um you do realise they can't track about 70% of the cell phones currently in use right.
triangulation takes time 10-15 minutes at a minimum. so unless your phone broadcasts e911 gps they don't know where you are. And even if you are broadcasting e911, that doesn't mean the 911 dispatcher you have connected to has similar abilities to receive it. The dispatcher won't hang up but can do nothing until someone tells them where they are. So no the cops won't be on their way until someone knows where to send them.
ultimately 911, operators should be able to receive and send phone calls, multimedia texts, GPS data from the phones, and have someone create a video phone standard and add that as well.
The more information one has the better. However most people don't realize just how little good information is actually told to 911.
shareholders of google do not pay Ireland's taxes. MSFT doesn't pay dividends so there isn't much for shareholders to get taxed on until they sell.
If you compare dollars earned vs dollars taxed, as percentages the average toilet cleaner gets taken to the crap hole. They lose 20% plus of their income, while google loses about 3% of their income for any given area. instant millionaires get a one time major hit, however most aren't instant millionaires and earn their money over timewith lots of deductions for anything they can think of they may end up paying only 10% of their income back in taxes. The difference is they can afford to hire someone to help them sort out the best way to do that, while the toliet cleaner spends a few hours trying to do the math themselves as they can't afford to hire someone.
Very True, but many things in life you don't need content creation of more than a couple sentences. I have at work three journals full of nothing but names, phone numbers, and items that they want but I have to find for them. to anyone else it is a jumbled mess to me it is the last years worth of customer special requests. They often don't fill up five lines of a page.
Most of the outside salesmen in business i know are switching to ipads. because 99% of their work isn't content creation but short notes to do later. the ability to show a new product from the web helps too, but most of it is because they can type out a quick note of
"Find bob @ mack enterprises, pricing on part number abc1234, abc3456 and abc6789"
why do you need a full keyboard for that? and that is what salesmen and marketing needs. So I would say that is a very strong business case. The fact you don't understand that part means you really don't understand how businesses actually work. I suggest you try to do someone else's job and learn more before mouthing off.
Keyboards will never truly go away. they are much to fast and work well for their purpose. however image manipulation, movie manipulation, music manipulation are tasks not well suited to the standard keyboard, or mouse. you can type the lyrics for a song but type the notes is far more difficult.
but his boss did, and that should have been enough to do the job.
In apple's world the job isn't finished until steve or Jonathan approve. in MSFT's world the programmers can do what ever they want as long as office and Windows make billions to make up for the losses elsewhere.
well that, and in 8 yers MSFT developed ONE and only ONE tablet application.
Every other application required a keyboard to be really useful. MSFT never ported things like office or outlook to a tablet interface. Apple redesigned their mail, web browser, etc applications. MSFT designed one Note and left it at that.
Where was the outlook for tablet interfaces? how about excel? The problem with tablets before apple, wasn't processor or battery, but the fact that if you weren't using a keyboard or mouse the interface was a royal pain in the ass to use.
Both the Aria and Eris from HTC would disagree with you. finding a phone with froyo installed by default is difficult as the makers have stopped putting version numbers in their specs. Sure there are several models available but far more are shipping with 2.1 right now than with 2.2 That is something not even apple does. When they release a new OS all devices sold after that get the update automatically. Their might be some in supply for a couple of months, but all new ones made are upgraded.
Apple warranties products for 3 years. That means 3 years worth of updates to every product. If a product line sells poorly it still gets updates.
HTC isn't even trying selling phones today that should have been running 2.2 from the start of their production.
90% of android phones aren't upgradeable anyways. in 2 years I have received 2 major OS upgrades to my iphone. in 2 years time there isn't a single Android vendor still suppling updates to older phones. Once you root your phone the warranty is voided.
I really want to get away from the iphone. I just can't seem to find a replacement that the vendors care about for more than 6 months.
that's just it in America the cell companies won't do anything they can't get 50-75% of the revenue from.
I would love an FM reciever. AT&T has one model phone available with an FM receiver. they have crippled said phone with their own software that can't be removed and six months later it is running a year old OS.( android 2.1) with zero upgrade plans ever. So the first thing one has to do is root the phone to uninstall their software, upgrade the phone to the latest, and then to be secure re lock the phone back down.
Or I could buy a smart from from a vendor that actually cares about customer satisfaction. Of course I still can't find a cell company that cares.
Actually I would suspect Russia. They are the ones who loses out selling iran nuclear fuel when iran produces it's own.
Combine that with the fact that someone had to get detailed information about what hardware was present at those plants and the USA, isn't really welcomed there. Don't forget that Russia has lots of hackers, and whomever just test fired a weaponized hack.
True but most corporations budget based on conservative estimates. The government predicts based off everyone paying exactly what they owe in taxes without deductions. Also a company can go bankrupt. a Country can also go bankrupt but it is very very messy.
The US government is better than NY state government. NY state budgeted 12 million dollars over 3 years for a new type of drivers license. They received 3 million over 2+ years.
That is the real problem with government accounting. They don't know how much money they really are working with only what they think they might be estimating they have.
When those estimates are wildly off based off of bad methods of statistics deficits sore.
For your parents, during your next visit, theme firefox to look like IE, move bookmarks over, and then replace the IE icon on the desktop, start menu, etc with new links that all point to firefox. they probably won't be able to tell the difference, and then you can use popup blocker.
IE 8 isn't to bad, if they won't go for the previous suggestion. IE 8 at least has pop blockers. I have to keep IE 8 around at work, as Chrome lacks certain features, and renders some websites unusable.(damn IE only sites)
(before I get flamed Chrome lacks basic features like the ability to add margins to printed pages. it is tough to print some pages(like UPS labels) if you can't push the margins correctly.)
yep it requires businessmen to think outside the box and think differently.
That's why it took MSFT two months to figure out how to use a menu with xbox's Kinect.
It is why MSFT even though they have produced a tablet OS since at least 2002, only ever produced ONE application that took complete advantage of said features.
It is also why Apple is so secretive about their stuff. Do you know how many ipad failures where tested over the last 8 years?
Patent #7,215,445
Of those the last one is my favorite. Here is the abstract
Method and apparatus to correct distortion of document copies
Abstract
Pages of books are copied without distortion due to curvature of the page near the book binding or the distortion in a copied page is corrected using the spacing of equidistant bars on tape strips applied to the top and bottom edges of a page before copying. The tape is preferably transparent and rather narrow and easily attached to a page to be copied. The first step in the distortion correction procedure is to locate the bars at the top and bottom of the page. The distortion of the spacing between the imaged bars is computed based on the known distance between the equidistant bars. The computed distortion of the spacing is then input to a distortion correction algorithm. The output of the distortion correction algorithm generates a corrected image. This image may also optionally delete the bars so that they are not printed in the copy. The corrected image is then copied.
you are aware that the USPTO has allowed IBM to patent collating documents by hand right. You set each page on a table in sequence and then you simply walk along grabbing a page at a time.
The HTC Aria came out in may/June 2 months after the offical 2.2 Froyo came out.
It still isn't updated to 2.2 stock. HTC won't do it. ATT won't do it.
HTC Hero is also officially only android 2.1 with no official updates yet.
instead of being an asshole why don't you go look it up. Here is the problem, you have to look up every phone by each carrier separately to find out if an update may or may not be forth coming. Even then half the time they refuse to list what version of android is avialable unless it is the latest.
If HTC can't update phones released since the official Froyo release, what makes you think they will update phones that are older than froyo?
the majority of HTC models lag 6-12 months behind in updates simply because they have to make sure their UI updates correctly on the older hardware. It is also why HTC stops updating phones much earlier than apple does simply because it becomes far to much work for a limited group that you want to purchase new phones anyways.
And this is one of the main reasons not to get an Android phone. In order to get upgrades you have to root(jailbreak) the phone. Apple may be a control freak, but at least they are willing to support their products for more than 6 months.
So many Android phones have come and gone one would think that an game AI was trying to find the right product. I just realized Android phones are the Zerg of cell phones. Cheap, mass produced, and die off quickly.
And no used USB until Apple made it the only way to connect devices. Seriously windows 98 and ME had little standard USB support. Even then it was until 2004 that ps2 ports were the most common port sold with new computers.
it is a shame that there isn't one but three seperate cell phone standards in the USA.
um you do realise they can't track about 70% of the cell phones currently in use right.

That is my objection. These images are stored and since it was a government project they are running windows and are easily hacked.
In 12-18 months non distorted images of celebreties and politicians will be on the Internet.

the new idea bar is already pretty low.
yes but do your really want to crack open your own skull just so I can have a faster train of thought?

HTC support their phones for 6-12 months. maybe it depends on how many units sold.
Carrier supplied phones are still using android 1.5, 1.6

true but there were so many pauses in the series that many stopped watching.
Seasons 4 was separated by what 9 months? more.
TV shows that are popular but the networks don't like get all sorts of random stupid things, night changes, forced show changes, etc.
And no used USB until Apple made it the only way to connect devices. Seriously windows 98 and ME had little standard USB support. Even then it was until 2004 that ps2 ports were the most common port sold with new computers.
USB adoption was very slow.
