Uh break the fan blades? It sounds like you are assuming this thing would have fans that are not enclosed in a nacelle housing of some kind, or simply inside the body with holes for airflow. Now if I was an astronaut I would find the idea of an autonomous sphere floating around with exposed fans under its own guidance somewhat unnverving to say the least. You would not want it to get jammed in your hair or to accidently run into more personal spaces. Might be somewhat more painful that the original Star Wars dron with its zapping lasers.

Yes something like this that is vacuum certified to also inspect exterior surfaces would be exceedingly useful for astronauts.
For example if they suspect damage to a section of the spacecraft they can simply send out one of these little guys to take a look. The alternative would be to spend several hours suiting up, outside in EVA and desuiting.
However these things are going to need an alternate propulsion system for vacuum as opposed to those fans (nothing to push against in space). A simple compressed air system would be perfect, and would also be safe for internal use if you just compressed the normal breathing mix.

Albiet it would alter the moons orbit slightly, but not enough to matter at all for us in the near future (several million (billion?) years)

I wonder how long the early steps evolution took before this was developed, as species that had shorter generations were capable of evolving faster than their long lived competitors..

Another water propelled toy I've seen around is this water-jet plane. Basicly it was a big styrofoam glider with a wingspan of about 2 meters. The fuselage of the plane held a plastic bottle that had a special cap with a nozzle and a snap release valve. To fly the plane you first filled about a 1/3 of bottle with water and pumped it up with a supplied cheap plastic pump. Once you had it up to pressure you put the bottle into the plane, then throw the whole thing into the air releasing the valve just as you did so. The glider would then fly up some distance under the water pressure and then glide back down to erth.

Hence there is nothing to be subpeoned for at all. This will protect both the board provider from being subpoened and the original poster too.
A central body to verify all boards procedures in doing this might be a good idea, so we can have a 'True Anonymous' rating for such systems.
