I thought Vuze was already doing network positioning. Why use Ono? Well, as Ledlie, et al have shown, Vuze network coordinates are, too put it mildly, terribly inaccurate. In our own independent measurements, we found that only 10% of the network coordinates had less than 10% error. More than 60% had errors of 100% or more! Besides, unlike traditional network positioning systems, Ono doesn't require active network path measurement to determine relative locations in the network. Only infrequent DNS lookups are needed.
Capitalism, pure and simple. Corporate greed, they want maximum returns on investment.
If they can charge you $20/m for dial up on their current infrastructure why change - there is no real competition. Local councils get sued by telco's instead of the telco's building infrastructure
I think it has more to do with corporate greed, go the free market. When you have monopolies that have no reason to upgrade or compete you don't move ahead. Especially when they have enough money to donate lots to politicians.
The problem is the link between the router and the ADSL modem is 10Mbt, the router which is doing the traffic shapping, it keep pumping out packets to the modem at 10Mb rate. the modem starts to drop packets once its queue is full:(
use it in bridge mode and do the QOS at the point where the bridge is terminated!
Why is it if you make off with Billions of dollars like madoff you get home arrest.
But if you lock people out of a computer system and cost them maybe $5-10million you get stuck in jail.
This guys says he is innocent, madoff said he was guilty.
Got to love the american judicial system
Is any one really surprised by this, I am not
M$ = communism - every thing behind closed doors
open source = democracy - everything in the open
just can't explain the bush era
Hey guys why is any one surprised, they have done it before they will do it again
I think it is time for the users / buyers of audio and video to strike. Not to buy anything new for 1 week. Let us show them how pissed of we are.
United we stand !
have to agree, hate their lock in stuff.
It will be a long time before I buy any sony equipment again
Welcome to capitalism, and american democracy, where pollies can be bought.
Consumer comes last, big business first and freedom of choice - what choice !
About bloody time
So the ISP, can't get away with charging the users more, they obviously can't charge google any more, they will just go somewhere else .
Seems to me like everyone is already paying for their data.
They just want their cake and they want to eat it as well.
I guess they have seen the music/video industry buy legislation they want some too
that seems to contradict what they say on their site

You mean they are going to have to work for it. Ha, the only work it seems like they are doing is talking to their lawyers.
The bit thats the most important is the kick back clause, the pollies don't want you to see how much they are getting for signing on the dotting line.
What happened to government for the people. sounds like government for the companies now
Sounds like another american business group, with a flawed business model.
1) Over promise / don't deliver
2) Don't invest in the future
3) When the users get sick of it sue them when they try and do
4) Cry foul cause you monopoly goes away
5) buy off the politicians
on debian
m-a update

Wait, soon there will be ads for Judge Dred
Why would the ruling class want to allow this sort advancement into the hands of the people ?

From the ashes of AT&T, I give you AT&T :)
Wireless is not the solution, its a shared medium it will saturate much faster than multiple strands of fibre
God I hope it rains for the whole time
Name and shame the committee member that voted for this. How much of a kick back did they get !
The subject says it all.
America is all about suing, maybe they will sue iran instead of going to war
