    And exactly WHICH of these primes is not know to the public? Perhap, and JUST perhaps, the NSA has been hording big primes, but I seriously don't think Diebold has access to them. If its prime factors that prevent you from cracking the system, you have bigger problems than knowing how to do DES.

    Relying on secret design to ensure security is what is known as security through obscurity and is generally frowned upon... SNIP ... BLAW, BLAW, BLAW, YADA, YADA, YADA... SNORT.

    Tell me more about this "security through obscurity" thing? Is it like the ID card I carry in my pocket that has a (gasp) picture of me on it? Is it related to the little microchip in that ID card that most defiantly does not adhere to "open standards"? Is this is ANY WAY related to my ROOT LOGIN that is over 6 characters and combines special char with numbers and letters and not in the dictionary? Is this "security through obscurity" anything like that? Does this concept relate in ANY WAY to my front door key that looks like everyone else's but is just a little bit different? Please educate me.

    GOD how I hate BUZZ WORDS and PHRASES like "security through obscurity", and the stupid people that use them.

    It's also interesting to point out that the number of people employed in the civilian labor force has actually gone up by 2,300,000 since Bush took office (138,301,000 now compared to 135,999,000 in Dec 2001), contradicting John Kerry's claim that 3,000,000 jobs have been lost since Bush took office.

    And John Kerry is going to raise taxes by 900 BILLION! Tell me another story.

    5.6% unemployment: Low for Clinton, High for Bush.

    The problem with unemployment stats is that they only tell the story of how many people applied and how many are still on unemployment rolls. The do not reflect those who have run out of unemployment, or took shit jobs asking if you want fries with that. The fact is, good jobs that pay a living wage are growing more and more scarce. Except, of course, unless you happen to be a CEO, in which case you are making more than ever!

    Yes. Especially if it has to do with a muti-million dollar roll-out of new technology. Don't kid yourself, Linux in the Enterprise does cost money. You think Red Hat, Novell, and IBM give it away? And what about the equipment? So, YES, Open Source issues ARE discussed in the board room.

    And does SCO really care what EV1 says? SCO fucked 'em up the ass, got their jollies, left a present on the night stand, and has moved on to other FUD. As far as SCO is concerned, EV1 served their purpose, no suprise, EV1 feels dirty! And, I don't think SCO has ever actually planned to make money on the license business. Lastly, note that SCO stock is up today.

    I agree, but I don't think we'll be running spreadsheets or Quicken on the PS5 or XBox XX in the future.

    Maybe not with the PS2, but Microsoft tends to like to evolve it's hardware / software into the toy that does everything. For example, once they evolve xBox into the complete home entertainment center, it's a Microsoft Mindset Logical Next Step to allow "the housewife" to do houshold finances and shopping lists, email, blaw blaw blaw...

    Already, there is word that PC game development is withering, even though as a preferential PC gamer I see the best games ever. Is the console destined for superiority

    This is kind of a cycle that most of you kiddies are not old enough to remember. The truth is, consumer computing (that's the PC, people.) started out as game consoles that slowly mutated into multi-purpose computers. It's going to happen all over again. Game consoles will slowly become more powerful with more features, until they actually become multi-purpose computers that also play games.
