    dunno, but siteadvisor gives me a nice green tick in google search for those that are supposedly safe... ooh you're in luck, there's an IE version as well as a Firefox one... but I wouldn't know if it was actually safe to visit them using IE

    oh come on please... I'm a dedicated Linux user at home, but at work I have no choice... they upgraded everybody to XP a month ago and I'm actually impressed. I haven't managed to crash it yet... and in a software house I'm running some pretty flaky, heavy resource using, development software all the time...

    And, honestly, I'd love to play my old games again. But my 486 recently died, so they don't run anymore. :(

    Dosbox to play them on and "home of the underdogs" to get the files so that you haven't got to scratch around hunting for an old 5 1/4 drive... (sorry haven't got time for links, can't do that much browsing at work)

    why don't they do what I did... use mindmaps and back them up with a tape recorder and a digital camera... listen to the lecture at leisure later and refine the mindmaps...

    plus, they're not really trying to take notes down on those laptops... they're IM'ing each other or catching up with some cruddy blog...

    OK then, riddle me this... what if I were at home, my only phone was a "Skype" connection via my personal computer, and at the moment I desperately NEED to make a 911 call, I can't because some crappy DRM from some crappy Britney single that I'd had in the CD drive disabled the audio input on my soundcard and didn't re-enable it on removal of the crappy Britney single???

    Ubuntu breezy installs Kaffe by default as I discovered to my dismay when Azureus stopped working after upgrading from hoary to breezy (All my Java symlinks got changed to point to Kaffe. Even re-installing "real" java again failed to get Azureus working until Kaffe was removed).

    ATMs are already using two-factor: something you have (ATM card) and something you know (PIN). What is it that you want them to be doing instead?

    Well as the damned things photograph you anyway when you make the transaction, then it shouldn't be too hard to get them to do face recognition as well... with a voice prompt to remove any ski-mask or motorcycle helmet if it can't find enough features.

    only 5 unconnected days in twelve months!!!... where I work, I only get disciplinary action if I have a suspicious pattern and more than twelve in a year... hell, I could be signed off sick for six weeks solid before the wheels are set in motion to assess my future position with the company.
