The funny part about all of this is that everyone is trashing it without having the slightest idea of its content, story, or anything about it at all for that matter. All they know is that it's made by the "evil hot coffee people" and it's called bully... That MUST mean that you play this terrible bully who goes around killing people...which is actually quite the opposite...
All this is going to do is leave the kids with more energy after recess which in turn makes them more disruptive. Their discipline problems will probably increase...
You seem to forget that the palestinian "motto" is "Death to Israel." Palestinians as a whole want to wipe Israel off the map and make no secret of it. Many arab nations/leaders believe that the Palestinians are destined to overthrow and destroy all of Israel and kill all of its inhabitants.
A FEW airlines are "bankrupt" and getting government assistance. Very few.
MOST airlines just aren't turning a profit. They're not bankrupt...yet.
Very few airlines are "in the black." Southwest is one of the few that are making decent money at the moment. For several years (and maybe even now) they were the only airline in the US that was still turning a profit...
Honestly...the game is pretty funny. That's one of the reasons I've been enjoying it (on my PSP, btw). The cutscenes and "artificial talking" are pretty entertaining. There's also nothing like walking up to another character in the game, chopping it with the lightsaber, and watching it pop apart at its little lego seams. The sound effects are just priceless.
Not to mention that you can't really "die" in the game. If you die you just respawn right where you were... That definitely lowers the "bang head against desk" moments.
So... If you are a hacker...and you get hired at a company who doesnt know you're a hacker...and you hack something "bad" while at work...by your logic, people outside watching your actions are watching the policy of your employer in action.
Sorry bub, but you're wrong. If *You* take an action then *You* are responsible.
It would likely be POSSIBLE (with enough tinkering), but such things require permission and a license to create from apple. That's something you can bet on never seeing.
One thing that we're all still wondering is how will people control the thing? I haven't seen one explanation for how the center "wheel" (if that's what it is) works. I think we'd all like to see a screenshot of the menu/control systems...
Regardless...the more this guy talks, the more he makes sense. He really seems to understand what gamers (and people) in general WANT out of an entertainment device. I remember when the "Wii-Mote" was first announced back before "Wii" was ever heard...people thought it was ridiculous... Until, that is, developers started showing some of the things that could be done with it. He really brought game control from a veritable stone age to the 21st century. I'm impressed...and that's saying a lot from me concerning consoles...
Don't even get me started on Digg.... *grumble grumble grumble* I've got a love/hate relationship with that place. Sometimes it's great...other times you get 4 or 5 of the same stories on the main page at a time or people posting politics related stories under the videos section...things like that.
"A person is smart, people are dumb." "People" are not ready to do their own editing on social sites....IMHO.
Miniscule? Read my previous reply. You need to shop around before you form some biased opinion against PC gaming. I own a gaming PC and two consoles. It was three consoles until last weekend when I sold one of them. There's nothing "biased" about what I'm saying. I'm dealing with logic. The article at hand is dealing with emotion and worthless conjecture.
Ever heard of best buy? Walmart? Target? These and plenty of other retailers that have PC game sections far larger than any single console section.
The Target I go to often carries about 30 games for each console...and then has an entire aisle featuring PC games.
The Walmart I go to has one whole aisle for PC games and one whole aisle for all brands of console games...
The best buy I go to has 2 aisles for console games and 6 aisles for PC games.
The only major retailer who's done anything in the way of making their PC game sections smaller is gamestop/ebgames. They just cut out the PC games altogether and they deal with 75% used console games now.
The funny thing about your statement is that you fail to realize that 99% of all top-end, ground-breaking First/Third Person Shooters are released on the PC long before they make it to any consoles...
Same with RTS games...and adventure games...and flight simulators...(and MMORPG's)...I could go on and on.
It seems to me like Consoles are a just niche for sports, fighting and racing games...and a lot of those are even released at the same time or slightly earlier on the PC...
There was an article on/. on the recent past talking about how all the "PC's are dying" doomsdayers were all wrong and how PC gaming is making a large comeback.
Consumers don't install flash into their computers now because Flash isn't all that fast... It's (much) faster to have DDR SDRAM than it is to have Flash...and for the purposes that general computer ram is used for, it works great. While it would be nice to have a very fast non-volitile solution, there just isn't anything currently being made in volume at a price worth paying that can compete with the likes of DDR, etc.
MRAM may be the solution to that problem...which is EXACTLY why it will probably make it big once the processes to produce it at cheaper than they are now. It's faster than DDR (much faster from what they say), non volitile, and it has a life-time comperable to any great SDRAM that you can find out there.
By the admission that PRAM does have a limited life time, although longer than Flash, they pretty much are telling consumers that it's not something they would use to replace their hard drive or ddr... Anything that is going to start dying after it gets used a (relatively fixed) certain number of times is not something people are generally going to be interested in. When a person is at a store and a salesperson tells them "this computer has a solid state hard drive which is really fast but will randomly start losing data and dying later in life" do you think many people are going to be interested?
Back in the 80's and 90's filmstrips saw widespread use because they were a convenient and "entertaining" way to get students to learn. They eventually rejected the idea because kids were in "entertainment" mode (so to speak) while watching the filmstrips and really just weren't learning anything. I've got a feeling that this would multiply 10-fold when using laptops unless the machines were designed from the ground up JUST for education and lacked the ability to do anything that wasn't "school-related."
Kids + computers = fun-and-games. These kids go home and do nothing on a computer but check e-mail, surf, chat, play games, and things of that nature. What do you think they're going to do when they're put in a classroom with a computer in front of them? I know when I was in HS and we had classes in the computer lab or library...that's all ANY of us did on them. Things like that don't change.
LOL, while it is annoying when people type in all caps and things like that, I use the caps lock key for legitimate reasons all the time. I'm in a data-mining job working on a UniData database and all UniQuery must be written in all caps. This would be a supreme pain to do sans a Caps-Lock key. This is just one of MANY things that falls under that umbrella. I also use the caps lock key as my "walk" key while playing CS.:-D
Frankly...I find the idea of getting rid of the caps lock key...slightly appalling.:)
...that in order to replace gasoline, 97% of the land mass of the US would have to be nothing but corn to produce the amount of ethanol needed for the "world to keep turning." Not exactly possible.
Can someone refute or verify that claim? It was a reliable source I believe...I just can't remember where I got it from.:-P
It's $32 bucks to buy while it's in beta with a free upgrade to the final release and later to 2.0. It's free to try either way. It's closed source but very cheap. It'll go up to $79 later if you were to wait to buy it until the final release. Paint Shop Pro by Corel is a very capable image editing program and you can usually find it on ebay or other places for under 50 bucks. I found it for $45.
I'm not sure you could call it "easing up." It's more of a mild fear that this "OSS" stuff might actually be posing a threat. While I think MS is a decent company in its own right, they don't really seem to understand what people need anymore. They're so focused on busniness now that the consumers are, quite frankly, getting the shaft.
MS's efforts are decent in some ways, but I think they're going about it for exactly the wrong reasons. They're scared. This stuff should be open....because it should be open. Not for competitions sake.

Israel just wants to be left alone.
That incorrect...

In response to Apple's ridiculous stand on "podcast," CBS is now referring to their "podcasts" as "netcasts."

Yeah since obviously the bush administration sits in the drivers seat of the FCC. Great logic there. "Blame Bush."
An FCC decision has nothing to do with who is president...
It would likely be POSSIBLE (with enough tinkering), but such things require permission and a license to create from apple. That's something you can bet on never seeing.
Me...for one. I think it's pretty sweet.

I'm thinking FF7 myself...
You can skirt the issue all you want, but they WILL be used for those purposes... The educational fallout would probably be pretty dramatic.
