Maybe I should start looking for a job with Vonage? Fuck, I get my new health insurance tomorrow. 6 months with the company and we get bought out... literally to the day. Today is my 6 month anniversary with the company.
About 6 years ago my family decided to use AOL and billed its service to the Amex card. When it came time to cancel, AOL continued charging the card. No amount of phone calls, letters, certified letters and otherwise would get AOL to stop billing its then $19.95 to the card. We had to resort to cancelling the card entirely and having Amex issue a new one. I'm surprised it took this long for someone to take action against them and their ridiculous policies.
This story, rather then having some sarcastic remark regarding tax evasion and "Do no evil," should say hey "apparently these guys like their company."
Doing this is a symbol that they don't need to collect a salary for their work. Just as Stevie J takes $1/year salary from Apple, it's symbolic of their love of the company and their desire to coninue work without the carrot that drives most of the workforce. These men have considerable net worth which makes their additional salary seem paltry.
You honestly think they're worried about the tax liability on $150K dollars? Their tax liability thanks to their billionaire net worth and capital gains is more then their annual salaries was.
Basically, they don't need the money, Google already made them billionaires! Google can use it to hire a couple more non-billionaires, provide more free lunches or other random things that companies do with excess money.

You honestly think they're worried about the tax liability on $150K dollars? The tax liability on a large personal stock sales is probably more then their salary in 10 years!
Come on people, a $1 boost in Google's stock price is a larger loss or gain for these guys then most people take home in salary for a year! Basically, they don't need the money, Google already made them billionaires! Google can use it to hire a couple more non-billionaires, provide more free lunches or other random things that companies do with excess money.
I'm not sure if you're refering to your own desire to find a company that you can happily work for till retirement, or asking if there are companies like that out there.
There are plenty of companies that'd love to have an employee with as much experience as you've mentioned, and in addition, someone with the desire to work for the long term. Projects from start to finish are one thing, but people aren't sticking around for the long haul like they did generations back.
With outsourcing and mega job opportunities still pumping stock options and elevated pay (check Monster, there ARE companies actively seeking engineers and programmers, offering hugh pay incentives) people are jumping ship when it suits them, even if there seems to be a dearth of jobs for those of us w/o them.
Company mentalities are different in this post.com era, but I'm sure if you look hard and study well, you'll find someone who'd be as happy to keep you around till a ripe old age (again, DO research any company you're going to sign on with, talk to people who work there, read up on them a ton) and let your program your ass off till retirement.
The IRS.gov site mentions sytem upgrades being completed by the 18th, that will allow for the e-filing of your 2004 taxes.
As per the free, H&R Block and a number of other companies will allow you to e-file for free if you make under a certain amount of money, et al. I'm not sure about state taxes as FL has no state income tax.
Obtaining patents requires more effort then writing 'copyrighted' or (c) and thereby 'are more difficult to obtain.' In this context, the author or editor is correct.
Do I see bluetooth spam on the rise when this happens?
I mean imagine being able to spam 7 people at once instead of singles. Sounds like a pain to me!
I picked one of these up @ Office Depot while I was on a break from work...
Just happened to be roaming the isles and came across it and it seems like it might be something of interest for your lil project.

Then again I think this post is ridiculous...go bargain shopping w/ slashdot's help.
I recently purchased and returned a new GSM phone I bought from ATT Wireless. For the first 9 days after receipt of my phone, ATT was unable to activate the phone do to "our systems being down." After the first 24 hours I was annoyed, but to boot they couldn't process my return or even tell me if I had an account with them.
Needless to say (and concurant w/ my above statement) I sent the phone back and decided to stick with my old yet functional T-Mobile account. I'm not sure if it's related, but I know that ATT has continued struggling w/ their GSM account management system and this could include number portability on a whole.
ATT Wireless blows. Get a real GSM provider.
No, but I have a number that is important to my business. I need to keep it and thereby...i dealt with the calls. I didn't think I should have to and even employed services like 'Privacy Director' in my local area...but people keep calling....
Sunday is usually a good day for the many "financial" calls I receive. People who want to help me refinance with a second mortgage and get the value out of my home. Funny enough, I don't have a first mortgage, and I don't need the money anywho.
No calls at all today or pretty much this week. This is from a high tide of 10-15 calls PER DAY on a single phone line.
Relatively inexpensive, last a good while, and you can buy new cartidges and save the old pens. I have many of them littering my desk, blue, red, black and even aluminium cylinders for those rare times I have to write things out by hand. Great for signing checks as they don't bleed leak or smudge.
Aside from that, a fine felt tip or something in the liquid ink variety. These do leak and bleed when used on checks, so they're better for notes in the margin, etc.
Breaking the few computers you have for the sake of fending off addiction? How about dealing with socioeconomic issues instead of taking a beating out on your monitor?
don't get enough. The truth of the matter is this: goverment is *supposed* to be enpaneled to take the true issues of the people and rectify them. I do not see how paying for people as a whole, out of the taxes on the many result in a fair and balanced system.
I pay taxes, on everything but internet purchases. I pay them on my car ($3000), my daily purchases in county (6%), my house (more then I care to think), and even my income. I pay these things and recieve nothing back from the state I live in except for additional bills/law that want me to pay for more things.
The honest truth is this...I think I pay for enough. I pay for someone else's kid to go to school when I never went to public schools. I pay for welfare, and congressmen who don't represent me in true fashion (I'm gay...this state hates me for it moreso then they inact legislation to help me). The point is this: I pay enough. I pay enough for two people. And I pay it because I must. Because I'm told to, and because that's the way it is. But adding more to it, adding to the internet because the state isn't getting enough of my mother. That's BS. Cut back on the uselessness before you add more to what I have to pay.
Maybe I should start looking for a job with Vonage? Fuck, I get my new health insurance tomorrow. 6 months with the company and we get bought out... literally to the day. Today is my 6 month anniversary with the company.
Who you telling about "Old Belles" knowing more about the ancient systems then us young bucks?!?
This was many moons ago. We had to have the card number cancelled and a new number issued.

Hrm, seems like you haven't received an invite. Gmail does have POP support.

But it's beta, and his methodology is just plain wrong. I'm not one to jump up and defend MS, but WTF?
Fuck that. Some of us already pay 30% in income tax .
