Dear god I hope that somebody indicted will be a congresman's son or daughter off at college. That's exactly what it'll take for these senators and representatives to call for an "Inquiry" into the legality of filing all these lawsuits and hopefully get some of them overturned.
I suspect heavy screening. You know what I mean. Cops don't give other cops speeding tickets. Benevolancy cards for the family so they don't give speeding tickets to them. Working for the gov't means you have a lot of people for bosses, such as chief of police, govenor's, mayors, senators etc etc...
Remember, the gov't above has many powers, even over the RIAA.
Actually, it depends. Are you a spectator or a player?
What about..... the glowing 1'st down line in american football... the ability for the coach to communicate directly to the QB?... new equpitment built from the sciences of other things
I came from a Maths/Science background, and though those in these fields are traditionally considered clumsy in verbal skills, their arguments usually are logical, if blunt.
But blunt is good! Just say what you mean and if you need resources to back them up, quote them. Or better yet, provide other proofs. Problem is, a lot of people just don't get it when making analogies.
But you are right, there are exceptions to the rules, for and against analogies.
My favourite is,
{ Books, CDs, DVDs } you need to buy, but the electronic versions should be free, since you can have libraries etc. They love to miss the point that, when you have a book, it's not in broadcast mode, as if you put the text online.
However, no matter who says it, I want to scream when I hear any and everything "explained" by analogy with cars. What is it with Americans that they have to describe everything as being like a car?
Because cars and houses have so many bloody features, that it's so easy to make analogies to them. This includes theft, playing them loudly, broadcasting, wardriving.. and whatever-else.
Can we PLEASE stop using analogies? They don't work unless you are either, really proficient in English studies. Includes near perfect score on verbal SAT's or studying it in school as a profession or teaching it.
Problem is, slashdoters don't usually use the "higher end" ideas, such as irony, analogies and such correct. If you want to make your point, just make it.
wifi is nothing like having a car. It's like a line of communication, just like a voice call or using walkie talkies. Unless you use code (read some form of encryption), anyone listen in. But if your machine is open (read car door open) to breaking in) so you can find said keys, the whole point is useless.
You should see it. There's a seen where the hero gives one of the enemy characters a challenge, "To the death."
He takes the goblets of drink in front of them, hides them behind his back, does something, and presents them back to the enemy with a challenge. "One of these goblets is now poisoned."
The one for you, one for me thing reminded me of that scene. You should see it. Good movie. I won't spoil the movie by telling you the resolution to THAT one, but then again, you can google it easily enough.
Contracts and though you haven't said it, court battles, occur all the time. It's not all out of malice. A contract to make a movie may not necessarily protect her and HER rights, but the movie maker and THEIR rights. Unless you've seen what was in the contract, it could say anything from:
"I release license of 'Harry Potter' for 7 movies only, which are all under MY approval. This is not a transfer of rights. All production must pass my approval first"
to..
"I'm a consumer whore! Sell it!"
to..
"Time Warner is allowed to make 7 harry potter movies and only 7. It is not a transfer of rights, and Ms Rowling maintains all ownership. This contract is so that she can see her creation hit the big screen and she has creative say on what is good and not good for the movie."
It's not a matter of 'selling out" but a matter of preventing people from reneging on their wishes and suing the crap out of each other. It's a pestimist move.
No.. it's a servlet server. It implements the servlet 2.x spec AND http. It does a lot of memory management, security and stuff that apache wasn't intended for.
It might be better to compare it to apache+mod_php/perl, which accomplish the same thing, just not to the extent that tomcat has.
for a registrar to ask a registry (verisign com/net, affilias/pir org, neuleval biz/name?) to reserve a domain... it costs then $4 on average.
RCOM and Verisign charge $35. There's a lot of moolah going to the bigger registrars out there. With terrible systems and support, no wonder these companies stay affloat, while godaddy charges about $8 and stays afloat. Hrm...
It's about 1500 for a basic G4 tower. About 1000 for an ibook. Now granted, you can get more for the money in PC hardware, I'd say, it's roughly 1500 for a mac, not 2000.:)
That's ok. Eventually, it'll be stated that the decission actually went the other way due to vote counting to be inaccurate. THEN we'd have to have a recount. Of course, that recount would require a lot of judicial meetings etc etc...
/tongue in cheek

Backstreet boys, N'Sync and other boy bands?
Creed, Nickleback and other "rock bands"?
50-cent and DMX?
I wonder if record companies will accept mistakes when differentiating between these artists

And you can guess IPSec keys too, eh? :) There are effective standards, just the majority doesn't use them. 802.x works well when you use a VPN.

Didn't you see "The Princess Bride"?
"Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line... "
Knowing past history? yes.

That's a bit harsh yourself.

'cause it was fark'd first. www.fark.com had it before slashdot did.

That's the money spin of things.... but what about the time constraint? When do you make back the money you've spent on said investment?
