Will this 'campaing' reach other countries or do they have a system where it will be only sent to USA residents? I can't imagine what will happen when someone in China learns that Bush is running for president in his country... Btw, I exept Hotmail to filter my spam, it does it quite good 'cause I haven't even seen a copy of MyDoom. I wonder if it'll be so good with this too.
SUN has asked my dad to test it and tell them what he thinks of it. So I installed it on my computer (booting win2k, gentoo and now JDS), and to tell you the truth it is missing a LOT of application and most of them are out of date. There isn't even a system where someone can grab a binary from the internet with a single click. So my thought are that if linux is going to prevail in desktop, it will eigher be with Mandrake or Lindows. Ximian would be my choice if I was looking for a free easy-to-use desktop because it is very easy to install applications and update with their Red Carpet.
What I would like to know is how this affects us. What open source programs use XML? I know AMSN uses xml to save it's configuration, do they have to change it now? I, personally, think this is bullshit. If I understand right, they patented the use of XML to store information, which XML was made for. It's like a car company getting a patent for "using cars for transportation".
The verus writter (Andy) had a great and original idea with the viruses. He released 2 viruses whose only point was to spread as fast as they could and open a backdoor, with the smoke screen of DOSing MS and SCO, but no real damage to the computers. Now comes along C, I don't see it doing any damage other than slowing down internet, but imagine if it did. It can spread quite fast through the backdoor left by very fast first two viruses.
MolecularExpressions.com has galleries full of images of ordinary materials under extraordinary magnification. Now they can add magnification of a slashdoted server to their gallery!!!
...is that they keep stuff consistent and Joe Sixpack dosn't have to choose from a big variety. It's different with Linux, since Joe would have to take a look at a lot of distros to decide which one to use. But with Windows it WAS only one newest version. Microsoft now gives out many types of XPs (Home,Pro, and soon to come Light) like Linux has a lot of distros. How could a average Joe figure out which edition to choose?
That kid Mario says that he wants a challenge (I assumed that since he said that destroying disks is too easy and lame). What is the challenge in writting a Windows virus? He should create a Linux virus...
http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/fractals/qua ternion/ I followed their instruction for what to search google and found their new link. Are we gonna take that down too?
The reason why I say this is because I look back to Windows 95, for example, which was accepted on the desktop yet both Gnome and KDE are far more advanced as GUIs - yet people still make the "not ready" statement. If it's so good when it's not ready, imagine how great it will be when it it ready.
I am 15 also and have been using Linux since grade 5. And now I get lost in Windows, keep forgeting stuff. Also I have to move my mouse from point A to point B. In linux I can do most stuff over the console, which is faster. I am so used to OpenOffice that now I don't even know how to use MS Office. I always have to ask my mom, who used to teach MS Office, how I do something.
When it was Netscape vs Microsoft, M$ could create it's properiaty standards and make bugs in Windows that could crash it and make it look like Netscape's fault. This is using their popularity to the advantage. But with google, they can't use the popularity. All they can do that I can think of is to make IE not allow the user to go to google.com and show some kind of 404 Error. Help me out here, but wouldn't be this kind of illegal?

They are already working on 2.6? But 2.5 is still in beta...
...does anyone know around when Zaurus SL-6000 will come out?

...we will beat Microsoft in 30 years!!!

I can't connect eighter. Not with AMSN or with GAIM.

Whoa, those guys have the same root password as me!!!

Some one should write a virus that will allow us to read NY Times without a suscribtion.
They should run their webpage on the supercomputer. It's lagging already...
I clicked on the online demo 30 minutes ago and it's still loading most of the pictures...
but it's slow and unwieldy
And now Slashdot slowed it down more...
How about Linux, are we safe? I didn't see any reference...

You guys are mean. First they the googled and now they get slashdoted....
I've got good news for you. You aren't the only one...
If I remember correctly, it is named after Australian animal because Linus auctioned the rights to the name at the Australian Linux Conference.

Nope, they switched to Linux today.
