No kidding. A BB is a BUSINESS tool. If you want a no nonsense device with a physical keyboard and superior email and message handling, a BB is still the best.
Better to rule in hell than serve in heaven. The Gates foundation is self serving, promoting tax shelters through trusts, and self promotion masquerading as charity. their " charity" amounts to token amounts compared to their corporate investments. Regardless, the world will never love Gates, the road to personal redemption will be long and lonely.
In North America, Teachers are consistently one of the least respected, poorest paid professionals, yet they work some of the longest hours (out of altruism) of anyone. Those teachers who don't burn out after their first few years, and continue to make it a career are the true heroes.

E-learning does work. It works well in developing countries too, where local teachers may be weak and lack even the most basic skills. However research consistently shows that having a real teacher is superior (for a variety of reasons) to just relying on some static videos or interactive tutorials on a computer. Interestingly, training teachers in developing countries is still much cheaper and sustainable than deploying e-learning technology (ie. computers). Bill Gates has many technology initiatives in developing countries, but dig a little deeper, they have accomplished little (well, aside from getting some schools free Microsoft products).
I would gladly pay a small tax for super fast internet access...but the internet has to be free, no filtering, no censorship, no throttling, no blocking torrents ect. Information wants to be free, but there is no free lunch.
- do push-ups and sit-ups every morning (reduces sores and reduces chances of deep vein thrombosis!)
- don't just eat pizza and ramen! Consume at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily
- keep hydrated! You're in England now, Tea is cheap!
- Be sure to catch the morning sun! Find a sunny window and soak in the nourishing strength of the rays. You don't want rickets!
- personal grooming improves self-esteem and keeps up morale. Just because you're stuck in a tiny room with few visitors doesn't mean you should let your hair grow out and start braiding. Beards are for nerds and mountain men. Buzz cut looks professional and sharp!
- along with personal grooming, iron your clothes for public appearances (err...skype video chats). A snappy dresser shows leadership and determination.
- use the free time you have wisely; catch up on lost episodes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Mad Men - hey, you might even learn something.
- solitude = deep thought = time to read! Like past unjustely imprisoned geniuses, Napoleon, Galileo, Ann Frank ect..., all found solace and comfort in their books. Cherish the printed page!
- The Harrods food court is across the street; use this opportunity to train your culinary palette. I suggest starting with Mexican and working your way to Indonesian.
- remember, it could always be worse! Nelson Mandela didn't have access to hi-speed internet (though he did get daily walks out doors: but everythings a trade off!)
- Oh and lastly, never forget; the first duty of the political prisoner is escape! Good luck Sir!
Rising temperatures, increase drought, more importantly, increased rain and flooding, will all ensure the spread mosquito vectors. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the newly mutated strains of Malaria to make a resurgence. Par the course, all we can do is adapt to this new life.
Buy DEET, 50-90% concentration, apply liberally. The higher concentration stuff is rather strong, but you can spray it on your clothes (ie. Socks, shoes, sleeves).
iPad mini will probably sport a 1024x786 display, the smaller dimensions of the screen will make the picture look sharp, and apps will not have to be retooled to work on the resolution. It's the obvious choice.
What is with carrying stuff in your pockets? Do you really carry your smart phone in your pocket? Even those are huge, unless one is walking around in oversized cargo pants.
Considering you are typing this on a computer, connected to the internet. Face it Luddite, ebooks, internet, computers, tablets, are the FUTURE, and the future is now.
Once the tablets are deployed, the power to instantly update the curriculum via internet updates is powerful. The ability to add additional content, provide supplemental materials, tutorials, videos. The possibilities are endless. Tablets are indeed just a tool, but they are also a key to the world. They will enable millions of students to experience the wider world and do and learn things that were not possible before.
LED technology can replace the sun.
Then why are you posting on slashdot? Back to the grindstone with you!
God is just visiting New York to cast his early voting ballot.

...walking around outside with a brown paper bag over my head. NOW who's paranoid? FOOLS!!!

....when the only tool you have is a sledgehammer....
Most Apple buyers don't need advice, they already know they want an Apple.
Samsung will do nothing, they are beholden to Apple. Apple is worth more than Samsung, Google, Microsoft, RIM, and Nokia combined.

Memo to Staff: Cut back on the Pron.
Apple usually has a , good, better, best category... so an iPad Mini would fill in the "good" slot. No fragmentation there!

Three eyed fish are delicious.
The Joker's performance this time round should snag Heath Ledger another post-humus Acadamy Award (quite an accomplishment all things considered).

The great iBook G3 from 1999 AKA 'the toilet seat'.
