Wilbur and orville wright waited a couple of years before they announced they could fly so the patents would clear. At that same time dozens of hobbists were working out how to fly repeatably around the world.
Most inventions are a product of their time. Necessity drove them to be created. More than one person was trying to figure it out anyways, as they saw money from selling said product.
Patents should exist, but should depend on the market. Software patents shouldn't last 3 years as then they are out of date. medications 5-7, and if you actually build something maybe 10.
you do know that iwo Jima was fought in World war II, a war that the USA tried to stay out of for 2 years. While I agree with your statement for modern conflicts WW II is a different war for different reasons all together. Heck at that time we were still friendly with Stalin.
and that my friend should be the whole point. MSFT basically stopped all browser development for 5 years. Then Firefox came along and showed people that you could have a free browser that could do more than IE(Opera wasn't free but adware). MSFT lost marketshare and then started to fight back.
MFT is and always has been reactionary to change. If their products are good enough they don't get improved upon. If MSFT only had 60% marketshare I would be happy. as MSFT would be forced to fight to keep customers by improving software.
um all the most popular services and apps on the web are part of half assed solutions which crowd the limelight.
Facebook, myspace, ebay, wikipedia, etc.
And I use Wikipedia, not because it is the most accurate but because I don't have to pay for access to it. Britannica charges for access to articles that in general have less knowledge in them than wikipedia. So you pay to get less, but it's all trusted right? With the number of spelling grammar, and just plain wrong facts i found in my parents full set of encyclopedia britannica (purchased 1990) on information from even the 60's I vowed never to pay for an encyclopedia let alone their useless drivel.
why not. At least the pork barrel useless projects that every one and their cousin asks for will stop being built.
Why should a sports stadium for a team that earns hundreds of millions of dollars annually be paid for by the state taxpayers? Why not simply pay the players less than a million dollars a year, and pay for it yourself? yet you will find NYS state helped pay for the Yankee's shiny new stadium.
Also just so you know Every house wired in the USA has had 240 volt since the 70's. The average receptacle might be 110, but the mains coming in, every stove, and most electric heaters are all 240 volt. We get the best of both worlds. efficiency for high power draw items, and cord ends smaller than bricks. Also we have more than 3 receptacles in a room.
ah but 5 million educated american workers can't build the next apple or google?
Remember MSFT is asking for more H1B visa's while firing American workers in the USA. In other words they want to replace educated american workers with cheaper educated foreign workers. It is one thing to announce layoffs, it is another to announce hiring of only non native workers to fill the roles of those you just fired.
Of course MSFT is just that kind of bully. expect to see more of MSFT throwing it's weight around over the next few years, as ballmer has no good ideas to throw he throws around his body, (and chairs)
um under Bush we have given nearly 5 times the money to China that Clinton did.
on top of that both stimulus checks were backed not by the american government but essentially the chinese government, as the american government has no money yet spends it like a waterfall.
You do realizethat officail tallies of the election count and various court challeneges take well into Decemember every year? You might be able to shave two weeks off the time but that is about it. Heck this year the votes of Michigan and another state didn't certify their final tallies till mid decemember. In your instant model mistakes will happen with out some correction time.
Clinton got a blow job from someone who wasn't his wife, and he is a traitor, yet Bush lied to the american public about every reason for invading Iraq and he isn't?
Al queda hated saddam as much as we did, and didn't move into Iraq until after we did.
Actually like the big dog, I think the killer app will not be killing machines, but machines to carry our crap and do the simple chores (like mowing, vacuming, sweeping, carrying laundry up and down the stairs.) will be the first real setups.
Of couse one could argue we don't get enough exercise as it is.
Um for the price of a mac you can get the exact same PC. There is very little price difference between and it has been that way for at least 6 years.
The problem is Apple isn't dell Apple is Thinkpad, Apple is toshiba. Just because you can spend less and buy cheap Doesn't mean all computers that run windows are cheap.
While the numbers where pulled from my ass they aren't that far off.
broken down with the aircraft count shrinking it is roughly $335 miillion for an F-22 from what I know.
Half the reason the F-35 isn't that expensive is because some 70-80% of the R&D design work was budgeted under the F-22 design program and they copied the useful data, and piggy backed the modeling. Basically offsetting all the external performance design work.
UAV vary by size. Some only cost $30,000 others 10's of millions. basically it boils down to how big and what size runway they are launching from. (back pack and hand launch vs needing a full airstrip.
your right about motors, however the only reason elecronics works at multiple voltages is because they have no need to design to a standard. if every electronic device had to run at a standard DC voltage then such problems would vanish. However because standards aren't enforced you get the problems with cell phones were every cell phone has a different connector.
yea i would love to see an air to air missile dogfight. at the mach 3+ that they travel they don't have enough fuel to maneuver more than a couple of turns.
yea the math speaks volumes. UAV's can target and back up ground troops but no UAV has done air to air combat. No UAV is capable of fighting a mannned air craft and winning. If not for local ECM(jammers in other aircraft) screwing up the flight controls, then the simple fact that the manned aircraft can turn their head and see the planes over their shoulder let alone behind them.
yes.

did you read the summary let alone the article? They will flag things like politician's pages, pages of hollywood stars, etc.
most articles at least in the begining won't be flagged as they aren't important enough.

as a Vet of Iwo jima once told me. His words We fought for your right to make a choice even if I don't approve of it.
um 10 to 20 ha, try 200.

Ah have no fear, stupid people will find the devices to hard to use. and will continue to breed like jack rabbits.

shh because of the MSFT tax going to the store to buy a copy of the windows is a lot easier as it comes with most computers standard.

As a friend of mine once remarked while playing a strategy game online.
You need De-Fence to defend yourself. Firewall are one. NATt's are another layer. Ditching the Windows inyour fence is always good.
And given the virus outbreak the MOD only hires moron admins.
Servers should never be run by idiots. As crap like this happens every second because of it.
Actually OSX is superior to Linux in Pron browsing. you only have one mouse button to worry about.
Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it. Is more true than just for school.
The constant warfare of previous centuries was many small stupid people trying to be bigger.
The solution is a giant bureacray that no wants to be a part of. That way stupidity and masochists will rule.

lets see
1 $400 million dollar F-22
10 $40 million dollar F-35
or
100 $4 million dollar UAV's

Yes,
AC has better voltage drop and in most cases voltage conversions.
DC is more effecient in closed loops.
So you want distance ac is king. However your car will never be AC. DC is far safer in such situations.
I have always been under the thought. Electric companies should deliver AC to the home. Where it gets converted to DC.
