If you make a movie that is AWESOME, I'll see it. I'll see it twice. I'll DOWNLOAD it because I love it. And then I will buy the DVD.

This is how it should work. I'm sick of hearing the studios complaining about piracy when they don't realise that if you make a piece of crap movie, people will pirate it instead of downloading it. I only download movies that I have paid for in the past, or I download them to see if they are any good before I see the actual movie. Either way I download it. If it's good, it gets my $10.

Just make a .sex or .xxx domain and force all of the porn sites to go there. Why wouldn't they want to? Offer free transfer of domains. This way, they, and parents, can keep minors away from these materials just by having a simple app (or even something built in to IE) block .xxx/.sex domains. The best way to get rid of activities like this is to give them their own place to play. An example of this is Diablo II - cheaters had their own open battle.net servers where they could cheat, and normal law-abiding players played on the legitimate servers.

  11. they don;t get it! on Mac Version Of Halo Exemplifies Piracy Problem? · · Score: 4, Insightful

They say "gamers need a way to download games legally." Well guess what, people don't download games cause they like downloading, they download cause the games cost $50+! And then you have expansion packs, etc, that are another $40-50, sequels, etc etc etc. And then even at that, only 10% of the games you buy will be worthwhile. I know Halo is an excellent game, but I can safely say that Mac users hold something against Microsoft because they basically stole Bungie, and Halo, and since Halo was debuted over 3 years ago - on a mac - that grudge will never go away.

All they have to do is start charging LESS for their games and they will make up profits in the numbers of games sold. Look at Avril Lavigne - she sold over a million albums in the US cause they were only $8.99 or something like that, not $20 like most artists. I see games in the store every day ,and I always say to myself "if that game was $20 cheaper, I would be buying it right now."

But don't even get me started on Sims games - they have made SO much money out of those expansions (Which are basically collections of the stuff you can get for free on the net, legally) it's not even funny.

  12. light? on Would Ansel Adams Have Gone Digital? · · Score: 1

What is wrong with all of those example photos? They all display rich colours and almost NO use of light whatsoever. It's not all about quality - digital will never be able to capture light the way a film camera can. Film is a chemical process, very much affected by light. A CCD just simply can't capture light in the same way, get the same sense of exposure, and get the same effects. Ansel Adams loved to work with light, just look at his B&W work and you will see it's all about contrast. Unless you manipulate after taking a photo, digital can't achieve that kind of thing - especially in low-light situations!

  18. old news? on Holographic Keypads Float Into View · · Score: 1

I used a similar system at the 2003 Detroit Auto show. Ford had an interesting kiosk set up consisting of a frosted plate of glass with an image projected on to it from behind, giving that "Minority Report" kind of look. Some kiosks had a plastic thing that went in a U shape around the bottom and sides which was about one foot from the screen. Move your hand around in there, up and down and sideways, and the cursor on screen would work. Now, this is how I would assume this technology works, though what has me confused is how they manage to project holograms in the air, something I've never seen before (in real time that is). A similar item, is the keyboard that is projected on to a table or any surface, but one hanging in the air, well thats a different story.

My 1993 Cherokee puts out better sound, and the two rear speakers don't even work, and to top that I'm using a tape adapter as well. So, I wouldn't even want to put an iPod in there at all... who says it has to live in your car? It would just be a waste since the sound systems stink so much.
