Maybe, but I really tend to think it's GoW, CoD3, and Rainbox Six Vegas. I know more than one person who has purchased a 360 just to play gears of war. Very fun game.
So let me get this straight: If someone produces some sort of product and puts a bunch of limitations on how I can or cannot use said product that instead of disregarding those limitations and doing what I want that I should actually either respect those limitations or do without the product altogether? And are you also saying that if I do decide to disregard those limitations placed on the product that a reasonable avenue of recourse for the producer of that product is to bring suit against me?
But on the other hand the free market has ALSO said they want badly the product apple is selling and are willing to put up with a lot of nonsense to get it. If "people" really wanted to send a clear message to the record companies about DRM they would simply not purchase or deal with DRM'd material.
Developer: "Cool, where do I get the compiler for VB or this.NET stuff?"
Microsoft: "Well, you can make ASPs for free and stuff and almost everyone has IIS anyways... but to make applications that do anything at all you need our libraries. You need to buy Visual Studio and we're afraid it's a bit pricey..."
Cute, but not true. There are no magic extra libraries which force you to use Visual Studio. All of the libraries are installed with the framework. The command line compilers are installed with the framework. All of the documentation for the tools and libraries is availible online.
Or (if allowed in his jurisdiction) his wife could have went with a property bond. This usually places a lien against the property and raises the possibility of forclosure should the defendant skip bail. BUT, if the defendant does show you're not out of pocket any actual monies.
Really? The criminal records of minors are supposed to be sealed. I know that when I joined the military at age 19 they didn't find squat. And there was something to find.
Because civil rights things like this get people more worked up and generate a helluva lot more page hits then "news for nerds". BUT, it also falls into the "stuff that matters" category. (just to show that I am not completely cynical, although it's hard not to be around here.
So in the UK they put kids into the same holding areas as adults and can gather DNA from them without some sort of court order or parental consent? And the criminal records of children can actually be queried by schools?
Not flamebait, not an attack on the UK, but serious questions.
Hrm. How about if they just told kids what the byproducts of meth production looked like and asked them to keep their eyes open whilst biking around the neighboorhood and to call the police if the happened to see them? Would something like that be considered facist and/or some slippery slope that gets kids down the path of turning in anyone for anything the state deems illegal?
The your/you're thing is a pet peeve of mine. The extra vitrol was just revenge for the poster subjecting me to yet another "OMPG CLIPPLY LOLLZORS M$ SUCKS" post.
You do realize that the people who work there are just that... people. They are going to use whatever they think is the best tool for them, within reasonable limits. Since Apple makes the best mp3 player that's what the employees are going to spend the money on. Ballmer can throw as many chairs as he wants and that's not going to change. If the PS3 has the goods they'll have that. As long as Google is a better search engine it'll be used.
But really, lets not kid ourselves about OO.
You know that Microsoft does usability tests, right? They don't just randomly place things (well, they did in Office for a long time, which is why they're fixing that now), and they don't just rip-off other programs like open source projects to. You can bet your ass that if Microsoft is making a change for usability reasons, they have documented, repeatable, scientific evidence that the new version is better.
They have a guy over there who blogs the hell out of the whole office usability thing. Very interesting stuff.
Similarly if the system detects queues growing beyond a pre-defined length in the security zone staff will be alerted of the need to open another lane.
Can't the actual human employees at the head of the line make this determination and alert whomever has the authority to open another lane? Seems like a solution looking for a problem if you ask me.
Employees began asking our agents to leave the store if they weren't shopping. Most stuck to their "I'm waiting for my girlfriend" story and refused to leave.
But it is valid to use it to report criminal trespass. If they were asked to leave and did not it was perfectly for them to call the police.
And really, the whole point of the exercise (and what made it funny) was to cause confusion and panic on the part of the employees. They suceeded in doing this so why get indignant upon hearing that these confused and/or panicked people called the police with a legitimate complaint?

RTM is already downloadable from microsoft and the SHA-1 hash is right on the download page.
Hey, can we wait until the comments before the anti-MS vitrol and fud? Does it have to start right in the article itself? Sheesh.
I just tried it. Works fine.
On a runon sentence of that magnitude? I wouldn't even have known where to begin :P

It's not like they are stealing or anything. And really, if people want to do this sort of thing no one is hurt here.

SO, how did your reply to me make YOU feel?
Even a dumb ass like clippy knows the difference between "your" and "you're".

Joel does bug tracking. It is interesting to note that Eric's product did integrate with Joel's, though.
They've analyzed thousands of datapoints collected from the Office Experience program
Billions, actually. Agree about how interesting it is, though.

No, you RTFA. It says that when employees asked them to leave they refused and said they were waiting on someone.
They refused when asked until the police came.

The 911 number is not for enforcing store policy.

Nintendo is going to do it too, sorry. You're going to pay full retail for excitebike and you're going to like it, mister.
