  1. Newsflash: Jefferson is Dead on Why Bill Gates Wants 3,000 New Patents · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Jefferson has been dead for 200 years. People may disagree with patent law, but there's not historical basis to assume Jefferson would have objected to this practice in the IT industry. Save the Ouije board for parties, and stop imposing your opinions on people who've been dead for a century or more.

  2. Wrong Question on If Microsoft Went Open Source · · Score: 1

Why invest all that in Windows? Because the majority uses Windows? That's great rational. Market share, bug fixes, and lots of money invested don't make an OS great.

  7. Politics and Dark Side on Britain's First Jedi Member of Parliament · · Score: 1

I always laugh when someone attacks the opposite side of the political aisle by calling them "Sith Lords" or "Darth Whatever." It has to be the most ineffective way to demonize an opponent, because Darth Vader is infinitely cooler than any light side Jedi. Admit it! Now! Feel your throat tightening yet?

  8. Steve Jobs on Intel Head Recommends Apple · · Score: 1

There were times when Jobs used PC machines, too. Shows these two guys don't buy into their own marketing just as IT people should not.

  12. Re:on the other hand... on How Google Could Overthrow AIM · · Score: 1

What I do like about Froogle is that their product listing is more inclusive than those of Price Grabber or Pricewatch. It does not matter for those of you (all of you?) just shopping for the lastest, greatest 64-bit, digitial video playing, wireless whatever, but look for a mountain bike or something else that requires you being outside and you'll be better off with Froogle, for example. The interface criticism is valid, though.

Some critics of Wrath of Khan object to the big, sweaping battleship-like movements of the Enterprise and Reliant as not reflecting "real spacetravel." Whether this is true or not, I think it makes for some great filmmaking. I, for one, still find that movie suspenseful after seeing it countless times. Those battles are awesome.

  21. 1 out of 7 Crybabies on The Unhappy World of IT Professionals · · Score: 1

I heard somewhere (maybe here) that most IT Professionals rate going without the Internet as worse than going through a divorce. Hearing that, I wouldn't trust any IT person's estimate of their own happiness. I hated IT, thought it sucked, quit, and got another job. Six months later, I was back. It can be pretty crappy, but I think people don't realize how good they have it. That said, it is a pretty catty profession.
