And then the government is accused of prying into someone's private life. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Doesn't matter if they have sufficient cause or not.
Or you could be a decent human being and pay it forward by giving away the non-standard screwdriver to someone else. Sure they don't have the screws, but it can't be that hard to get the replacements.
It seems there are a lot of things that were originally (or amended to include) aren't reflected in current law. Libel being an obvious example. If the 1st amendment were strictly adhered to, you couldn't sue someone for libel.
I thought they originally went with uranium, because you could build nuclear weapons from the waste. You can't do that with Thorium. So not greedy business interests, but more like the governments in a nuclear arms race. Much as I like to blame greedy businesses for the world's problems, I don't think this is one of those times.
Hey - I'm not saying that disabling phones in cars is a good idea. It won't do what it's supposed to do which is lower the number of deaths on the roads.
But car accidents often don't involve just one car. They often involve two cars, so if someone crashes into my car that's not my responsibility, but I am the one who is affected by someone else's responsibility (or lack thereof). I would like to have as much protection in my car as I can. Historically the introduction of safety features has been as a result of regulations, not because the manufacturers thought it was a good idea.
He might have survived - but you don't know if his friend, or sibling, or parent died because of dick move.
And here's my point. Road safety is an issue. Yes people die everyday - but without proper regulation forcing companies to improve their safety record, they will NEVER change, they will NEVER try to improve their safety record because you know - people die every single day.
Stop being an unbearable cunt to people who actually want to retire some day.
When I went to university, my Student Union did a very good job of explaining this process to us. Their advice was to tell any copper who asked you come to the station to very very politely decline, unless they were placing me under arrest. Once under arrest, refuse to speak to any copper except to confirm your personal details and to call your lawyer. The student union had pet lawyers you could call on and the coppers knew it, being a university town.
He's a Democrat - of course the Republicans despise him.
So what's your explanation for the falling numbers of people who are willing to pay for the "theater experience"?
Not to mention the "turbines are ugly" crowd. Yeah - well so are coal power and nuclear power. Suck it up - or live in the stone age MOFO!
As opposed to DON'T PANIC
I was wondering the same thing. Doesn't this invalidate their common carrier status?

Any more than the Republican party today is the party of Lincoln etc.
You think the Republicans are trying to protect your civil rights? How cute. You clearly aren't, black, gay, or female.

+1 Funny - I so hope he does.
Unfortunately, I suspect the media company's immediate response would be to file a motion to have the judge removed because of obvious bias.
Does Slashdot have a system for removing hate speech?
Does it have a system for reporting hate speech?
Does it have a reputation for removing hate speech?
FB has all three. If FB had no such system it could have easily claimed common carrier status, but it regularly does.
"I thought they originally went with uranium, because you could build nuclear weapons from the waste."
Oh dear, The Lie That Will Not Die.
I stand corrected then.
God is pissed and she wants us to quit messing up our planet.
+1 Funny
Also you have such a high percentage of religious people compared to other first world nations. The two are linked.

Out of interest - anyone know why we've not re-visited thorium?
It's not like we need to recreate more nuclear weapons, which as I understand it was the original reason for choosing uranium in the first place.

Old opinions - no
Photos - much more likely

This is BT. They don't need an excuse.
And yet it has been demonstrated that badger culls don't stop the spread of TB into cattle. If anything, they make it worse.
And/or potentially find more child porn 'aficionados'.
Nor does the phone company have a system for moderating comments made after the fact
