That was the stupidest thing i've read. I wouldn't normally just leave it at that, but fuck, just read the article yourself and see.
THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME/. !!@#@!$%!!
Any Java is good Java, as long as there is a.NET threat.
The increase in java adoption will greatly benefit Sun no matter what, as long as there's developers. They would have a larger market for their Java Application servers and all their other Sun Java jazz they sell.
This could seriously hurt cell phone service providers. With the growing popularity and widespread adoption of wi-fi everywhere, I wouldn't see a need to even have a provider. This is of course the phone is able to seamlessly jump from one wifi network to another - but then comes into consideration of reliable signals yadda yadda... It was only time for this to happen.
It obviously us working. If anything eBay seems to be growing in popularity. People who don't regularly purchase things online use eBay surprisingly. I wouldn't say its hard, but its unusual to not know at least 1 person that doesn't use eBay.
I use to work for a company that supported a Media Metrix. They are a complete load of shit - spyware. They are far from a research company; and how fitting its also a NYT article.

I don't know why companies bother with voice technology.. it will never take off! NEVER... its failed plenty of times.. look at IBM's ViaVoice.. that shits been out since OS/2 days and it still sucks! Now Mac is working with voice commands.. like honestly now... do they actually think they can make this technology 'work'.
This won't be adopted by the mainstream, not until it can parse anyones voice, and even then i doubt it.

OK... so Cringely brings the point of how apparent this crime is, how easy it is, and how the government will do nothing about it - and if they do it won't work. Well how about writing how he thinks it should be solved!! You just can't rant about how something sucks and how the government will do shit all to fix it, and not post HOW you think this issue should be handled. Before that mongrel starts bashing anything I would like to see how he would deal with the current situation.
I don't care who's see's my hotmail emails, or hell any of my god damn emails. I think security articles have to take in consideration a % of people who jus dont give a shit if someone is reading their emails. Its all pr0n anyways!?@?!
I don't know about anyone else out there, but I wouldn't exactly feel comfortable running a Mandrake cluster... Mandrake has some serious bloat... and well, its mandrake;)
