Actually, yes we should. Its a crime how eager we are to burry and/or tear down our history in this country. Just think if the Romans decided to tear down the Colleseum when they were finished with it, like so many demolished stadiums in the US (including some architecturally significant ones, like Mellon (formerly civic) arena in Pittsburgh, destined to become a parking lot.

Just two quick examples of the COST of the change, due to lost productivity - I live in the Eastern US, and someone in Ireland missed a conference call with us because everyone on both sides of the Atlantic thought that Ireland was always 5 hours ahead (for some reason, people found it impossible to fathom that this wasnt the case if we changes our clock and they didn't, but whatever). Example number two - a contractor in brazil was going to take down our servers at 5:00 EDST but actually took them down at 4:00 since they didnt know about the time change.

Who the Star Wars series was about kept changing over time. I bought the original Star Trek novelization in the 70s, and the subtitle on it was "From the adventures of Luke Skywalker". During the original trilogy time, Lucas went on record as saying the robots were the only characters that would be in all 9 (yes, 9) films, and the story was really about them. Now with the second trilogy, Lucas changed his stand once again and said the story was really about Anakin Skywalker. GL is the master of revisionist history.

Some are. I was in a meeting recently that was basically a brainstorming session on how to improve the performance of an application. We had developers, DBAs, project managers, etc. present. If someone had an idea ("lets add an index to the database") the DBA was there to provide input. If a developer had an idea ("Lets eliminate that piece of the code, it doesnt do anything anyway") we had business people present to give their yay or nay. This way, we were able to come up with a list of viable possibilties in a short amount of time, rather than going back and forth for weeks over emails, etc.

    Not all meetings are bad.
