You do not need to do ANYTHING other than register the mac address with them then point to google as your homepage.

While yes there were previous mp3 players and there are phones that do some of the things the iPhone does, none of the previous mp3 or phones will do what the ipod and iphone will do.
They will bring these too the masses. Heck in 3 days they have captured a nice chunk of the upscale market. Give them a year and they will own a huge chunk of the business.

Well i live in the heartland in a town/county of under 30,000....we have excellent GSM coverage by ATT. Granted compared to the iPhone ATT service sucks. But ALL USA based cell providers SUCK!!
I have activated 3 iPhones so far without a single glitch. My friend had a problem but let me explain...he had a business package same as i did..but tried at first to activate to that account....THATS A NONO!!! See I read the literature....and COMPREHENDED that ATT said no business accounts. So i just got a new number/account. Then had ATT shut off the old phone and move the number (not the account to my iPhone) the other 2 iphones i activated were new accounts tied in a family package to my new iphone account with old #. No issues. A lot of individuals had packages with just them on it...but were business packages to get the data pack they needed...they didnt realize this and thus the problem.
Anyways...who didnt expect the cell company to be the worst part of this whole thing....i mean cell companies, like phone companies are THE DEVIL!!!

We have a MAP price on our specialty products. If a Dealer advertises below a certain price they will loose their authorized dealership for my products and also will NEVER be allowed to buy them again.

I own an international manufacturing company with facilities in the USA (Kentucky) and in Thailand. I employ over 1100 people worldwide. I talked with my IT dept...and they are under orders to make it work....like i even had to tell them.:) Hell the head of my Thailand plant is literally busting a nut to get one...i thought he was gonna scream when i had to inform him that at least for now they only work on Cingular/AT&T Network.
So the fact that my company will use these phones shows that people do not know WTF they speak of. I am not the only CEO that has bet on Apple. And as for betting in business I do a damn fine job...as jobs leave the USA I have grown our manufacturing and profitability here in the USA. He never once cared that i was buying an entry level systems designed for home users but instead using them in my business. As he said "Buy what fits your need best." We have a MAP price on our specialty products. If a Dealer advertises below a certain price they will loose their authorized dealership for my products and also will NEVER be allowed to buy them again. I can dictate who i sell too....it is still a free country and i am not required by law to make goods for people i dont watnt too. Now we will be revising the MAP to a minimum sale price. And again dealer caught devaluing my brand by discounting will be gone!!! I made the products, and i get to say who sells them....what makes you think you have the right to dictate to me what i sell them for or who i sell them too.... Sure you can argue well you sell them to Dealer X so doesnt he have a right to sell them however he likes....SURE HE DOES ..... ONCE!!! Nothing says i have to sell more to him and thats exactly how its done.
The law was intended to protect against large corporations who have a near monopoly on items. My item while unique is not the only one on the market. It is the highest performance and most accurate....and thats why we demand a certain price.....we spend a lot of time, money and effort making the best there is...and thus do not want one nappy headed ho dealer who needs money destroying our good name and the margins we have built into the products to allow dealers to make a living by selling our products. We try not to charge any more than we need too and we try to allow our dealers to make a decent margin.
So for those that are automatically knee jerking this is bad....you may not understand how this law has previously cost you more money. Now i dont have to dance around the point, now i can make clean and efficiently. In the end i will spend less policing dealers and in the end this will save me money. What saves me money and reduces my costs = lower costs on goods.
Oh and for those saying this will effect the price of gas....you have no clue of what you speak.
Let me suggest you go and get gas/oil outta the ground and refine it. Let me know after your paying for your first loss of life, or explosion or enviromental clean up. Or better yet...go drill for oil in the gulf of mexico...dont find it or dont find enough and cap the hole....thn you sell it 100 years passes and the government comes back to you and your family and makes them pay to clean it up. See you can never shed the liability of the well...NEVER in off/close shore drilling. Not everything they stick in the license is defensible or legally binding. That is why they do not basically EVER take anybody to court on the EULA! They WILL LOOSE! They claim they have the right to dictate what i do with the software and in some respects they do. But they cannot for me to run on any particular machine...even apple's OSX license will hold up to that. As long as i buy the software and dont make illegal copies they will not have a chance at keeping me from using it on any type of machine i want. Just because they put it in the license DOES NOT MAKE IT LEGALLY BINDING. This is EXACTLY like FORD saying i cant modify or do whatever i want with the truck i buy from them. Yes there is software in their computer in the truck...if i mod it to make more HP/Torque (but dont resell that mod or thier code) there is NOTHING...READ NOTHING they can do...much like me buying a game or OS and making it run on a Timex/Sinclair. They can get mad, hell they can file suit...they will lose. Get a life dude...EULA and licenses are not ALL BINDING ALL CONTROLING DOCUMENTS. Well your wrong there. I own an international manufacturing company with facilities in the USA (Kentucky) and in Thailand. I employ over 1100 people worldwide. I talked with my IT dept...and they are under orders to make it work....like i even had to tell them. :) Hell the head of my Thailand plant is literally busting a nut to get one...i thought he was gonna scream when i had to inform him that at least for now they only work on Cingular/AT&T Network.
So the fact that my company will use these phones shows that people do not know WTF they speak of. I am not the only CEO that has bet on Apple. And as for betting in business I do a damn fine job...as jobs leave the USA I have grown our manufacturing and profitability here in the USA. I tend to buck trends as it is where there are opportunities.

I have now had several long discussions with my rep and explained that a Mac Mini for most of our users was all they needed. He never once cared that i was buying an entry level systems designed for home users but instead using them in my business. As he said "Buy what fits your need best." I replied thats why i am buying Macs. So for all you dell fan boys heres one more case of why Dell should not be purchased from...NO VENDOR tells me what i do with the gear i buy....NONE!
