    Planes have greater maneuverability,
    Planes have pilots that can pick up on such clues,

    to kill a missile you just have to burn through a mm or two of shell, and either detonate the warhead, or destroy hardware inside(a burned out guidance ship is useless.

    To kill a UAV,(slow moving over a fixed area)you simply have to burn through the again thin shell to destroy sensitive electronics or ignite the fuel supply

    To take out any fighter jet or bomber the skin suddenly becomes 2-5 times thicker, armor panels may be present, It is a larger target giving it greater heat dispersal area, It can move around a bit more again making it hard to hold onto one small space.

    will it happen, definitely. but you are limited to line of sight ranges. Which means to take out a target, you launch 3-4 missiles at it and then fly behind them. The laser shoots down the missiles, becoming vulnerable to bomb drops from the plane.

    It has worked for every other recession.

    The only true path to debt reduction is a long term democratic president with republican's in charge of at least one house.

    Under that method CLinton was forced to cut spending, but pushed for not lowering income(taxes). The first thing Bush does in Office is Hey the governments got a surplus let's give it away instead of paying off our credit cards. Which did absolutely nothing for us in long term economics'(I was predicting the housing market crash in 2005/6, I was early by 2-3 years. For the 2000's the only thing keeping the country afloat and out of a deep recession was the construction housing market. Everything else was mediocre at best.

    Once that stopped it collapsed. It came down harder than i thought it would too. We should have let those banks collapse. Sued the CEO's for mismanagement with the SEC, and we would have been out of it faster. Instead we made a couple of loan payments for them so they could dig out of debt, while burying ourselves even farther.

    Actually #2 is a concern. China's caps include some finish goods. Several industries that requires rare earth components are suffering shortages. While things like iPods aren't on the list things like high efficiency fluorescent lighting ballasts are.

    I forget but the USA does have something like 25% of the proven reserves as well. China tariffs rare earth elements two things will/are happen. The USA will start to reopen our mines, and with the price of gas, and cross ocean shipping some mostly automated manufacturing lines will return as well.

    China only took the manufacturing because the cost of labor, materials and shipping it was cheaper than paying American's to do the same task. With increases in Materials, and Shipping and slowly Labor too, it is beginning to make sense to bring manufactuing back. The advantage being it will be highly automated, and high tech.

    I replay shioters many times.

    This game you get ONE chance to play it correctly.

    I always play through once and then go back and play again on a harder setting. This prevents the game buyer from enjoying their paid for product more than once let alone selling it.

    One of these days I will invent a perpetual motion machine, that uses bureaucratic paper passing to create energy.It would work for congress, local governments and board of directors for corporations.

    Chrome to phone only works one way, only works with firefox and Chrome, and can't send anything else.

    You can't send information back to your computer, and no is making plugins for safari, IE, or Opera.

    I want a system to send URL's, back and forth between devices, whether they are desktop, laptops, tablets, or phones.

      Syncing bookmarks is stupid as you have to transmit 50kb or more to send one text sting. and then you delete the book mark when your done so you have to resend everything again.

    I am using Prowl(a growl plugin for mobile notifications) and a plugin called prowltophone which was released before chrome to phone was officially announced. But it has all the stupid limitations of chrome to phone.

    that works okay until the firmware screws up the which DST zone your in.

    I have had several that I set to East coast, and over a period of a year would drift time by as much as 3 hours.

    Since then I don't trust non GPS auto time sync's. There is too much that can go wrong the signal propagation.

    Gas at $5 a gallon shuts down the entire US shipping industry and with it the majority of the economy.

    WE live in a world where it is cheaper to build far away and ship it around the world before it gets to you. This is done with every thing from computers, to your morning cup of coffee to that banana you picked up at the gas station that was picked in the last week.

    Now how many cups of coffee would you drink if it cost $5 a cup at home?

    Think about this yes the USA needs a price correction in order to fix it's problems. The thing is we have to destroy at least one generation to do it as it will take 20 years to recover from it. This isn't an easy fix you move one piece to far out of place and the entire house of cards comes down. Since half the world economy depends on the USA they all fall down too. You think the recession of the last 5 years was tough? Do you think the great depression was tough? What you propose will be worse by far. You are talking about a total (but necessary) reboot of our entire economy. With that will come the gangs, and violence of the Depression as well. Are you really ready for 20 years of Anarchy?

    If the answer is no then you no you won't pay more. Putting legal jobs there would quadruple the costs of picked food(not everything can be done by machine)

    What people fail to realize is that American's don't do so many jobs because you can't live off them. 2 people living together each working 60 hours a week on minimum wage jobs can't afford a cheap apartment in something like 80% of the country(by population, not land area). Separated that way because the majority of minimum wage jobs are located in populated areas. If your earning minimum wage your by definition poor, have no health care at all(medicare won't cover you, minimum wage jobs don't have it, Even if they did you couldn't afford the $1000(average cost of health insurance for those earning under $30,000 a year) a month payments.

    Remember This is America Only the rich get things like health care, homes, everyone else can fuck off.

    3 times? my auto insurance is $60 a month. my health insurance is $300 a month, and I have a hefty co-pay to go along with it.

    The average person making 50,000 a year is spending 5-10 of that on Health insurance.

    The reason it is so high in the USA is because we overcharge for everything(everybody ). The USA spends about 5 times what every other developed nation does per person on Health insurance and we get less coverage for it.

    60 million american's cant afford healthcare one out of every six people you see get nothing for healthcare. Try it sometime get a quote for healthcare without a coroporate backer(employer) and compare it to what you currently pay. I can say for a fact it will be at least several times the amount.

    Now consider that the more money you have this less you pay for premimums, the more coverage you get, the lower deductables and copays etc.

    My car has better cheaper insurance than i do. My car gets totaled insurance money can get a down payment on a new car if i get seriously hurt i get told i am not covered and should just die or live with it. Now tell me which one is the free market working for again?

    except unless your in a very very new small house you won't cover 1/4 of your AC bill. It has to be new, as then it was built with better thermal design, and insulation. NOw to assist your AC as well you can due a geothermal circulation system on top of the Solar your power bill goes up slightly but it should be offset by the A/C not working quite as hard.

    about 1-2 KWH if your lucky depending on location of course.

    Solar can never be more than 50% efficient(sun shines for ever more than 12 hours in the majority of the USA

    Wind runs about 25% efficient over a year(wind blows only so much

    Hydro requires destroying thousand of acres of usually good land to create enough water pressure to function best.(Most of the natural ones are all ready being tapped )

    I have looked into it over and over again. without a decent home sized electrical storage system that doesn't need a complete replacing every 5 years(that' how long batteries last folks) Solar and wiind home generation won't amount to much.

    I know a dozen companies that are moving jobs back tot he USA with automated manufacturing(sorry no new jobs there) because the price of shipping /chinese wage is no longer profitable.

    $100-$150 dollars a barrel has one advantage long haul shipping gets to expensive to work for outsourced manufacturing. By using Robots you don't have to pay a lot of workers, and you can say you are made in the USA which is a feel up moment for many people.

    $117 million on blackberries is cheap with 1.5 million employees in the federal government. That's 1/2 of 1% of the countries population.

    we have 275 cities with populations over 100,000 people. $550k on xboxes would be roughly 1,700 xboxes. or 6 per "city" for social services to use.

    If you actually breakdown the numbers into where things went the US government does waste some, but n t nearly as much as people think. They just can't wrap their heads around just how fucking big this country is.

    No our current problems is fiscal mismanagement over the last 30-40 years where both sides agreed that the good times would never end and they could just keep on spending out the credit cards. Like giving a million dollars to a couple of crack addicts. It was fun, but now reality is setting in.

    Since the air force has a Linux PS3 superculster, it isn't surprising at all.

    The $117 million on blackberries seems like a lot until you start to add up 100,000 employees x $1,000 a year for subscription, new phones for a certain subsection of them and your already at $100 million plus.

    The Xbox's and Zunes could have ben a part of some social workers job to keep kids entertained cheaper too.

    None of that list is really surprising. If you find it surprising then you need to look around and realizing the US government makes up less than .5% of the population.

    Well that and instead of taking the surplus out of social security for 40 years the government left the money in there as true savings then we wouldnt have this problem either. Instead politicains gave us an IOU due in 30 years and spent it. Now that IOU is due and there isnt enough to cover what was promised.

    Actually my 3G never suffered from iOS 4 problems for some reason. it doesn't hang, it doesn't do anything that was complained about. in deed now that it has been running a while it is moving as fast as it ever did.

    then again I don't play a lot of games on my phone so I might not have stressed it enough to notice.

    my only problem is if the android community doesn't care to upgrade your phone for you it never will be. How come Apple gets blasted for not supporting a phone for 20 years but android manufacturers gets off the hook for not doing it for 6 months. Double standards piss me off.

    true but Android handset manufactures only give you 6 months, of bug fixes, and maybe 18 months if it was a really popular handset,

    Apple gives you 30 months(my iphone 3G is updated to 4.1 ) Then again apple doesn't let the battery to be easily changed. so after 3 years the battery life is drastically reduced. With proper care they can still be good(I still get 2-3 days out of mine) but I take care to turn off wifi and bluetooth when not in use.

    Windows Phone only gives you bug fixes if the carriers approve taking 2-6 months longer than MSFT, so no emergency bug fixes will be pushed through.

    All that said I have to go root my nook color soon. The built in web browser and email client are beginning to annoy me.

    Exactly I use ESDF instead of WASD as that was how i learned to play and i discovered i have a pinky finger to use to press keys. That and it sets your left hand on home row keys for typing. The first thing i do before playing a new game is to rebind all the key

    A pain in the ass but i find i can play better

    Recently i bought a modified gaming keyboard thats laid out for FPS games so i dont have to adjust settings as often. Of course then steam logged me out and refuses to acknowledge i exist so i cant get to any of my games.

    No the professional is the one who gets paid to do the work with those tools.

    I know an old mostly retired engineer whose "tooshed" would make most professional machinists happy.

    He can literally build you anything mechanical out of almost any material as long as all you need is a one off part.

    The web browser is painful to use (no bookmark imports, no ad block)
    The email client works, but not very well.
    and I would want some push notifications, so I can send links from my desktop to the device for future reading.

    I agree however I kept forcing slashdot to revert to the old interface(it was hidden but still in there)

    right up until the last update. it was gone. I then got an email from slashdot why i kept switching back. I broke down the new interface and it's problems/ successes in a fairly detailed email on usability.

    I finished up with something along the lines of the new developers seem never to have actually used slashdot before why would they understand how it works.

    Right now I am using a hybrid interface, a lot of ajaxy parts, but moderating, comment sort, all look familiar. It works fairly well.

    The only part I miss of the new designs was the instant moderating. no scrolling to the bottom of the screen to press the moderate button.
