I have a small but nice piece of GPL code out there that I do not want to get paid for, neither do I want it to be used by people that give their clients less freedom than I did when I decided to distribute it.
I mean, it's out there for anyone to use gratis, however it does not mean that I am allowing anybody to pimp it, that is why GPL2.
You see that more and more where MS has to compete with it's competitors it looks that all the free software available for Linux makes the difference.
There is a large difference between a low cost crippled windows version without any significant software package and a free fully complete OS with all the packages available for free...
Guess what most people are going to pick when they are informed correctly?
Dunno, but patents are not to defend companies but to offer a incentive to open up classified material for innovation of the rest of us.
Since nobody today uses patents what they are really for, you can conclude that it is misused by all concerned parties, companies use it as a stick towards other companies, but worse is that governments see it as a easy tax grab on tech without having to do anything for it.
The problem for Macromedia is that they have locked themself into a situation that change to their codebase will mean breaking their bundled software contract...
This tells me that for coming years the platform will step out of it's own evolution and wont improve anymore but will be patched to keep their bundled stuff from breaking.
Guess how Netscape came to it's end, and no it is too much honor for MS to think that they are fully responsible for that, Netscape just got stuck into it's own contracts, like Macromedia will...
When I am fulfilling my webmaster/programming activities I feel best in Linux as it is most seamingly with the environment that displays my work (internet). However when designing... must I really go on? Scribus is nice and also some signs of DTP related activity takes place in Linux, but one has to admid that this is still Mac land stuff if one really wants to be productive, so OSX it is...
BTW they both work great together as well... I deployed several Linux/OSX office networks...

Dunno about the specials...
And no, I am not fond of madness, but that is just personal preference, no value judgement.
There is music for everybody and all is valid if it moves people emotionally...
you got it wrong, it's the patents that are illegal... It is imposible to infringe something that isn't there... Form a legal standpoint these patents are not there (yet)...

I agree, that is our largest problem when that is invented.
As user you cannot violate the GPL dumbo, go read the licence now...
Because a MS lover modded you down...
Don't worry, there are more mods...

Not that I noticed any of that, prob DEA info...
Who cares...
I can only agree... :-)
You probably just had a civil-servant as mod...
Nah, they just die out like should in evolution...
A lot of people get it because of their lifestyle, not because of functionality...
We have a word for that, it's called "Era" not "Year of".
