That quiet zone better be surrounded by soundproofing, because any baby out there can be loud enough for an entire plane to hear. Being in another section of the plane is not going to help when something is that loud.
Note that this applies to people who are too damn loud when talking on their cell phones as well.
If anything, they've been doing LESS with sex education for years now.
More and more, abstinence is being taught as the only form of sex education. Researchers who tried to prove abstinence-only education was superior reported that it is actually worse in all forms than more informative education. The education becomes more and more sparse as you move out from major cities and into smaller communities.
A lot of this can be put on the morals movement we've been seeing for the last decade or so since a certain leader got some action in his office. They like to believe that lack of information being given to teenagers = lack of willingness by those teens to feel like sex is something they should do. They say that having a condom in hand will encourage them to have sex.
You are right, responsibility is the issue and teens need to understand it. But then again, so do the people that are on the moral crusade to eliminate all forms of discussion about sex. They need to understand that responsibility is about having the knowledge to make the right decision.
Seriously, jack them up.
That way, when less CDs fly off the shelves, they'll start making some good decisions on how to run the industry and actually attract customers. Throwing us tons of garbage every week for a "good price" doesn't mean they are doing us any favors.
Considering Sony has said they will release in 06 and do not feel threatened by MS releasing this year, my guess is the PS3 will not be moved up. But I suppose E3 will clarify for us.
Yeah, apparently the author hasn't kept up with the graphics card industry. I would say perhaps he is only considering graphics cards that are realistically retail, but this one isn't on the market yet so I hardly feel that's applicable.
Mobo manufacturers still need to up the PCI-E bus bandwidth before we can daisy chain though. Right now there just isn't enough space for two cards, let alone two cards and other addons.
While in most cases you'd be right on how much money they get, Lucas forces a different deal. I remember that back during The Phantom Menace (when I worked at a movie theatre), he got pretty much near 100% of profit for the first 3 weeks and a major share of it for the 5 weeks following that. The bastard cleans up no matter what.
You sound like you went to school where the department was run by crappy CS profs. I got my undergraduate degree at a liberal arts college and 99% of my Computer Science experience there was gained while using Linux (and even a bit of Solaris my first year) systems. We all knew BSDs, open source alternative software, and more. Many of us used it daily; some developed and tested for the open source community. Windows was pretty much shunned by all but one prof. Even the necessary evil of connecting to the IT Windows systems was considered highly undesireable.
In reference to the topic at hand, I have to say this University is taking the wrong course of action. My school took the "lock the port" approach. Quite simply, if they could tell your computer was infected and you weren't doing jack to fix it, you lost your internet. Didn't like it? Well fix it. Otherwise you're gonna be going to another dorm room to try to hook up (and remember, your roommate isn't gonna like you either, cause you cost both of you an internet connection).
PS to grandparent of this message - The author states he/she is a CS student; the author never states the CS department is the head of this action (I'm strongly willing to believe it is not).
Greg acted like no games were made for DS functionality...yet he seemed to forget the Metroid game.
I'd have to say that being able to use a stylus to shoot at enemies on the new system would be making use of this new, interesting feature (not just using it to justify having it).
Having not had the opportunity to read British gaming mags, I cannot speak from personal knowledge of how good they are. Assuming your claim is true, though, the idea seems much more realistic.
Some magazines will continue to exist for the few who somehow wish to have the few, magazine-exclusive new updates about games.
The rest of us have moved on though. With the amount of information you can have at your finger tips immediately with online sites, I have no reason to go back to print media. Call of Duty's 1.3 patch came out yesterday; personally, I'd rather know that yesterday (due to the net) rather than on a cd in a couple of weeks with a gaming mag subscription. World of Warcraft has interesting updates all of the time that I'd have to wait to read about too.
I'm not sure I buy this quality of writing argument though. Gamespot's writers (and the Gamespot Live folks) often make their stories/videos more entertaining than the main mags in circulation at the bookstores.
I'd be bold and say printed mags will disappear, but I know that's not true. Despite massive amounts of annoying ads (another thing I can avoid with an internet subscription), some people still like to have a physical copy. They will continue to support a market, although the market will dwindle some over time.
Um, the size and noise of it is no problem for me. Furthermore, I store cds on my hard drive for in game play. Will a memory key be able to handle this decent?
Most importantly, lack of a hard drive will pretty much guarantee no backwards compatibility. That is yet another selling point I want to see in future consoles.
I hate memory cards (always have); gimme a hard drive anyday.

You do realize Blizzard gave over the majority of control in making this game to a studio, right?

If you buy more months of play at a time, it costs less per month.
;).
It is still a lot though. But I'll surely pay up without too much complaint

Anyone think it could be CS: Source? Convenient timing ya know...

It was known that Bombadil and the Scouring were never filmed. Sorry to see you didn't know that :(.
I read elsewhere that the presentation said the date was 200X.

MS should pay $1 billion for preventing this guy from distributed this, eh? So...
/. members ever made...the site is already slashdotted!
:P
That'd be the easiest money
I still wish I could play Oregon Trail every once in a while...
No violence means AOM and AOE are "right out"

I have a bunch of CDs on my drive, so I'm fairly certain I use a large amount of my drive.
Yes, I own the original Xbox...hence why I wouldn't purchase a new one without it. I use it a lot and would hate to not have its functionality.
Although this isn't confirmed information (lack of HDD), I can say that I'm 99.9% sure I wouldn't buy Xbox 2 if it lacked a HDD.
The HDD don't get used much? So where do you think all that cached information from the game is going?
I'm assuming that too...I never saw anyone last that long without getting beat and going to the back of the queue for a little while.
Then again, I never saw anyone spend that much time on MK when Street Fighter 2 was around and much better.
