The live CD did something to my onboard network card while it was being shut down... I've just spent the past hour trying to get networking working on this machine and in the end, the only solution was to boot up Kororaa and when it was running (and the network card LEDS were happily blinking) kill the power. Subsequent booting into Ubuntu now works (it was hanging after failing to synch the clock to the ntp server)
till i can upload my company files to an American advertising based company so they can rifle through our documents looking for whatever them or their goverment takes their fancy
you do this right now with Microsoft everytime you press the "send report" button in the post crash dialog...
Pensions funds don't have this luxury... if their rules tell them to invest in a particular stock because of its position, then they have to buy shares in it. It's the big fund holders who're upset over Google, not the little guys.
There is a ginormous difference in 15M degrees F and 15M Kelvin.
not really, they're still less than an order of magnitude apart... who's quibbling about such a small difference... of course to you and me, 1.9 times a ridiculously high temperature is still a ridiculously high temperature...
don't forget that sickle cell anemia, while debilitating in itself, confers a positive advantage in that the sufferers are less susceptible to malaria, the major killer in the region. So eventually, the affected population in malaria free areas, should lose the gene for sickle cell anemia because they will select against it, whilst it will remain in the population in those areas which do suffer from malaria because of the positive selection. We just haven't had enough time/generations in malaria free areas for the sickle cell anemia gene to reduce in frequency.
what will be illegal: possession or actual usage of them? cos technically speaking I'm in breach here simply for having several common utilities installed on this Ubuntu box. Tools I use to ensure my own systems are secure...
wow, your firm will then effectively lose it's corporate memory...
I work on a multi-year project and I often have to refer to emails from several years ago... especially when pointing out to the customer exactly what they asked us to do... or what they said when asked a specific question to clarify conflicting source data or requirements...
kind of like the thin edge of the camel's nose... just waiting for all the campaign financing to get the rest of the camel through and into the tent...

it could have been worse though... they could have sold out to MSN... and then everything you upload has it's copyright automatically assigned to Microsoft...

that they sold out to Yahoo... now they insist on you having a Yahoo account in order to post your photos. Yahoo sucks... that amongst many other things...
Apt-get is all very well, but C'n'R gives you the ability to get your hands on legal dvd playback as well as legal win32 codecs (MS did a deal with LinSpire as part of the settlement), not to mention several other things which you can't legally install in certain countries using apt-get.
there's NO such beast as Watt Hours... the capacity of a battery is measured in Amp-Hours... the number of Amps it can supply for one hour or the number of hours it can output one Amp...
dude, you don't need an inverter, you just need a DC to DC convertor and the appropriate plug on the end of the lead. Why convert to AC just to plug the laptop AC adaptor into it... get hold of a Cigar lighter socket (and some leads to hook up to the battery with) and the appropriate Car DC adaptor to run your laptop from.
I have six Ubuntu boxes at home, would I be expected to pay $120 per year or would I be able to get away with just the one CNR subscription for the household?
no, but I was running win2000 on the windows version of Qemu running using WINE on Ubuntu running in vmware on Linux yesterday... just for giggles...
