Seems like the search engine associates weird images with the search results. I tried googling for my full name, found my blog alright, but what the heck? I get an image with the text "My sucess with Scientology" together with the search result. I am not a scientologist, and haven't even mentioned the cult on the blog. Makes me distrust the search engine...
Yay!
I casually work for a really large engineering company that use a lot of VBA/Excel macros in the sales dept. I take care of these macros and write new ones when a new need arises. This "development" by MS will assure my future employment needs.:)
Not even support for the r100-based cards that can be found in, among others, the lovely Thinkpad T30:s. Why? Because ATI decided it was too old for it. The open source radeon driver does a great job, though, and I can use Compiz Fusion with no problems on this four-year-old laptop of mine. Four years! Too old for drivers, you say?
The maximum amount of points is twelve, not ten. Since Western and Northen European countries are generally larger than the Eastern European ones, we have fewer votes per capita here. That is why, in the recent years, so many Eastern countries have won even though the music they bring is the worst. Just look at the 2007 winner. The fact that the Finnish group Lordi won in 2006 contributes to the already obvious fact that the ESC is horribly broken. Many people here in Sweden do agree, however, that nothing was as fun as seeing these monsters win over all the over-hyped artists by achieving a record score.
But the companies make a lot of money from it, so I guess the ESC will never cease to exist.
> It's time for the US to rid themselves of that law.
I'd say it's time for the world to get rid of software patents.
And horrendous IP laws (DMCA etc.)!
And the Patriot Act and all European counterparts coming up soon
There's a lot of things going on that shouldn't. ...
Well, I have tried U3 and hated it, which is a shame on the otherwise very well crafted hardware. I got a 1gb SanDisk memory stick for my graduation, and it still is the best stick I have ever had (hardware-wise). The USB plug retracts nicely into the frame, making it smaller and more durable than most other sticks.
U3, though is (was) crap. Every time you inserted the stick into a Windows box things started to pop up on the screen, applications wanted to get installed etc. even if the device itself was empty. Every time I asked a colleague or friend to give me that 500Mb-file of his I gave him the stick, only discovering that he needed to fight dialog boxes first instead of getting down to business.
The only way to remove it was to run the U3 uninstaller which apparently only was released after a lot of pressure on SanDisk. The uninstaller removed all U3 garbage, the fact that the removal process is irreversible is nothing I care about.
I still recommend the SanDisk Cruzer Micro:s to my friends, but I always tell them to uninstall U3.
The MPD music player daemon can quite easily be integrated with icecast for streaming. You get GUI control (via a fashionable MPD client) and a good streaming server (icecast works perfectly for me). Problem is, only OGG is supported at the moment.
A howto about MPD/icecast installation can be found here.
With the continual complaints I see about people irritated by sites that use features only supported by IE, and that cause the page to render incorrectly in other browsers, why would developers using Firefox-only features be any different or better?
Well, the main reason for that to be not-as-serious as IE-only is that FF is open and you are therefore not locked into one vendor in the same way. Also, SVG is open, meaning that anyone can implement it. Saying "FF-only" is a bit wrong, since what it really means in this context is an SVG-capable browser.
The key point is not about choice between gnome/kde etc. It's about the strange feeling for a new user to click a foot to start programs, he or she doesn't care about the logotype of the DE, as long as it lets him/her do what he/she wants to do.
The Pirate Bay, a swedish tracker by the swedish organization Piratbyrån. Piratbyrån was founded shortly after the advent of a swedish equalivent to {RI|MP}AA. It works with spreadig the word of, as they call it, pirating. Be sure to check out their legal section, too!
Yeah, It's great. But for me there is another good reason. Since my new HTPC I've built, Dell Optiplex GX150, has only a power supply of 110W, an external PVR might be the only solution. I'm not sure, but I doubt that I'll be able to get a decent graphics card into that box.
Bloat is more than the size of the compressed installer. Memory usage and CPU usage compared to the useful functions is also important to look at. Oh, and the memory leak bugs in FF on win32 doesn't count as bloat.

I, for one, welcome this fork and hope that development will become better. Let the flamewars begin!

No, but NetBSD!
No, I don't want the next ubuntu release to be polish.
You really have a girlfriend?
...and I've just finished compiling it on my Gentoo box :(
Why do people so often think that quality and price goes hand and hand in the software market?
Wikipedia's article on Dantzig. Still a bit thin, but contributors are of course welcome to add up to it!

No, they've trained monkeys to do it, and they will also use them on space shuttles computerized by Windows boxes.

How about 22:22? Or 22:07, which, when divided, gives a number close to pi? BTW, I really like 03:14.

What happened to the old days in which people used paragraphs and line breaks?
Emacs or vim?
