Moving around on the earth's surface will shift its centre of gravity. This in turn will move its gravitational field, which will subtly alter the orbits of everything in the universe. So unless you also want to be sued by this crazy babushka, I suggest that you stay very very still. come to think of it, even breathing would be a bad idea.
When the vikings first discovered Greenland, they called it that because it was a green and relatively pleasent land. That's not a description that one would use today, despite the effects of a supposed global warming. The point is that climate change has always been a feature of the Earth, especially in the last few thousand years. Its seems to me that the USA are, for once, in the right.
I loose about 1 lines worth of height, and no loss of width, as a result of the ad window, which at 1280x1024 resolution isn't a problem. Besides, the ads are usually relevant to the page that I'm looking at, and I have saved money in the past as a result of clicking on them. Its a win-win situation.
Privacy is just plain unnatural. It only in the last centuray that its had any real meaning. Before mass transport, everyone knew everyone else in their area, and everyone knew everyone else's buisness.
A few days ago my ISP (plusnet) had some major system problems. I couldn't get a connection for several hours using ASDL, (and I'm still feeling the trauma), but I was able to use one of my old dial-up accounts with a different ISP. Yes it was slooooooooow, but I didn't have a single point of failure.
Even if I lost the phone line I still have some other options.
I could go to my office.
Go to a friend's house.
Connect using my mobile phone; very slooooooooooooooooooooooow
Or as a last resort I guess I could drive to another part of the country and use Airsnort to hack into a WIFI hotspot.
So there really isn't a single point of failure in the net.
I've met many Americans and they are all nice people. However its American introspectiveness that's the problem.
How can America expect the rest of the world to like it when it only take an interest when it is thretened ?
For instance, the coverage on the accession of 10 new states to the European Union barely got a mention on the American news sites - despite this affecting millions of people and making the EU the world biggest economic entity.
Would you expect you husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend to like you if you decided to ignore them
As for WWI & WWII thanks - truly, I guess Americans in their 70's and older get it. But the younger ones don't.
Who cares whether Google is reading emails, the FBI's got there first.
Its the volts that kill. Blame the hardware

Can Software Kill?
·
· Score: 1
I've worked on several saftey critical systems, and I can assure everyone that all the software that I've written is safely held on paper tape that's too weak even to be used as a hanging rope. However, start running it on a computer, and then the fun starts. Planes crash and nuclear power stations go bang.
The moral of the story, software safe, hardware dangerous, powered hardware running software - teotwawki.
25 years ago I started programing in CESIL (Computer Education in Schools Instructional Language), it made the assemblers of the day look feature rich (sic).
Today's edition of The Sun (claims its a UK newspaper) had a picture of MP Clare Short's head - (she's the one next to Tony Blair in this picture), pasted onto the bare breasted body of a nubile page 3 girl (if your American - think Hooters).
I can't think of a a more damming reason for banning all photoshopesq software.
As per usual, the civil liberty brigade are up in arms over what could actually be a beneficial weapon in the fight against crime. The same arguments were rolled out when identity card were proposed by the UK Government. i.e. "Its a bad idea because of problems x and y and z".
The question isn't whether taking control over speeding cars is good or bad, its "Will it make our streets safer ?"
For instance, if the number of deaths and injuries to innocent bystanders caused by drivers trying to outrun the police is less than the number who are killed or injured by the use of the technology then the answer to the question "Will it make our streets safer ?" is yes.
If someone puts something on their web site that is defamatory, then I want to know who they are and where they live so that I can take them to court. So the whois data has to be public.
"... the French can be insufferably arrogant for such a small country..." Je ne pas Francais or summit like that. But being British I as a thing or two 'bout the frogs. So what 'ave CD's gorra do wit t' war on't Iraq ?
Oh and the French are a member of the G7/8, and also on the UN's permanent security council. Which means that they ain't exactly small.
But back to the question of the CD's, "Did the buyer also claim for time wasted in getting a refund, and for the consequential physiological stress ?"
Iraq - no nukes - gets invaded - lots of dead people on both sides. (and counting).
N Korea has nukes - no sign of it getting invaded - nobody has died.
I worked for many years as a Hardware and QA engineer in the aerospace industry before I became a professional programmer (which Ive now been doing for over 10 years). I've got an engineering degree from Brunel University in London, one of the UK's top engineering universities. In short I know what engineering is, an I've enough experience in the software industry to make a reasonable judgement on the issue. And programming isn't an engineering discipline, its an art. Software develoment though, is engineering.

Better still, start calling them software terroristorisers. That should get the Shrub's interest.

No worries! Kylie is about to release a cover
