For a start i talked about trading bits, nothing about cash changing hands. 2ndly i didn' say their was anything inconsistant about your position. stick to the discussion at hand.
I take issue with your idea that the government should waste money chasing what is essentially a contract violation. lets get a grip here, we are talking about people trading music online, nothing of critical importance to the world.
and to answer your question - if i was an artist and people recorded my work, i'd love it. it means i've become popular enough for people to care and i'd cash in on it. after all people can still download music for free, but itunes sells millions of songs, clearly cost isn't the only issue.
"who trade in thousands of dollars of goods deserve to be charged (criminally) as thieves"
wrong. there aren't any goods being stolen or traded. bits are not goods, they are a copy of other bits, which means they are infringing on a copyright. that is a civil matter not criminal. so unless you really believe government money, your tax money, should be spent fighting someone elses private court battles you are serioulsy misunderstanding the situtation.
while the python app is running a c module, there isn't any difference between it and running the whole thing in C. this is why python is a winner in the speed stakes, even though it has all the nice features.
One thing i think we will see FOSS project's movng away from is giving away the software. if you GPL something, it doesn't mean you have to give it away, it just means who ever you sell it to gets the source code along with the program.I could for example write some software, sell it to others and then give them access to the source where only paid customers could make commits and see the source. source is only required if you distribute something....
i wouldn't go as far as saying it's great at all. take a closer look at the code on sourceforge, it's as bad as any closed source project i've ever seen.
so MS make products the consumer is happily paying for, and that makes their business model not work because.....? face it, MS makes some good products, FOSS falls flat on it's face with most of the projects out there. how about you all just man up and take a good hard look at what MS does RIGHT and what you do WRONG.
what a crappy business model - every customer has to pay for the bugs to be fixed on an individual basis? and your wrong about support, support is ALL ABOUT hand holding, clearly you have never worked a helpdesk in your life.
erm, that and the BMW is made to much higher standards, has 10's of millions of RnD put into it and has superior materials used in it. you aren't suggesting a BMW is the same as a KIA, are you?
... this shit happens. i'm not the slimest guy in the world but i certainly fit in a normal airline seat, and fuck me if the day came that i couldn't i'd be getting OFF that plane and getting on a tread mill ASAP, not filing a lawsuit.
there are simply too many cases where open source is the wrong option, or writing the software is so costly that closed paid for development is the only time it's going to be written.
this whole article is a case of when your a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
is there a market between notebooks and desktops? what the hell are they planning, something too big to carry around yet not powerful enough to run everything?
that's it i can't take it. every single MS story on here has to have some stupid immature little snipe. why the hell would MS be "begging"???? they are a multi billion dollar company with more industry clout than anyone, and yet just because they attempt to work inside the industry to get better compatability with their OS they are beggers not choosers? if they are beggers what the hell level is linux? the lice on the beggers?
in the last few years/. has steadily slipped into a pathetic site posting the same agenda driven crap, with little to no value
because of the genetic traits of a persons race, they end up looking different. anything different makes you a target in any culture. thats the key your not understanding, race is never going away, it's only the social issues that can be changed.
i think racial issues are only going to get a lot worse under obama, he'll be a trigger for it. I'm hoping he never mentions it again in any offical speeches or tries to play the race card. race shouldn't be an issue and the only way to get there is to treat it as a none issue.
rubbish. it's got it's roots in genetic's. this idea you are pushing that race doesn't exist and that it's all in our head is dribble i've heard before, from people who don't want to face our differences and work past them.
there is still cost associated with it, just keeping it in stock is costly. they have probably reached the point they are losing out keeping the boxes in the warehouse. still 18 years is a hell of a long time. i can hardly think of any OS version that is still selling that's 18 years old.
what nonsense. if their inflight system runs on windows it'd make a hell of a lot more sense to run it on xp/vista or something that's actually compatable (yes you can run win16 apps on vista). of course this is slashcrap so everything means linux. your linux is linux is all that linux.

... clearing something was a little TOO "check free". maybe they should change their name to "Checkalittlemore"

I guess they still have some work to do.

you just got hosed off, gg.

indeed, but that's how most places run. i've hated desktops in the workplace since i was introduced to terminals....
fortunately your fear mongering has no effect on people with brains.

am i the only one thinking "big deal" so they sharpened the image and added a flag as a background. who gives a fuck?
is there a market between notebooks and desktops? what the hell are they planning, something too big to carry around yet not powerful enough to run everything?
holy FUCK are you naive little man.
what excuse do linux supports use all the time?

time to find a better news site
