I agree, but if you or I got caught perpetrating a DOS attack on mpaa.com there is a good chance we'd go to jail. These people never will because they are special and we're not. That's my main issue.

It does not support Visual Studio 2008. Only 2003 and 2005. Boo!

It does seem to be more than a physics engine, though. It comes with an asset manager with plugins for 3DS, Maya and XSI to ease conversion of scenes into Havok. This could be seen as additional features or bloat depending your point of view.

Shut down the forum, which is what they might as well do if they start asking for real verification. Would YOU give the Washington Post your credit card number? Or your driver's license? Also, they would have to actually check the validity of the info, which, in the case of credit cards means they need accurate billing info. If they don't do this I can use a credit card generator to make a number that will pass any passive verification they could use. Trolls on forums are a fact of life. Deal with them.

No, this commment would classify you as a bit of a n00b. You still using Ubuntu? You can get broadcom cards to work using firmware from linuxwireless + the b43 kernel module. I personally prefer to just compile the Zen Kernel from git (not to be confused with Xen). It's bleeding edge and fast. http://waninkoko.info/?q=node/14 Otherwise, just build the kernel module and get the firmware. I'm graduated from Kubuntu to Arch, and now am switching from Arch to Gentoo so I can have even more control and more speed. *blink*

Is that actually true for OS X? I've heard that many releases actually ran faster than their predecessors. I'm not a Mac expert. All I know is my old iBook won't run 10.4 or higher. I wouldn't expect it to, really - it's ancient. But system requirements are going up and that was my point.
  17. Not the problem on Vista is Slower, But XP Is Still Dying · · Score: 4, Insightful

The problem is not the increase in resource use. This is nothing new. Every release of Windows, most releases of OS X and even some new flavors of Linux have increased resource use because they do more. The big problem for Microsoft this go-'round is that Vista really doesn't give you enough reason to accept the increased resource use. XP is a perfectly fine OS and to get people to move away, especially if that move is to a resource hog, you really need to drop the hammer and give people a kick-ass must-have OS. MS clearly failed to do that in Vista and they're paying for it now.
