Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to ignorance or stupidity.
The security concerns are real, and the law makers are usually genuinely trying to protect "us" from them, but those same people generally don't understand the extent (or lack thereof) of the threats, the technology they're trying to use to prevent them, or the ramifications of their decisions.
Ohh.... That hurts my brain on so many levels.
"...directional markings are provided for optimum signal transfer."
Wouldn't want the electrons to forget which way they were supposed to go, eh?
First they came for the Napster users, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Napster user.
Then they came for the Bittorrenters, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Bittorrenter.
Then they came for the Usenetters, but I didn't speak up because I was a Forumite.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak up.
This makes no sense. If you wipe the drive then there's no partitions to remove. Even if there were partitions, removing them would do nothing as you're only editing the partition table, all the data would still be there.
Safari can block ads using the Safari AdBlock addon. It uses AdBlock+ subscriptions. The only major flaw at this point is the lack of a simple way to disable it on a site you're visiting temporarily. You can put in an ignore list by hand though.
It's got a Pentium 100mHz, 810MB hard drive and a 14" monitor. Granted it's not the oldest piece of hardware in the world, but it still runs 24/7 and was my primary (and newest) system until I built my Athlon XP 2200+ system last September (talk about one hell of an upgrade!) I used that old thing for 5 1/2 years straight! Shove that in your Moore's Law and smoke it!:) I even still have the original packing box with all the contents, books, foam and even the quick setup sheet!

But how will the sharks survive in space?
See? She's so good at you you can't even tell she's there!

For some reason whenever blackholes/wormholes/portals are mentioned in relation to the LHC I can't help but think of Phobos?

Point taken, I concede the issue. Yes, I realize that's unheard of on Slashdot, but some of us can admit that we are not quite perfect.
Actually, it is being used as a noun. The word itself, "fail" is the subject being acted upon; the "thing" in person, place or thing.

My private Internet is better than your private Internet.
Their privacy policy specifically says that they DO keep logs of your IP and search queries.

Why does the fact that they are white need to be brought into this? Is it necessary that everything becomes a race issue?
Sadly I think I'm the only one that got this comment. I'd have modded up if I had points!
...it blend?
You, madam, are my hero. :)
(For now anyway, I'm sure I'll find a new one next week.)
Oh, the irony of it all! :)
That would be the Colony 7. :)
I miss they spinny red lights on the ceiling. That and the crazy old man that worked the short order grill on mid-shift! He made some killer pancakes.
But what really tells you that you're "home" is the vending machines with toothpaste, toothbrushes and razors...
Many of us are bound by NDA not to discuss our salaries...
Wow, that's gotta be a new record. Only 3 comments and the site is down...
