This is one of the things holding the America's Army Mac port back, the GameSpy license needed renewing but they are now asking WAY too much for it. And since the in-game browser is run off GameSpy it makes the game useless.

GameSpy was a great thing...8 years ago. Started by a Navy man that wanted a quick and easy way to find and connect to Quake servers, but it turned into a mega-corp somewhere and adopted many MS techniques of crush and conquer. FilePlanet use to be great for game downloads, but now I can't get anything even with a logon (I'm not paying them for that crap when there are many other download sites available).

This affects more then just Macs, it affects everything they touch. Soon you'll need to logon to read the news at planetquake.com or even need to PAY them to read the news.

People need to stop relying on GameSpy and show them we are not going to put up with their crap...unfortunately most people WILL put of with their crap because they are too lazy or narrow minded to find something else.

Can you have Valve wipe your butt while you're at it? Can you please try to bitch a little more, I don't think you whined quite enough there.

If you bought the game and agreed to the EULA (it's really not that difficult to understand if you actually READ it, it is in English and not as 'lawyereez' as people think) then you should know that you can't just give it to your friend and say "Hey this is a great game, here!" and use YOUR ACCOUNT to install it. With the system Valve has here, you WILL get busted. Reminds me of what MS tried to do with XP, but failed miserably at and didn't do anything about the pirated versions they KNOW about.

Hats off to Valve for getting it right

Try not to be surprised when you break the rules you DO get in trouble, that's life and that's how society works. Deal with it or become a hermit like all the other 'rebels' from the '60s

I simply stated that video games are in no danger of extinction.
I didn't say games are in danger, it's the game companies that are taking the hits.

LokiGames is gone, Looking Glass is gone, Interplay is going and many other good companies have passed on. These are companies that all put out great games (unlike Blizzard's mediocre ones), but were not able to sustain profit. LokiGames went under partially due to poor management, but their lack of sales is what really hurt them.

You take the stance of neither position and want the arguments to end, but then you take the stance that it won't ever stop so don't try to stop it. You call me fevered because I made a comment about whiny kids? While you go on about that's the way things are, deal with it?

You are correct that games will not go away, but we are constantly losing good game companies because they are not making enough revenue. We lose good game companies, we lose good games. I'm saying support the good companies by purchasing their product so they can continue to make more. Pirating games only helps them get closer to chapter13.

But what most people fail to understand, everything mentioned is my opinion and not necessarily fact. This is how I personally feel about this issue, I can't speak for others.

They didn't go out of business because they made crappy products that nobody wanted. They went out of business because people were stealing their product and not paying for it.

If you want something, pay for it and stop being a whiny little kid that must have it without paying because you think you deserve since you are 'special' or better then everyone else
