    one better, Apple is currently selling AAC files that don't have DRM. you pay more but they remove the DRM, enabling ANY MP4 player to play those files.

    The solution to the suit is to remove all DRM. then you only have to have choice between formats.

    I have forced Time Warner to change my IP address by playing around with the settings on my router.

    though if I use the same mac address I usually get the same IP. exceptions to this are duration between changes.

    As for IPV6 my systems and internal routers can use it whenever I want. As it is now my routers broadcast both, switching won't be hard.

    Actually MSFt tends to hide things with Poor GUI design, and frequently renames commonly used items. They are getting better however.

    Something I do find interesting Is Office 2007 ribbon. A new and innovate take. if it works in the long term is something else, but at least they tried something else.

    I just have to wait for MSFT to port it to the Mac.

    Um all video and photo iPods have an s video out ability. It plugs into the headphone jack with a special cable. I got one with my camera and it works for the iPod as well.

    The iMac tossed out the floppy drive and relied on USB instead of old connectors. If the iMac revolutionized anything It should computers didn't have to be a large beige box, that looked it like belongs in a cube farm instead of someone's home. It took Dell 5 more years to figure that part out.

    We use office '97 and office 2000 at work. In five years I bet we will still be using those two pieces. The main work stations run win95 and win98 as MSFT broke all networking compatiblity with our server with windows NT 4.0 and forward. The server is running an OS that was made in 1993.

    If the hardware continues to run, why should we upgrade? The iPhone has more disk storage, and active memory than the server.

    you need to find a better phone then. My motorola L2, has survived in a glass of water, has fall down two flights of stairs, and a 11 foot drop onto a concrete floor(yes i know the height, it is clearly labeled loading zone). The water one took a week for it to work right and to finish drying out.

    after all that it has one tiny scratch on the back of the battery case.

    On that same page there is really nothing inventive in Windows, because talented MSFt engineers just keep bashing more and more bits of it together until it will become useful. Popularity doesn't mean innovative.

    yes MSFT has Very talented Engineers. Anyone who can keep windows running has to be a genius.

    UNIX.

    The original versions shipped with source code. It was only when AT&T tried to make money on it that the source code closed down, and then guess what happened? dozens of incompatible versions became the norm.

    Vista as originally told was supposed to do just that. MSFT even bought connectiva(?) a virtual machine company. Vista should have had it's shiny new APi's and then used a hidden version of XP to run the old code in a sand box.

    MSFT unfortunately will never be able to think out side of the box that way. someone should send them the orange box, and portal.

    The single best DVD player remote I have ever used it

    My Apple remote with 6 buttons on it. add one for power, and possibly an eject and your done.

    In 10 years of owning dvd players I have never used any other buttons. but those 8.

    and can someone tell me why there is a number pad on every remote when not a single DVD allows input like that?

    that is why the gateway, dell, stores are falling like mad.

    apple stores sell apples latest products and you can get customer service there. On top of that if you are having problems with your mac or just want to learn some new software they have people who will teach you for an hourly fee of course, and are fairly patient.

    When was the last time someone sat down with your mom and showed them how to use "random photo album software here" for an hour? when done that lady new more than i do, but then again i can figure out every thing I missed.

    You should try a clean install of OS X one day. One reboot, and the defaults are easy to use, and generally safe. you have to turn on things like file sharing manually and when you do the firewall comes on automatically.

    leopards miss prints aside.

    Hardware is useless without software?

    Software is useless unless you have something to run it on. Guess what my copies of windows are useless as I don't currently have hardware which can they can currently run. That means all of my windows only software is also useless.

    Yet my hardware can run far more than windows. I can run OS X, Linux, BSD, BeOS, GNUHurd if i am feeling adventerous, and even windows with special adaptors.

    Software doesn't do anything by itself, it only ties the pieces of hardware together. Hardware though can be useful for a door stop if every thing else fails.

    $500 to get yourself up and running for a few hundred/ thousand copies. if you start to press cd's then the price goes up but if your selling that many well that's cool too.

    you shouldn't let your standard Hard drive become more than 80% full anyways. why? because modern file systems defrag themselves and need the space to separate to be able to defrag themselves.

    If your constantly using more than 80% of a Hard drive go buy a bigger one.

    Possibly, It was fishy so it should be looked into, but MSFT can't compete in a fair market. Take a look at their product line up, other than MS Office, and Windows every other line is doing mediocore and many are losing money heavily.

    The better question is how you can have a monopoly in Advertising anyways. It's not like you can't buy airtime, newspaper, magazine, or interweb ads from dozens of locations.

    Yes, new on disk topology mappings, and new tech give you roughly a million r/w and the mappings help to evenly distribute the load.

    The music industry itself will never die.

    In American i buy music online from European bands directly. my friend buys his music right from the artists.

    For $500 you can set yourself up to make a few thousand cd's daily, ad in a website and an account at UPS or the post office, and mail away.

    The bands that take the time to sign cd's before stuffing the cd into an envelope generally have a much more loyal following, who will pay more for music they perceive to be good.

    the Music industry model is outdated. Music itself will go on. And since you can't get free internet in just about every library that's not a big deal.

    you need to find a good butcher. i can easily get real bacon in the usa, you just can't get it prepackaged.
