  5. The truth on Why Do Computers Still Crash? · · Score: 1

I've found out over time that the reason computer equipment crashes in general is lack of maintenance. Would you drive a car without changing it's oil for 5 years straight? Then why should a computer be any different. It's much more complex than a toaster, and yet the average toaster doesn't last much longer than a CPU. I think it's time people start treating things as they do with themselves. Take care of it/them.

Sure, theres the occasional hardware malfunction, but of all the malfunctions I've seen at home are either the result of my own damn manipulations (Sorry, can't help to tweak here and there) or that the component's life expectancy had ended. How many years do you think you can run on 66MHz First Gen SD-RAM anyway? I'm not defending faulty hardware manufacturers, but I've RMAed a faulty memory or processor once or twice knowingly that it was *my* fault. I'm getting offtopic here, so in conclusion let's just say that Star Trek like computer systems are far from being tommorow's technology, some people don't even have *1* computer let alone a completely dependant second backup computer!

An entry level CD player car Radio costs less than an XBox 2 to 3 times over (box only). I don't even count the accessories. Plus, on a more humorous note, putting an XBox in your car would drive the fuel efficiency way down, because of all the added weight to drive it around hahaha.
