    no, but I was running win2000 on the windows version of Qemu running using WINE on Ubuntu running in vmware on Linux yesterday... just for giggles...

    The live CD did something to my onboard network card while it was being shut down... I've just spent the past hour trying to get networking working on this machine and in the end, the only solution was to boot up Kororaa and when it was running (and the network card LEDS were happily blinking) kill the power. Subsequent booting into Ubuntu now works (it was hanging after failing to synch the clock to the ntp server)

    Pensions funds don't have this luxury... if their rules tell them to invest in a particular stock because of its position, then they have to buy shares in it. It's the big fund holders who're upset over Google, not the little guys.

    not really, they're still less than an order of magnitude apart... who's quibbling about such a small difference... of course to you and me, 1.9 times a ridiculously high temperature is still a ridiculously high temperature...

    don't forget that sickle cell anemia, while debilitating in itself, confers a positive advantage in that the sufferers are less susceptible to malaria, the major killer in the region. So eventually, the affected population in malaria free areas, should lose the gene for sickle cell anemia because they will select against it, whilst it will remain in the population in those areas which do suffer from malaria because of the positive selection. We just haven't had enough time/generations in malaria free areas for the sickle cell anemia gene to reduce in frequency.

    wow, your firm will then effectively lose it's corporate memory...

    I work on a multi-year project and I often have to refer to emails from several years ago... especially when pointing out to the customer exactly what they asked us to do... or what they said when asked a specific question to clarify conflicting source data or requirements...

    Apt-get is all very well, but C'n'R gives you the ability to get your hands on legal dvd playback as well as legal win32 codecs (MS did a deal with LinSpire as part of the settlement), not to mention several other things which you can't legally install in certain countries using apt-get.

    dude, you don't need an inverter, you just need a DC to DC convertor and the appropriate plug on the end of the lead. Why convert to AC just to plug the laptop AC adaptor into it... get hold of a Cigar lighter socket (and some leads to hook up to the battery with) and the appropriate Car DC adaptor to run your laptop from.

    I have six Ubuntu boxes at home, would I be expected to pay $120 per year or would I be able to get away with just the one CNR subscription for the household?
