Geez. No offense to any of you, but wasn't it just up until last year when Apple products were only used by designers and retards? Hell, you can't even go for a beer with any OBSD boys without a few Macs pop out of their case onto the table.
I know this is just a rant, but someone's got to comment on Ms. Feiss.... I'll leave that for you./rant
Oh my. You just released a repressed memory from last week. Somewhat offtopic, but screw it.
*Someone* sent me an email asking why their password wasn't working. What was it? Q-W-E-R-T-I
I thought they had to be kidding. "You mean to tell me that after pressing 5 keys in a fscking row you didn't think about pressing the next one?" I had to cry. How long can someone stare at a keyboard for and not even notice when a mysterious voice tells them to use qwerty?
On second thought, they may be like my dad:
me: "Type 'cat'. c-a-t" him: "uhh.... A.. hrmm... B uhhh.. C! *click*C*click* me: ! him: "uhh.... A! *click*A*click* me: ! him: "uhh.... A.. hrmm... B uhhh.. C uhh.... D.. hrmm... E uhhh.. F............ me: ZZzzzzz...
Poor soul. I hear he's gotten better. Instead of spending 45 seconds trying to go through the alphabet and locate the first character of 'ZOO', he found a shortcut - He cheats. he now notices 'z' next to the 'a' and saves a sh*tload of time. Now THAT'S what I call productivity.
You must have forgotten that these are Mac users. Remeber? These types drive Minis and New Beatles. I'll bet you that no matter what type of car it was, its colour was Aqua. (maybe teal);)
That's nothing. Wait until EVERYONE has this service. Instead of saying "Ericsson and AT&T Wireless today completed the first WCDMA/UMTS call in a live network environment in the Americas. With initial packet data speeds up to 384 kbps...", we'll actually be proud of even getting a call through! Forget the speed.
Hushmail was the first and obvious choice when I read the headline, but you mentioned that it doesn't work well under linux??? What's up with that? I believe it uses java. (to lazy to check) Do you not know how to install the java plugin under mozilla/netscape/konqueror?
I won Rackspace's 'ThinkGeek' Contest last year and won something like $300 in certificates. (I can't remember exactly $200-$500. I'm too tired to do the math)
Anyways, it bought be about 18 t-shirts and I only wear two of them. The rest are in my closet.
Yes-I know I'm a geek. No-I'm not telling you which ones I wear.;)
But would you waste your time and do that at home with 5 2Gb drives when you can buy 3 40Gb ones and call it a day? I must have been busy that week, so I just forked out the cash.
Why would I spend time making a small redundant storage repository which I know parts of will fail, when I can drop $50 on a single new drive whose size is greater than all the old ones combined? I think it's worth it. For my configuration, I have started to download (and eventually burn) a lot of movies, so I find the extra Gigs extremely usefull. btw, it's also an all-ide setup. I'm not up for fooling around with raid at home. Cheap and Easy is my motto for home. Expensive and Sophisticated is what I tell/sell my clients, so THAT's where I want to be spending my time.
Seeing as it was made by Alcatel Space and Alcatel just axed another 10,000 jobs yesterday (or the day before?) Do you think it was a sign? I'm just a conspiracy nut.
(ddaadaataaday! wee! look at me, I'm waiting for my 2-minute-filter to wear! ladeedaa)
I was in pretty much the same boat as you, but I picked up a couple new 60Gb-ers. I thought about combining them using MS's DFS, but then the drives started failing on me one-by-one.
I recommend you do the same. I mean ask yourself: Do I really want to trust my porn collection to a 6-year-old 2Gb drive? NO!!
Would it not have been better to build something up, not out? With all the work that was put into this, IMHO, I would think that if it was for water, it would be better to use your time to start stacking rocks up, even if it's into one large pile (per site). This way if you're stumbling across the desert you would be able to see the marker from a farther distance.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned (probably not as old as YOU, but I grew up reading conspiracy and UFO files on bbs') but I still like the idea of the images being signs to aliens....Really. I mean, check out 'The Owl Man'. Does that not look like our friend Mr Aldrin? (hehe. Buzz=funny name. Like my friend 'Shitter'. I'll never figure that one out.)
In any case, I'll stick with my alien conspiracy.
On a side note, isn't Atlantis recently being 'proven' to be located in South America too?...And the plot thickens. (Don't get me started on 'the money changers' hehe)
I know I'm not a big fan of engrish, but this is just scary. Would you give these guys $30 000?:
22-Mar-02 Can you see someone controls GEN H-4?? Of cource, it is a radio controlled model. As you know, we can't several tests of GEN H-4 by manned in Japan. Because of Japanese reguration isn't suitable to develop new airplane. Therefore we developed the radio controlled model. The porpose pf this model is not only tests but also an aerial film and such.
"As you know, we can't several tests of GEN H-4 by manned in Japan." WHOAH!!!! Slow down there big boy.
How come I see myself returning to this article some day in the near future and scoffing at the "3.06GHz" label?
Does this remind anyone of the Popular Science articles where Planes may someday make transatlantic flights and In the 70's, automobiles will be obsolete, as personal gyrocopters will likely be the main method of transportaion.
Hell, I propose that in 2008, my shoelace-tying machine will be run off of a 3Ghz processor.
I'm not trying to bring down this article, as much as I'm bringing to light the humour behind the title.
Geez. I hope my dog doesn't piss on my shoe-tying machine.

I live in Whistler, BC, Canada (Home of the namesakes Whistler/Blackcomb/Longhorn) and it gets DAMN cold, but my heater in my room is constantly off and my equipment heats it to above room temperature throughout the year. In the summer I even have to keep my window cranked open (2 1/2' x 3') I think I'm turning deaf because of the noise, but I only seem to use my hearing for answering phones, and I don't even like doing that.

Someone explain this to me. I haven't used pgp in years and even then, it was just me and 3 buddies.
Is the use of keys so widespread that people need to meet to identify themselves? If 300 people 'know' each other on-line, then why the hell do they need to meet to exchange keys? You'd think you could trust that anonymous person you've been chatting to for 3 years.
Again, I may have blown this out of perspective, but what the hell if this talking about?
The problem is, other isps in our area have a limit of 2, 5, and 20 Megs. I too personally hate receiving anything over 1Mb, yet some of our dialup customers consistantly receive files 3-5Mbs and it takes some time for them to receive them. I am a purist, so whenever I get a call regarding email, my first response is to tell the customer to go into their Webmail which we offer as a supplement to pop & imap and DELETE the offending message. We also have a 20Mb limit on the server per account. ARGHH!! just mod me as underrated because this topic causes me grief. Why don't people just use FTP? It STANDS for file transfer protocol! Dear Anonymous Coward,
At least he had the balls to post using his account.

I second that thought. This is OLD news.
I'm too lazy to find some links, but I bet popsci will have it.

" THis completely blows my theory that it was Sasquatch who killed kennedy."
That's why the CIA put the Wallace family up to this. Too many people were getting close to the truth.

I allways thought that quote was:
"You may choose any colour you wish. As long as it's black."
I can't tell you how many people I come across that say things like:
"I'll help you install any Operating System you wish."
The catch-all? It must either be 95, 98, me, 2000 or XP. What a choice.
True! Very True!
