Verizon has the right to do business with this guy or not. This guy decided to find the line between what Verizon would accept and what it wouldn't. He found it and now has to pay for a higher level of service with Verizon or decide to pay another vendor for Internet. Sounds fair to me.
BTW for those complaining about Unlimited plans... they aren't charging for an "overage" they just don't want to do business with him anymore.
Here's the thing with OS X. I have bought every version since 10.0( to be fair I think I got 10.1 for free because I bought 10.0 ) and believe the ruler that these should be measured by is that a month after I install the New OS I wouldn't go back.
I am telling friends to buy a mac for exactly the opposite reason. Buy the mac and try it out... if you don't like it you can always put Windows on there. I am convinced that they will come to believe that the Mac/OS X are better anyway and keep using it.
I suspect that Job's talent is more in the rejection rather than the creation of new products. Job's has an amazing ability to see crap, identify it and reject it without worrying about how much money has been spent in developing it!
This is a bogus argument. I block pop-ups but still see the ad on the top of the page as well as the adds on the sides of the pages. I have even clicked on these looking for information. I don't remember if I've bought anything, but I have looked.
So/. has benefited from my viewing of it's content. For that matter so has their ad service!
By telling me that I am damaging a web site by not allowing them to fill my screen with windows with ads is short sighted and stupid.
I would say, that for the small business, Tiger is a super choice.
Maybe not on the desktop but as an office server. The hype has been going to the Client version, but OS X server should really be a hit.
Why? Support for native windows ACL's! You will no longer be limited to the Posix User, Group, Everyone permissions. Easy of setup. There is one interface to control all of the Apple supported Services( AFP, SMB, Web, Application Server, Mail ). XGrid...XSan.... the list goes on.
I can see it now.
Mr. Kerry...how often do you beat your wife?
This is bull from a company that doesn't even have news on it's station here in St. Louis. Apparently Sinclair only cares about news one day every 4 years.
hmmm.
Getting the hardcover book also has it's attraction. Just for the Diagram of the President's Cabinet...with the last TAB machine in existance.
Either way get/listen to the book. It's about the best civics book ever and should be in our schools. ( scary )
Greg
In my experience the artifacting is mostly due to the equipment it's recorded on. The digital broadcast of the Olympics was almost unwatchable due to this. On the other hand news broadcasts and college football all show up fine.
YMMV
I would like to second that. Mine was ordered on March 5 and was supposed to ship 4/30. May 1 rolls around and they changed my ship date to June 29. June frickin` 29 about 4 months after I ordered it.
For the most part I love Apple's stuff, but this is just bull. Tell me you are having delays...don't sneak it in after I've put off ordering a Dell to do the same job.
The interesting thing is that Novell appears to be getting a bit more Mac friendly. They are even Beta testing an OS X native Groupwise client. This would provide a great step forward for mixed environments wishing to have groupware functionality for all of their users.
Sorry to say this but "ballsy" has gotten two Space Shuttle's blown up.
I know it's hard to be patient, but they have plenty of time to get the rover off it's platform. No-one will be happy with two weeks of pictures of the rover stuck on it's own balloons.
Why are the people who started Linux Gazette supposed to just abandon a brand they have worked hard to create? It has been their contributions of articles not SSC's dubious contribution of some free hosting. Though the Linux Gazette probably should have paid a token fee just to keep this sort of thing from happening $1/year ).
The bottom line though is that the Linux Gazette people contributed to the brand. SSC did not. Therefore there exists no reason they should abandon it.
Hear, hear! Having done both Developement and System Administration gives you a great understanding about how silly both sets of people are.
As a developer, I have always found that a little bit of bribery( a candy bar or soda ) gives you a chance to plead your case. Additionally, it puts the person you are talking to in a receptive mood. I have gotten root access to machines simply by explaining my problems and giving them options. It doesn't always work but most people aren't assholes on purpose.
On the other hand, as a System Administrator of a several production systems, I always tried to stay engaged with my developers. I spent time and effort to educate my developers about how everything was configured. Even then I had developers demand, in person with no prior notice, to do something stupid. In these cases I always asked what problem they were trying to solve before telling them no. I then would provide them with an acceptable alternative and explain why one worked for me and why one didn't.
Maybe I was an asshole, but my systems stayed running!
SCO has a Market capitalization of $718.5 million right now. IBM and Apple could pull this out of petty cash and finish this once and for all. Buy their shit and put it in the public domain.

To quote Mel Brooks... "Don't be stupid / Be a smarty / Come and join the Nazi party!"
How many "Weapons of Mass Destruction" did we find when we illegally invaded Iraq? A sovereign nation that hadn't done the US any harm?
None.
You might not like the UN, but the sanctions worked.

If you paid what it is worth, you'd send them $5 and a bag of skittles. "Taste the Rainbow!"

Best put down...ever!

I would think that it would be really sweet to take notes about a website as I navigated it. Right now I jot notes on paper.

My two cents!
