I would expect that DOOM 3 will be better optimized than Half Life two. OpenGL just has a better tinker factor, and Carmack and Co. excel at tinkering. HL2, on the other hand, will rely on whatever scaling DirectX can offer, such as lowering the shader specs. DirectX is getting tighter, but it still depends on the programmer to optimize it properly, and since the HL2 programmers have been having problems already...
Well, here in San Diego they are testing vehicles that, once on the freeway, use magnetic markers in the road in order to make commutes safer/faster. Still very experimental, but it is kinda exciting.
The course was laid out to the competitors jsut before the race began. There was no time for anyone to make a dry run. Although I don't think there was anything to stop them from picking any spot in the Mojave and playing around with the machines.
There were engineered obstacles, such as barbed wire and the like. And the deserts out here are not like the Sahara. They have washes and rock formations and various natural obstacles. Finally, a lot of the problems were mechanical or technical-brakes locking up and such. So it isn't as simple as it sounds.
No, you don't understand. The white lab mice are already performing experiments on us. In fact, the Earth was created at their behest. We merely form part of the matrix that is meant to determine the question to Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Back in 1997 Hewlett Packard actually sold units where the hard drive was nested right on top of the PSU. I'm still having nightmares involving hard drives on their death throes.
I live on the outskirts of San Diego county. Quite a few wealthy people come here to build large homes, well off the beaten track, but they don't want to pave the 5-10 miles of bad terrain to get to their house. So my little community has more H1s and H2s than any other place I've seen. The fact that San Diego is a military county only helps some more. To these people, a Humvee is well worth the cost when the roads are muddy/icy and some of the other SUVs would choke.
Thankfully, I live on an actual street and can drive something a little less outrageous.
It wasn't the branding. It was the fact that Nokia chose to combine bad marketing with a bad product. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if Tycho and Gabe had something to do with it, either. Gaming culture in general backlashed against the N-Gage and that turned it into a non-product. And who wants to hold something shaped like a taco to their ear, anyway?
As a matter of fact, some of the software for Virginia Tech's Beowulf was open-source. Yes, it is only a matter of time before Pixar moves to Xgrid. I expect someone to post an "SGI/Sun is dying" post any moment now. So I disagree with thee in advance.
So, we have Pixar, armed with Apple, gritting its teeth so it can finish its Disney obligations and start on its own stuff. They have two movies left to finish, so by the time any uniquely Pixar material makes it to the the big screen they may have made yet another switch in content creation hardware. But I expect the render farm will probably stay pretty static once they switch to XServes.
Well, you know, they do cost more. What you need to do is convince the board that they will save money in the long run. Or, like the above poster suggested, fire them come elections.
I really love Linux and all, but this changes nothing. I hate HP.
I'm sure there is a way to fake invoices or something...
Not only that, but your TV is interlaced, isn't it?
It also sucks in Mozilla FireFox/Firebird.

roughly 10^8 objects that no self-respecting astrologer would omit Now it will have to be 10^8 + 1, won't it?
Obviously related to the Bitchin-Fast 3D 2000. Quite a product. Capable of over 400 Bungholio Marks!

Of course. Ever watch the Animatrix?

AAAGH! (reaches for mental floss/mouthwash)
It would appear he would like to play some games on it.

Well, video actually. In WMV format. Here.
Enjoy.
Your're right, AOL is nothing a good nuke or two can't fix. Although that's really an Air Force or Navy thing.
How about "Nintendo: Peanut Butter Monkey" (just had to sneak a PA reference in).

I just tried to mapquest my address, but it seems to have a problem. Hopefully the switch to IPv6 will fix that.
"Dammit, when I went to school we had to use a slide rule!
Sorry, couldn't resist, you almost sound like my Dad there...

Government Official: "No, its this damn Halo demo...."
