Good points! Anyway the Bad Guys(tm) all ready know how to make or buy explosives, the Smart Guys(tm) also know how but don't or if they do they use them where they can't hurt anything. The cops and Feds or whatever they have in Germany might say they stop terrorist but they don't; however they DO stop stupid kids from blowing the legs of there friend's cat. Same goes for the USA

A small battery pack for the Zaurus can be made with 4 AA batteries. It lasts about 8 hours and spare ones are easy to get/buy/recharge. Yea most users don't want to build something and if you mess up you can fry the boards inside the Z but if done right external battery packs work great.

You are right! Why is it that XBOX and PS2 are so popular? Because no thinking skills are needed. Why install a game when you can just pop it in the drive? I think a lot of people would like it if a computer was a TV that you could IM on.

In my school the 'comp class' is taught in English as a side thing. Our teacher gets out the projector and shows us 'advanced' stuff in Word like how to save on a server. And a lot of people still save in the wrong place. A science teacher had a Unix Networking book on his desk and a telnet link on his desktop. Why can't he teach the computer class instead of some stupid english teacher? A few weeks ago we had to write As to some computer Qs. Things like: What is a browser? I wrote 3 pharagraphs on how a browser gets and renders HTML using the HTTP and how that is carried over a TCP/IP conection. When we turned it in she just glanced over it and wrote A+. Most people copied and pasted from a FAQ online and they got an A+ too. Are computer skills becoming thought of like turning on a TV and changing the chanel? No many people have even a basic understanding of how a TV works but have huge flatscreens. What happens when the are only a few coders left because everyone else is IMing all day?

SG: You don't need that! Go to Kazaa and download it...

Sister: The computer is slowww! Fix it! Fix it!

Me: Um why are you downloading 15 songs at once over a 56K?

Sister: That makes it faster stupid...

Me: Thinking: *must not use LART* On my sister's box there is a little icon that flashes in the system tray. She thinks that the more it flashes the faster the conection is. Of course it shows how many packets are coming in...

So what happens when a terrorist with a bomb explodes the plane over a city as it is landing or taking off. Having a 3 inch steel wall protecting the pilot will not help in that case. We need both bomb screening AND pilot protection but NOT this "no fly" shit

I dream of a world where everyone uses whatever operating system they want but all users are educated about using the right tool for the task. I hope that DRM is seen as the evil idea it is and abolished. People WILL, after a few years, find alternitives to these companies that treat them like unwashed apes. If you buy a car does the dealer or manufactor say what you can and can't do in your own car? Yes laws do tell us not to speed but a dealer should not force you too agree not to say sleep in your parked car because they also sell inflatible beds. Even worse are companies that monitor your breathing rate and when it drops turns on a loud alarm to wake you up. To just about everyone that kind of agreement would seem crazy but yet with software products no one in high places seem to understand that selling a few trilion ones and zeros is the same as buying a car. Yes you can't copy a car but you still have fair use rights and the same should apply for software.

What is somewhat freaky is when companies get it right. I just got a large cosumer reports magazine all about computer type stuff. The only problem is that it was newbie junk like "See how each of these anti-hacker tools preform when we put them to the test." and "AOL provides cheap relible Internet service for web-savy users."
