You have to remember it has been out for a year in Japan, so the bugs you might encounter might be missed translations etc. which the US beta testers are hopefully looking for. I have been playing the the JP version for a couple of months now and haven't spotted major problems. There was an issue with a big event that they had where a few hundred people were fighting a special monster at the same time but that's not a usual part of the gameplay.
I do get some lag now and again, it's quite rare unless there are a lot of people in the immediate vicinity, but that could the PS2 graphics chip chugging away.
Now that games are selling more and becoming a common past-time, will it ever reach a stage where they will eventually become cheaper? Will we start seeing games available on average for $25 a piece or will a new model for distribution be required for costs for the end user to be reduced?
Wow, and I live in Japan too! What a coincidence! It's nice to see another gaijin posting on/. Nice to have met you.
I hope that apartment is not costing you too much. My apartment is only 38 sq m. Most of my Japanese friends who actually live away from home are in 1K apartments. They don't even have a living room.
If you look closely at the pictures you will see that the projected image isn't too far from the cockpit. Also, everything to the left and right of the cockpit look like they are against walls. How much would you like to bet that there is not much else in the room?
Yeah, I watched the Japanese TV show it was in. The cockpit featured in nearly every episode. I actually thought it was either an extremely expensive prop, one of those flight training simulators, or part of the real thing. Little did I know it was made by some dude in his backyard ^^;
Actually, this is Japan so it was probably takes up his whole living room...
So...will there be another worm to patch the Anti-worm so it doesn't clog the networks? And if that screws up, will there be an Anti-worm to patch the original Anti-worm that... oh never mind.
It's definitely more interesting on a populated server. I am living in Japan at the moment and playing the Japanese version now (with the expansion). It's been about month now. If you can find people to party with to do quests and missions together it is a lot more fun, apart from the fact that levelling is a lot faster!
In every area there's usually at least 15 people, and the more popular areas for questing/levelling can have more than a hundred.
Also I have been reading about a lot of complaints about the problems with "1337 dudez" running amok in the Beta, but I think you'll find less of them when the EN game officially comes out and you play on the Japanese servers with an already established in-game etiquette among the Japanese and Import players.
And the thought crossed my mind as I rode along - "Get health?" followed by the immediate "D'oh! - real life, move on" thought...
Heck what's worse is that after playing Gran Turismo 3 for four hours straight, I hopped into my car and when I hit a straight I slammed on the accelerator. I was speeding at about 85km/hr in a 50km/hr zone before I realized, whoops real life. Luckily it was 2am in the morning and noone was around ^^;
Driving so fast in real life actually felt normal after playing the game for so long.
Better yet, no more need for beer goggles. Just slap on a pair of "reading" glasses while having that drunken one night stand and you can lay any model you want!
What good are polyphonic ringtones, fancy colour screens, digital cameras, 3-d graphics and so on in my cellphone if I can't TALK on the damn thing half the time?
Well, I suppose when you can't get coverage, you at least have something to play with. Here in Tokyo lots of people play Tetris/Arkanoid/RPGs etc. on their cell phones in the subway where there is hardly any reception in the tunnels.
The stench and glare from the pale, bespectacled, unwashed slashdot masses is definetely something to fear!
Sure, I like running with my desktop strapped to my back and a really long extension cord.
The fact that they have to change their current habits?
I think they may be counting the Platform and the Java IDE as separate downloads.
Well, Mickey Mouse will be making an appearance in SquareEnix's Kingdom Hearts 2 RPG!
I'm here!

Well, I'm not sure about president, but for the California recall I would vote for Galactus (the onion)!
although I don't recall where or when.
So do you Anonymous Coward

Okay, now that is just plain wrong. How much are they? ^^

But then they would have used a comma: Oldest Planet Ever, Discovered.

My god
If you are talking about the sherlock channels to search for movie times etc. seems to work for me in Japan.

Bloody hell you guys get it cheap. In Tokyo it is about 1800 yen or US$15
