I played 250 hrs as one character in Morrowind without ever finishing the main plot. You can complete the main quest if you like, but it doesn't "end" the game in any meaningful way.

Motorstorm is a nice break from adventuring and shooting (Resistance: FoM) when I just feel like tearing up some dirt. Resistance I've logged about 400 online battles in and am working my way through the single player game on hard mode right now.

More games? I don't have time :-) lol I'm happy with what Sony's brought me so far, and I'm happy with what's coming down the pipes.

IPv6 works beautifully in an Intranet and LAN environment with autoconfiguration. IPv6 registries and routing are a problem however because nobody's* doing it.

At $70 each with no price drop yet, I own Oblivion, Resistance and Motorstorm and that's it for my budget till closer to Christmas. Then it'll be a toss-up for Ratchet or Lair or something.

There aren't hundreds or thousands of good games for the PS3, but there are quite a few and considering it hasn't been out a year yet, that's pretty impressive. Does anyone remember what the original games for the PS2 were like? Now compare with God of War 2 and think about that a minute.

Sure, older TVs won't have component of course, its a relatively new connection for TVs that really only took off with HDTV but it still existed on older high quality TVs to bump the picture quality up over S-Video or Composite.

We've debated this in the office many times. The problem with a 3 drive live scenario is the activity levels on the spare drive. It leaves the risk of a catastrophic two-drive failure during rebuild, yes, but I think it depends on the application.

It seems that all the advances have been made on finding the optimum arrangement for this dictionary based on the text they have to process ... the 100MB enwik8 file. A different file will need a different dictionary.

That's not at all true in a multi-pass codec of course. An optimal dictionary can of course be computed by the algorithm itself either before or after compression (for example by re-optimizing its dictionary). Its slower, sure, but if optimal algorithms are your thing and speed isn't an issue, try data-analysis passes.

You knew then and know now that its too expensive, but that's a stupid thing to admit in public if you want to sell them. Since there are people obviously willing to spend that much (early adopters and all that), sell them at the higher price until you can afford the price cut then cut prices to where you'd like them to be.

I see no problem with Sony denying price cuts until they happen -- it would negatively affect sales of already-shipped units and their retailers would be quite upset at them.
