um safari at least for me downloads directly to the desktop. then again when the download finishes instead of auto opening the file OS X pops up a dialog to manual confirm that I downloaded an application/disk image/zip file. where as jpgs, gifs, pdfs just save automatically.

The State of X.Org

that was the point of the fork though. Xfree86 developers moved slowly before X.org was formed, and wouldn't introduce changes like 3D accelerated desktop, period.
Developers where complaining about xfree86 for years before the fork, When the license changed it was just enough to push the fork. X.org began a long boring process of breaking X into smaller modules which will accelerate overall development. The problem is that process is still on going, and will take a few more years before any major upgrades can take place.
Think about the Mozilla project. They spent years cleaning out the core codebase and upgrading the core gecko engine from Netscape before they even had a decent beta. X.org is doing the same to something far larger, and uglier.
you do realize that things like a single volcano erupting will be enough to cut that off right?
When Dinosaurs walked the earth it was a lot warmer than it is now.
What is really funny though. a few days ago we(locally) broke a new high temperature that was last set in 1925 at 92F If the world is warming up how the hell could it be so warm way back then? Oh wait we only have 60 years of good data, another 100 years of medicore quality data, and enough arrogance to think that with 160 years of data we can predict that the average temperature is going up on a planet that is billions of years old.
while arctic ice, and trees, can give you a rough idea of weather, it doesn't give you actual data to work from.
Because apple has all of one cell phone in it's entire line up unlike Motorola, who has(had?) hundreds.
there are also dozens of cell phone you will never find in the States because the carrier deals here prevent any sort of cool toys.
japan, and Europe have phones that would make you drool, but you can't buy them in the USA as there isn't enough coverage, and the infrastructure can't support their features.
As I put it to my parent sin the early 90's with a group of other kids my own age.
Boy Scouts has stopped being fun. We went camping, built stuff, and had fun it was great. Then a kid got hurt playing flag football at one of the larger gatherings for the state. After that No more football, or bringing your own balls, and no card games, etc. After that a bunch of us left. it wasn't because of religion it was because those running things took the fun out of it.
Where else is a kid supposed to learn how to play poker?
I loved Scout camp in the summer. a 5 mile dirt road just to get back to the campsite. a 50 mile canoe trip. that was what boy scouts should have been. Leaky tents, bugs, and a lake without people around it.
that's my favorite part of global warming. They are all worried about a 3,000 year old ice shelf collapsing.
yet they can't seem to figure out if it is 3,000 years old then the ice shelf one generation before it must have collapsed due to the slave labor building the pyramids. It's not some natural collapse when it gets to heavy every 3-5 thousand years, noooo it must be humans fault.
Nope it's actuall the global warming laws that the sun is following. The summary stated without sunspots for 50 years the planet went through a mini ice age. The sun is just trying to help us cool the planet down a bit.
that would require Verizon and sprint to abandon their existing infrastructure. Which is based not on GSM but on CDMA.
The only good thing about this mess is that it is showing just how fracked up USA's cell industry really is. the USA can't duplicate Europe until all the major carriers are using the same standard.
half the reason why sprint has that number of users is because they bought nextel, and got the contractors with the push to talk market.
but sprint doesn't use the same CDMA tech as verizon. their phones aren't interchangeable. yet I can take my GSM phone to europe, buy a local sim card and get a local phone number to use.
actually all you need to prevent another 9-11 is a population not afraid of a fraking box cutter. if someone pulled a box cutter on me I would beat the shite out of them. oooh I might need a stitch or two . now if it was a 7 inch long blade I might be worried as that can cause internal organs, but still it is better than crashing in an airplane.
Verizon uses CDMA technology instead of the world-wide GSM. hence a verizon phone will only ever work on a verizon network.
The data service will still be limited to verizon only phones. Sorry but if your stuck on Verizon your screwed. AT&T suks but at least they use GSM. So you can switch to t-mobile in the USA.
i never buy revision A apple hardware. let the fanatics bug test the hardware.
damn glad I did too. with built in GPS, better battery life, real apps.
I just feel sorry for the 6 million original iPhones that are about to hit ebay. Then again if Apple sold 6 million regular iPhones with version 2 coming out in a month in 70 countries just how many more will they sell? the 10 million iphones sold is going to be a drop in the bucket. i would almost expect 12 million units shipped by the end of the year.
I have weather, calendar, a couple of sticky notes, and an airport monitor. The airport monitor is the best lightest weight one I have come across and displays quite a bit of info about available wireless in range, without loading up a more capable app.
your quite right, but the fact that apple pulled the switch off while keeping their customers happy and had in place a platform agnostic system(cocoa) that was easy to port quickly helped.
Apple switched processors and other than a new logo for universal binaries the end users couldn't tell the difference.
MSFT is having problems upgrade to EFI(only supported by 64 bit vista) from BIOS.
If all your backing up is data then yur absolutely correct. In MSFT's and even OS X time machine the default settings are to backup everything, the OS, applications etc. for a home users that is just stupid. All that is really important should be in the users home directories and that should be the primary backup point.
For me, I have two type of backups. data files, which are stored on the Hard drive, and two separate removable drives, and the stuff that doesn't get touched very often, like music and video files. Music files after ripping are mass burned onto a dvd once a year.
while I don't do backups as often as I should, I do do them enough that i can wipe my drive on the fly and not worry about losing stuff.
That's just it the dotcom didn't plan 5 years out. heck they didn't plan 2 years out. Some of them took a billion dollars in venture captial spent it all inside of 6 months, grossed maybe $300 million in revenue, and suddenly realized they owed more money than the would make back in 5 years. They tried to start walmart or Home depot sized business overnight and then couldn't figure out why they failed.
you want to start a business and even have some start up money to get going that's great. but you had better carefully plan out the next two years of bills that you know about. as if you start coming up short your screwed.
Actually Intel keeps trying(Itanium?) and AMD uses a compatibility mode.
The problem is as usual MSFT. which only runs on windows. yes I know a decade ago NT 4.0 did run on PowerPC, and even a couple of alpha chips.
Apple with a fraction a of the software guys can keep their OS on two major different style of chips PowerPC, and Intel x86, along with 32bit and 64 bit versions of both. Sun keeps how many versions of Solaris?
Nope but Vista only runs on x86. So X86 will remain around as long as it does.
That's what makes it interesting for the racers and crews. watching racing is like watching golf. really long periods of boredom followed by watching one or two good crashes/ amazing golf shots.
I love to race sailboats. but if you do 3 laps around the course each lap will be different. So not only do you have to set your self up for the endurance part, but you also have to be prepared to do an engine change in the middle of the course, as well tactically position yourself.
That being said just because it is fun doesn't make it a spectator sport.
disbarring a lawyer is a long complicated procedure. Indeed this was his disbarrment hearing that he walked out on.
In a prepared statement left with the court he called the florida bar association Fascists. While the final ruling isn't due until September(long process remember) I can't imagine a judge being called incompetent is going to help him any.
what really gets me is that google docs uses Open Document format as it's default output. use open office locally and google docs on the road for the same document.
you can swap back and forth. You can use google docs to store your files pass US customs and download them again quickly and easily once you have passed customs.
welcome to arm, PA semi, mips, and heck even AMD.
AMD only makes part of the chips they sell, last I knew most of their chips were fabbed by IBM.
um safari at least for me downloads directly to the desktop. then again when the download finishes instead of auto opening the file OS X pops up a dialog to manual confirm that I downloaded an application/disk image/zip file. where as jpgs, gifs, pdfs just save automatically.

you can't the business degree includes a free lobotomy. a requirement to become a business manager.

no it's nothing like that. Software only costs you once to develop it. cloth is a continually drain for weavers as they require raw products to make.
Software is unique it doesn't have raw products that make it up so once you have designed it it is free to make unlimited copies.
Verizon uses CDMA technology instead of the world-wide GSM. hence a verizon phone will only ever work on a verizon network.

I never use crack when i mod.
I much prefer weed and alcohol. far cheaper and it makes you spaced out enough that even the AC become funny.
I find most of them useless but
