but think that "we the people" do not have any input as to what is acutally happening with the whole DRM/MPAA/RIAA non-sense.
The majority of Americans who's stock and trade crosses paths with the DMCA appear to be strongly against it - yet corporations still wine/dine/donate to these politations that we apparently elected to push such pro-police state laws.
Would it be fair to say that are elected officals only agenda is to do whatever the mega-corporation of the week has to say should be law?
Are there actually elected officals who are are looking out for the common person's liberties, and such? If so, why are there not more of them?
The people have spoken, we do not want a revamped DMCA - as we didn't even want the original DMCA... Yet the original DMCA passed??? That doesn't sound very democratic to me.
Steve Jobs will use his time travel machine to go into the future to get the PPC970 powerbook - just like he did to bring Mac OS X to market before 2015.
I am a network admin. when I find porno on someone's machine what I do about really depends on whether you are a dick or not.
As far as child porn goes I can see how the company would fire the admin who called the cops. The company is just pissed the admin didn't go through them first... so he was maken an example of.

I have no idea, but recall seeing that on the back a t-shirt around '97.
George Lucas explains on the EPIV DVD commentary that the reason the falcon is so fast is because of its navigational computer.
While it makes sense, I am sure there is plenty of room for continuity errors.

I never understood the balance, it is...
