    Oh, please. Don't be silly.

    They certainly could understand having no objects, they just didn't consider it important enough (or had reason enough) to work it into their counting system.

    Primative counting is done to figure out how much you have, not don't have. If you don't have one, you simply make/acquire one.

    You can't convince me that they don't understand they have no food items, as that is what drives them to hunt/gather.

    Also, since the rest of humanity has this ability, what are the odds that this is a "latent" tribe, as opposed to a "retarded" tribe?

    Umm, those figures would include infants, small children, and the functionally blind (some) as well. A bit of straw inside that scarecrow.

    According to Newsweek (4/16/01) the UN pegs the figure at 97% for the U.S. population over 15 years of age.

    Bad (~7.5M), but not nearly as bad as your example. And, it still includes some that aren't so by education.

    Baloney. That may sound good and authoritive, but it's baloney. Elsewise, the fighting knife would have never evolved. and, if you're not talking about a fighting knife, the handle is a tiny nub. Better to use the blade with a thrust.

    I have no arguments with anything you said except the above. I live in Missouri and travelled to Louisiana, Texas, and Colorado in one year. That beats the distances you mention. Just because it's all in one country doesn't mean it ain't travelling.

    Since when has a professor of Communication been more than a reporter? Me, I'll capitalize it without his permission, like I always have. The Internet is a name, much like Earth. It may be capitalized or not at the discretion of the user.

    Let him sit back and teach his students what the rest of the world does when it communicates.

    So? While important, feeding people is only keeping them alive. One could argue that just feeding them is a good way to establish and maintain a fuzzy, feel-good beurocracy.

    It doesn't address the issue of keeping them safe , which is more important and where the UN falls to its knees repeatedly. See the massacre just a couple of days ago.

    The UN is not the end-all, freedom and economic development is.

    Old or not, it's wrong. SWIFT is for international transfer, not domestic. Banks use Fed wire all day long.

    Wrongo. The Fed is a warehouse. Each bank has an account. Wire transfers change digits in two accounts. No physical money moves. Unneeded.

    So, that opinion is based upon the presumption of motive of those who are presumed to be doing something because of the presumed movites of Bush which cannot be shown?
