"Firstly, the question isn't "why not", it's "why"."

I dont know if i believe that you get no information on what the benefits are, cause here in Denmark we are considering a biometric ID card too and theres lots of advantages which has been mentioned.

Firstly a biometric ID card ensures that you get a more trustworthy identification then a ID card with no biometric information, mayby some old photo or not even a photo at all!

Secondly you can store alot of information safely on the card because to show the information you need to be the right person to activate it. Atleast thats how the danish card will work, not completely sure its the same for the british.

Last week some journalists here in Denmark showed how easy it was to get hold of a stolen ID card (health security, which isent a photo ID) and then using it to get new ID cards like passport, drivers licence. These new ID cards would then have your correct picture on it (or whatever picture that looked remotely like you) but the other persons name, by using the stolen card as ID (impossible to check it didnt belong to the right person). Even if the stolen ID card had a photo on it, its pretty easy to find someone who remotely looks like the person on the card, and then just explain that its an old photo or something if anyone asks.

That would not be possible with a biometric ID card (assuming its working as intented). Atleast it would be alot harder, which is also a good thing!

The easy part is making a lixnx server version of a game, primarely because you dont need to worry about graphics and other hardware calls (DirectX). Many multiplayer games already have this. An example is Counter-Strike where almost all servers are run on linux.

The hard part is making the client version for linux because stuff like DirectX isent made for linux. Sure some people are trying to make a system so DirectX games can run on linux but last i heard it was far from perfect.

So its making the linux server thats simple, not the client.

Its fairly easy to interfer with radio communication, thus radio control as the only option is a bad idea if you want to use it in hostile environments, like war.

You most likely could prevent enemy forces from controlling your vehicle, by means of encrypting the data, but i dont see how you can prevent them from jamming the signals to the vehicle. Even only partial interference with the radio signal could be fatal for the vehicle.

Windows is used by soo many more people then any other OS that it's silly to try to exploid anything but windows, since you would hit almost everyone with an exploid aimed at windows. You should know that already.

Like 91% of everyone who searches on google use windows according to this page: http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html
I think linux gathers 1% in that statistic and i guess unix is in the 5% other, which signals its under 1% for unix, quite insignificant. You would never hit the news (not tech news) with an exploid for unix like you can with one for windows.

I personally dont know anyone who uses OS X, so i cant comment on how good it is, but the reason you dont see virus for OS X is probably thats its not as widely used as XP. Why write a virus with severely limited targets compared to a virus for XP? It probably wouldnt even make the headlines even if it infected a large part of all OS X systems. Also you can easily access your files with just 1 click in XP. Like if you want to open windows explorer in your 'Download' dir on the D drive you just set D:\Download in the Target line of windows explorer. You can also drag a shortcut out onto the desktop if you want. Mayby it takes 5 steps the very first time untill you configure it the way you like, but your cant satisfy everyone with the same configuration. You can offer as many desktop solutions as you want but you have to make a really really good solution if you want to knock windows down from the throne. I personally dont see that happen.

ESDF is superior to WASD i find. First of all there is the marker on the F key (on most keyboards i know) so you will always know if you have the right keys without looking after you have used some of the secondary keys. Second of all it distributes the other keys more even on both sides of the movement keys. Like with WASD you only have Q on the left and ERTFG on the right for secondary keys. With ESDF you have QWA on the left and RTG on the right... So for people moving from the arrow keys i suggest ESDF instead of WASD even tho this has become the default many places.
