  1. Your Arguement? on Justice Dept. Raids Homes of File Swappers · · Score: 4, Insightful

"But you DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE IT."

Really, says who... you? The law? I'd guess your arguement as to why copyright infrindgement is immoral really should be longer than a single sentence to be compelling.

Let's not forget that copyright property is a state-sponsored temporary monopoly which creates a scarcity which does not correspond to any state in reality. No such scarcity exists or would exist except as created by law. If these idea monopolists get to uppity, as I see they have been doing, it is then time to change the law.

I guess the answer then is to reduce copyright length so these people are not 'criminal'. I'd say 14 years like it was originally in America, but perhaps 5 years would work even better :).

I agree, its about legality unless someone has a moral arguement I've yet to see.

If Mexico wants to do away with copyright or not to enforce it since they think that artifical barrieres on the flow of information and ideas are wrong then let them do so. Link minded Americans can also benefit from this standpoint as well vis a vis cheaper text books.

I also think it as a reminder that perhaps America's own copyright length should be reduced to the level it was at the beginning: 14 years.

    Copyrighting the President

The US president owns neither his words nor his image - at least not when he speaks in public on important matters. Anyone is free to use what he says, and the way he says it, to criticize or to praise. The president, in this sense, is free. But what happens when the commander in chief uses private venues to deliver public messages, holding fewer press conferences and making more talk-show appearances? Who controls his words and images then?

Yes, the photography is gratification incidental to the actual act itself. How is banning child pornography on Freenet going to reduce sexual acts that would happen anyway?

"And since this is an addiction"

I see no proof that pornography or sex is defacto an 'addiction'. I am sure it might be argued it *can* be, and if such is the case I prefer that the pedophiles will find an outlet on Freenet instead of on a child.
