I would think those things are next to useless for this type of application, since they can be reset by the user (i.e. the driver). For example, if I reset my mpg indicator at the top of a hill on a highway and take my foot off of the accelerator, I can easily peg the meter at 99 mpg until I reach the bottom of the hill or step on the gas. Resetting it while spending a lot of time in the city versus during a long highway trip can also skew the results (albeit in less dramatic fashion)
Well that will tell them the mileage, but it wont tell them how many gallons of gas were used to achieve that mileage - unless you have to input your VIN every time you buy gas to track that as well.
It's not. The fear is that this picture will PROMOTE underage drinking in others by legitimizing getting drunk with the picture of the boozed-up teacher.
How many people read this as "Death of the UPMC" (local Pittsburgh hospital chain that has bought out every other hospital in the region to form a Microsoft-like monopoly).
Great first question - and a chance for candidates to show off their knowledge of search algorithms. Do you just try dropping from the first floor and continue linearaly until you find the floor that the marble breaks? Do you do every other floor? Implement some kind of binary search or more sophisticated technique? And the fact that you only have two marbles means that you are only allowed one "Failure" of the marble drop to make a determination. I bet there are plenty of hard-core programmers that might not get this because they can't make the leap from the dropping marbles problem (WTF?) to computer search algorithms - and that is likley the kind of out-of-box (I can't believe I used that phrase in a sentance) thinking google is looking for.
Yep, I got one too - around the time they were opening the Pittsburgh (where I live) office. I'm sure they just do a keyword search on monster and other job boards (Doesn't even require a "Sophisticated" search engine like google) and contact every resume they find in the proper geographic area.
I do remember in the dot-com heyday, however, a client I worked for paying half a million dollars for a domain name. Not sure what the records was. Considering they sold the company 2 years later for $200 million it was a pretty good return on investment.
I remember that machine well - a friend of mine actually had one. Without the memory expansion pack, it was pretty much useless. Still, if you you wanted a computer (And who didn't?) you couldn't get any cheaper than that. I remember towards the end, they were literally giving them away for free at our local service station with purchase of an oil change.
The difference is, no one has exploited the Apple security loopholes yet, while with Microsoft they are reacting after there have already been attacks.
Sounds better than lock up. Didn't you ever do stupid stuff when you were 15 years old? Some punishment is in order, but not to the extent of essentially ruining their lives due to poor judgement. As the judge on The Simpsons might say, I dismiss the case on the grounds of boys will be boys.
The Real WTF (tm) is that they would jail a student for making a bomb threat, even if a hoax. What ever happened to just a week of detention? If we are that paranoid, then the Terrorists Have Already Won (tm).
What are you missing? The 100 or so albums collecting dust in my basement because I have nothing to play them on anymore. I think this is a great idea - not for sound quality per se, but to listen to all the old music out there, including albums that were never released on CD (like "Buffalo Rocks 1981" and my collection of Benny Mardones albums)
As someone who has a brain tumor (not a glioma, but still malignant) I keep a sharp eye out for new developments. It seems like every other day a new "cure" is announced, but there is a LOT more work to do. Still, this is a good sign and the more research that goes on the better. Even if this ultimately doesn't prove to be as big a help as it initially appears to be, its one step closer. One thing that these types of treatments DO do, which is often overlooked, is prolong the life (And improve the quality of life) of people with the disease, making it something that is "managed" like say Diabetes as opposed to just being a death sentence. I'm 4 and a half years out of what my doctor told me was a 3-5 year life expectency, and I fully intend to beat that by a wide margin.
Considering we live in an era where people deny both the moon landing and the holocaust, I can see that our world WOULD be a different place if we recklessly abandon our history. Thats not to say every little thing is worth saving.
Right figure, but wrong concept. In business/finance "M" is 1000 and "MM" is 1,000,000. Post should have read "40MM Vista Licenses in 100 Days"
Pong. It was based on ping-pong (hence the name, not tennis).
1. For my home security system
2. For my DSL
Until I can get around those two requirements, I will have to keep my landline active.

No one? That's what I thought.

Yes, and Canada is part of (North) America, but Candadians are never called Amercians. When you say "American" you mean someone from the USA.
You're right - I didn't know what the British verions were like, but it is the Timex-Sinclair 1000 that I was thinking of.

Peskly power problems? I'd be more worried about the pesky laws of physics problem!

I know its illegal - but weather the punishment to a 15 year old fits that particular crime is up for debate.
I guess you are not familiar with the concept of detention (as opposed to suspension). It means MORE school, you have to stay in the evenings.
Huh? Isn't the entire POINT of cookies pretty much so sites recognize you when you return? Sorry, but this statement wins todays "No Duh" award.

My iPod already has 8 Gigabytes, and is one of the smaller ones. Ohhh, you mean 6th generation. Wonder who else read this wrong.
Ummm start your own online movie business? Apple is under no obligation to server markets that it does not want to.
