There's a huge difference between a credit card and a debit card. A debit card transaction affects the balance of your bank (or paypal) account.
You should *never* use a debit card *anywhere*. Why you might ask? "But they are so popular! Everyone is doing it!"
Just wait until a drunken bartender, rushed register clerk, or malicious waitress adds an extra digit to your transaction and you're suddenly bouncing checks or being charged fees for your overdraft protection.
Because I have very little use for one of these? My credit card already protects me from fraudulent charges and I'm not worried in the least if someone uses it two states away for gas. If Chase makes me call them when I'm going outside of my "home area" so they don't shut me off, then I'm not concerned if someone steals the card number after I make a purchase online at Newegg.
If someone uses the card locally, big deal. I call Chase and tell them that the card was stolen and the charge wasn't mine. Not many questions asked.

For me it never froze (granted I didn't play it "all day long") but it took forever to load. I really wasn't interested in wasting my time standing at the machine waiting 5 minutes for a shitty demo to load.

Why break something that works pretty well as it is? I have heard some complaints from longtime Blogger users that they may have to use Picasa to now do their images. That worries them because of the free image unlimited image hosting that Blogger used to provide.
Personally, I don't like Blogger or the integrations that Google has done and that's why it gets a "ho-hum" from me. It has nothing to do w/Google "sitting on it".
If MS/Novell create a better samba derived from the samba team's GPL code, they *must* provide access to the source code. Any improvements MS/Novell make to samba are guaranteed to become available to us, and they can never take it away.
Then they'll just link to an external library that hides all the new functionality.

To answer your final question: they are going to use it to make more money.
It was a good movie for its time IMHO. It was definitely more geeky than those "geek" movies that followed (The Net, Hackers, etc). I certainly enjoyed it then and will still sit through it if it happens to be playing on a boring Saturday afternoon.

If MS were to incorporate free content (sans DRM), offer MUCH larger hard drives for the 360 (120 GB+), and improve their interface (adding search capability, and RSS feed-like subscription option, etc. like iTunes) they would be the kings.
Just like the PSP, the 360 is owned by a very small percentage of people and thus it's not going to succeed.
If you don't like OS X, why not install Linux on that machine? Then at least your configuration files will be where you expect them.
I have a Linux machine already and from what everyone says, Macs are the best. I'm trying, I really am but I just can't see why everyone is so excited about them when it just isn't any different from any other OS.
I come from an OS/2, Windows, and Linux (some X but mostly CLI as of recent) background. I have a Mac (because of the Mini) and I just cannot get used to using it. In fact, I dislike it in almost every single way. The only reason it continues to be my desktop machine is because my SMP box has a bad CPU fan on one of the chips and I'm too cheap to replace both.

I routinely outrank local businesses that I write about on my site. Generally these businesses are unknown to Google and if I don't link to their actual site (it may not exist prior to me posting about them and them subsequently finding out that I gave them an unfavorable review).
I have watched local businesses like Divinci's Pizza go in and out of business while trying to gain top Google ranking. I have also had pissed off business owners post to my site trying to prove that they aren't as bad as I said they were.
Why am I ranked higher? Probably because of Slashdot and the various other blogs that link back to me (I'm somewhere around 270 links). Other than that, who the fuck knows.

Cry me a river, how often do you actually need to restart?
While I 100% agree with your "cry me a river" statement, some of us have to shutdown and restart at least daily for work. I come in to work, start the computer and go down the hall to get mail, etc. I don't have a clue how long it takes to boot but I'm certainly not complaining about it.
Ah, because they don't need human interaction in order to check for you passing between the gates. If someone is sitting at a computer monitor with a stopwatch mechanism and times you between the gates and calculates that you are speeding, I have no problems with the "technology" (as it's just like VASCAR over a longer distance).
What I do have a problem with is automated systems to do this job (i.e. lowjacking cars) so that it's fast and easy to make revenue.
Actually there probably will be. My coworkers on XP spend surprising amounts of time staring at the screen waiting for the machine to allow user input again - inproving this WILL improve productivity by a few minutes a day. The ones that do not suffer this have dual processor systems.
Well, at work I use Access and am frequently staring at the screen waiting for it to allow input (and frequently hoping it won't hang the rest of the system). I have a feeling that Vista won't stop that behavior unless they have changed how Access behaves under it.

If you can buy it in Russia for $10,000 and pay the importation fees (Internet access), then I don't see what the problem is.
