Apparently all the manufacturers of nuclear technologies and plans are non-thorium based - they have interest in their promoting their business. Thorium based reactors are definitely the future - India has been active in this area since a very very long time and has reportedly made quite a substantial inroads into its use and application. It is mainly motivated by the fact that it has to rely on the nuclear raw material from those few who would not sell it easily - a lot of diplomatic and political arm-twisting, conditions and business favors. The real reason US and other western nuclear powers want India to sign NTPT and CTBT by offering it nuclear fuel (for non-thorium based reactors) is also to make it agree to sign for access to its nuclear facility for overseeing its usage and security by the "watchdog" agencies and also to roll back and terminate its research reactors (which are instrumental in thorium research), and thereby either kill its research and/or gain access to it.

But then I guess he should have landed on the moon - judging by Bush's skill in generating quality hot air.

I agree, and I'm also very impressed with that. But the fact that they are working hard to get close to where we are now means they also identify their current situation as backwards in many ways.

So, what are you doing today? Working hard or taking it easy? If you really believe what you have said, your country should take wholesome retirement from the world, and disengage from all the worldy interactions. In its centuries long existance, it must have reached its final goal (whatever it was) by now. Why, whatever made us evolve into humans? "We" should have been quite happy as apes!

The fact is, such self glorifying view on how the world operates, specially when viewed through and magnified by the small spherical beads of perspration caused by the hard work involved in that process, doesn't validate your point of view. The situation is still better than what was prevaliling in US after 50 years of independence - fighting for slaves. India is doing much better - after being ruled and looted by Brits for centuries.

  25. Re:Another word : Ausbergers on Building Social Skills in Gifted Youths? · · Score: 4, Insightful

In this country it's almost a fashion to brand socially inepts as having Asperger's. With whatever limited resources public schools are lrft with, they send their special resource teachers and psychologists for a course somewhere, and they come back and start labelling everyone having slight solical ineptness as having Asperger's. After changing 4 schools in first three school years, in three different countris, my son ended up being labelled as Asperger beause the teacher's Hawaiian accents were kind of out-of-the-world for him. Anyway, what I am saying is that everyone have traits, and one desn't need to be labelled as having something or suffering from something in order to be qualified for assistance. And definitely not to be labelled by those half-baked pseudo psychologists from the school district, who will not get federal funding unless they had classfull of Asperger's. The best thing is to completely ignore the social ineptness of these kids and just throw them into the crowd where they will be exposed to "normals and regulars" and realize the importance of having good social skills. They might suffer a bit in the beginning, but will learn to adjust. Just make sure the "regaulrs" are not "hostiles" (oh, I just love the labels!)
