We are surrounded and inhabited by living beings. It is good for you...
This is true. I lived in Asia for a few years, ate some of the most discusting things on the planet out of street stalls (usually I was really drunk), now, nothing bothers my iron gut, as I have quite the worldly bacteria living in there, takes care of just about everything.
Spent 13 million on this "challenge"? To do what? I thought the "chalengers" where footing their own bill, and just how does laying out a course in the desert cost 13 mill? Typical US Gov project. And besides that, all you GNU/Lefties understand who DARPA is, right? I better not hear one peep about the Evil American War Machine outa you guys.
I think the DARPA team did this, it's the Hummer thingy. And I said this in the DARPA thread, the DARPA "contest" is a sham, there is only one vehicle that can win, and it seems to be funded by guess what? Defese contractors. Suprise.
Design an Open Source office.... It would look a lot like MS Office.. You know, Open Source geeks like to diss MS Office. But ask your self, why is it so popular? Not because MS has a monopoly, it's because it is very good and very useful. MS Office is a very tight and nice application. Why do you think Open Office trys to mirror it?
I'm sorry, it's really not that complicated. The Record Industry produces music. They sell it to you with certain restrictions. This is their right. You are not obligated to buy and agree to the restrictions. That's it! That's all there is to it.
Basically, this isn't a real DARPA eval. It's for the cameras. First of all, the Hummer already won, go to their web site and look at who is supporting it with technology and money: Big biz military contractors. Second, DARPA does not play this way for real, this is just one big press reliese. Maybe they want to recruit new grads or something, but it sure ain't about drones.
I always suspected it would come to this: For the longest time, P2P file thieves would try and tell people that it was "fair use" to distribute copyrighted music to thousands of people that have never owned the CD nor even intend on buying the CD. For the longest time these societal leaches would pump this lame argument about how passing around copyrighted works was just some form of "fair use" back-ups and that they had "paid" for it so they could do whatever they wanted with their property, and besides it's not piracy, blaw, blaw, blaw...
But now the cat's out of the bag and, well, maybe it is piracy. But piracy is now good! After all, it helped build Hollywood!
It's just amazing the twists and turns of logic that P2P file thieves will use to justify their theft. In truth, they are people who do not respect property ownership at all, yet would probably scream if someone stole some of their own property. These same people want to be paid for their work, but refuse to understand that other people like to be paid also. Just amazing.
Well, if a Microsoft representative called Baystar from his private phone during a holiday, then it was technically not Microsoft who orchestated this.
Nonsense. If a Microsoft representative calls up SCO on Christmas eve from pup someplace in Christchurch while wearing a pink tutu, and that person has their cell phone signal bounced off of the solar reflectors on the Mars rover, relayed through several satellites and sketchy third world telephone exchanges, bounced through sever P2P nodes and then piped into the PBX of the Mormon church, if that person is representing the interest of Microsoft at the request of superiors, then yes, technically Microsoft "orchestrated this."
Actually, the second item, Microsoft has no direct or indirect financial relationship with BayStar, is probibly technically true. At this point.
If I "suggest" to someone that they invest in something that I have no finantial interest in (SCO), that "suggestion" does not create a finantial interest. At this time.
I speculate that M$ "suggested" to BayStar that sometime in the future, perhaps, maybe, the software giant might possibly make some kind of investment in BayStar, of course totally unrelated to any investments BayStar might have made in SCO, hint-hint-wink-wink...
What's funny is that a few months ago when all us paranoid tin-foil hat folks where saying M$ had their fingers all over this, people said "go back in your basement, way too much illuminati, blaw, blaw, blaw..."
I have no sympathy for Real just because they are suing the Evil Microsoft. Real is a sad excuse for a company with a shitty product that needs to just go away. And, MLB can broadcast their games in whatever format they choose.
A lot of people have this idea that most porn is run on flaky servers in big server farms by shadowy sleaze bags. Form my experience working for Internet Entertainment Group, only one of those things (run by sleaze bags) was true. We ran IEG out of half a floor in a glass tower next to Pike Place Market in Seattle. We had 2 OC-3 lines and a few T-1s running from our studios in Capital Hill, 9 SGI servers running IRIX, and a RAID with terabytes before people tossed that term around much. Totally "state of the art". The boss, Seth, however, was a sleaze of the first level, and now resides in Thailand (for some reason, he fears coming back here, pissed off a few people).

I don't steal other people's copyrighted material, so this isn't an issue to me. non-compliance to standards,
Seems to comply with plenty of stuff out there I want to view...and who-knows-what in the future too?
WMP has only gotten better. If their past track record is an indecation of the future, I'm OK with it...
Oh, now this is actually funny! LaTeX! Get it?
Well, I guess at least you can have sex with your secretary on your desk, and it's not going to be a problem...

Red Green already did this with a K-Car. And a few rolls of duct tape.

Too bad you are an ASSHOLE...

Look. My acustic coupler works just fine, as well as the day I stole it from the computer center at school. Why should I upgrade? Life is good.

All verbatum story posts should be modded down for "redundent". It's all just Karma Whoring.
Oh come on. IT'S FUNNY!
Jesus. Not just a name dropper (news.admin.net-abuse.email and some IRC channesl) but one with no life as well.
Bullshit. The owner of any particular work can put whatever restrictions they with on it's use.

Unfortunatly the "Script Kiddy" was on the payroll (Ethan Sherman).

Actually this is just as funny as the jokes about cities in Alabama... Why the "troll" mod?
Yes, and $45 is about the most I would pay for it...
