BuzzMetrics is already doing similar type of stuff. You can pay them to research your product or to keep tabs on it and some sort of search engine technology captures how much buzz the product is generating on the web as well as compiling reviews, blogs, posts, articles, etc., for review.
Plus, if there were such a miracle device, some person who knows about it would have too much to gain by selling it to a car company to keep it secret. Whoever patented this and started selling these cars could become way richer than any oil executive.
I've been quantum telecloning via multipartite entanglement for years with my ultra-flux quasi capacitordangle jimmy-rigged to a quanto-farscope for multi-resolution ohmage. I built this with the latest in Lego technology!
With modern technology, would it be possible to build an engine that auto-adjusts itself to the characteristics of the fuel being used ? After all, if the ignition, valves and air/fuel ratio process are controlled electrically, it shouldn't be that difficult to adjust them on the fly.
They're called "Flex-Fuel Vehicles" (FFV) and there are millions (1.5 million from GM alone) on the road RIGHT NOW. I've owned 2 by blind chance (I didn't shop for a FFV b/c there is nowhere to buy ethanol around here). They can run on any mixture of gasoline/ethanol up to 85% ethanol. They automatically adjust timing and A/F ratios to adapt to whatever mix you put in. E85 is available at a small amount (500) of stations but that number will be growing rapidly over the next few years.
Lots of Chevy and Ford vehicles are already capable of burning ethanol (E85 at least). People just don't know it. I drove a Chevy Avalanche around for a few years and it was E85 capable. I never was near a place to buy ethanol though:(
Seriously, most Chevy and Ford trucks are ethanol capable and have been for a few years. They just don't advertise the info b/c it wouldn't really be worth it if consumers don't have anywhere to buy ethanol. That will change soon.
Um, 14 year olds don't have IRS income. In both cases, the *parents* income is what counts. After 18, then you have a point. But I don't think anyone with rich parents is going to let a free TV affect their career decisions. They probably already have a nice TV.
I too, hope to one day make enough money that I can provide a good life for my family. Isn't that pretty much everyone's goal? Does it make us bad people?
I agree with the parent. The professor will make a bigger difference in your education than what language is being taught. Once you become a professional, you'll be able to program in any language so it won't really matter which ones you took in school.
Google probably wishes that web standards would move at a faster pace so that they could write some better web apps. Having control of the best browser out there (it's better than Firefox, IMO) would give them a chance to implement emerging standards quickly and the other browsers would be forced to keep up.
Most of you guys have no clue what Microsoft is actually doing. They are going to require some of their *server* products in the future to run on 64 bit processors - not home PCs. A lot of their server products today run on 32-bit and 64-bit processors already. I bet most of their new installs of these server products are already being done on 64 bit processors so they're just going to make things simpler. I doubt anyone will complain.
Sun has also just signed a deal to start using optical interconnects in their supercomputers. These interconnects will be able to transfer data at up to 10 terabits/sec!
Has anyone ever run the numbers to see if all the heat we create on a daily basis could be causing temperatures to rise? Our cars don't just emit CO2, but some really hot CO2! Everything else we do creates heat. Cities can be 10 degrees warmer than the surrounding countryside because of all the concrete and heat.
Having worked with Analysis Services 2000 and Analysis Services 2005, I can assure you that this is one area in which many useful new features have been added. It's a pleasure to develop cubes finally.
They should train dolphins and manatees to ram the torpedoes head on far enough away from the ship that no damage is done. Oh yeah, and some sea turtles to clear the way through mine infested waters!
Unless you're buying a used Civic, Corolla, etc., you shouldn't complain about a few thousand dollars that will never "break even" over the long term.
People spend so much money on cars for things that they *want*, not things that will "break even." Hell, even a new base model Civic or Aveo doesn't break even compared to a 7 year old used Civic.
Killing or maiming another human being wearing armor is a perfectly legal thing to do - in self defense.
This ruling only outlaws P2P applications that are promoted primarily as copyright infringement tools. It does not outlaw P2P applications - in fact, it validates them. This sounds like a good ruling to me.
They identify as Opera to provide their users a better experience. Many sites pop up error messages or don't let you in if you don't identify as IE (or Mozilla).

Sun and Luxtera are working on it. It won't be long before it's possible. Their method sounds inexpensive as well.
Now factor in rising gas prices and resale value...
Yeah, that would fit on the roof of a Prius.

It means you're getting old!
Sounds like a problem with the people who wrote the Windows web app, not Windows itself. It also sounds like a bad job of system administration.
Their comments page made my computer nearly unusable until I was finally able to navigate away from the page. I assume it was some nasty Javascript.

My online bank required IE (wouldn't even let Mozilla in) for a long time. They have very recently begun letting any browser through.
I work for a company that sells web applications and we have an IE only policy (unfortunately).

... until the commercial sites figure out how to get their results at the top of the research side.
