Gosh, I noticed a major climactic change beginning a few months ago. My prediction is that it will again change a few months from now.
Oh, wait... this has happened every year that I can remember.
What about the junk, er um software Microsoft gives away for free? Or does bundling programs for free not count in this case?
What if these young coders just say, "Yea, for your company I can take this OS program, that OS program, that OS database and implement and customize them for your company for $XXX/hr because I know this stuff inside and out"?
What if the profit motive is secondary to the personal value/recognition motive?
What if we just got on whith our lives and write what we like and to heck with those who can't make money off of us?
What if the real value in OS software is that it provides a mechanism for leaning how to write secure code, how to develop in an mega-colaberative environment, helps close the digital divide and benefits everyone?
phan-tom (fan'tuhm) n.
1. an apparition or specter (The company)
2. an appearance or illusion without
material substance, as a dream image,
mirage, or optical illusion. (The device)
3. a person or thing of merely illusory
power, status, efficacy, etc (Timothy Roberts!)
Thanks to Random House Webster's Dictionary for clueing me in.
Now, as you can probably tell from the tone of my post, I've more-or-less concluded that there is basically no chance that MS will ever allow Office.NET to run on any non-MS.NET framework. They'll keep back just enough to insure that their Office cash cow continues.
Ant their pattent of XML is just the beginning.
I wonder if these things could be used to make a "Global". The nifty pop-out communicators that were used on the Sci-fi show "Earth Final Conflict".
They were pretty cool video communication devices in the show. I always wanted one...now maybe I can!

I have removed all the proprietary code you have not divulged from my Linux derivative projects. I know it is no longer there because, after extensive tests, I cannot find it.
If you can find additional code that is not there, but you believe to be proprietary to SCO then please let me know and I will make sure it really is not there.
Thank you

We will probably discover that this whole lawsuit was simply engineered to prop up the stock value so the major holders could make a quick buck before the enevitable death of SCO.
Some of the older crowd may remember the 60's when a flash mob was known as a "Happening" (supposidely created by Yoko Ono)... I am showing my age!
Only difference is we got together spontaneously in a park or other common area to think of peace and love, smoke some pot, have a few beers and basically kick back.
What's old is new, what's new is old.
Too bad his.mpg of the most spectacular explosion wasn't caused by the CD spinning at high velocity... but was caused by him throwing another CD at the spinning disk.
I have DSL and have 1.44MB download and 746MB upload. IMHO I should be able to max out this bandwidth 24/7 because that is what I am paying for. If I want to hog my bandwidth downloading P2P files, what's the big deal? It is my choice how I use the bandwidth I am paying for.

Isn't it obvious.... he dropped the other one!
Does this mean his face is the butt of many jokes?

No Silly, we all got it from SCO's System V

Aparently you have not tried Paint Shop Pro. Under $100, does most of what Photoshop does and is much easier to use.

Don't you realize that MS never removes dead code from its software! Most of Win98 still exists in XP.
No problem... All we have to do is send our trash and garbage back on the return flight.
Of course this is possible.... 5000 channels alone will be broadcasting re-runs of Gilligan's Island!

Imagine the lower health care costs if the drug companies could make up their research costs, but once done, would have to distribute at cost!
