I think a big part of it has to do with a change in general "geek" climate. You see back in da' day...computer techs were more rare and tended to have more of a God complex even if they knew very little.
Now the tech market is more saturated and your value and worth is more geared on how good you REALLY are and how well you interact with the client--and how well they like you. The importance of "marketabiliy" is much higher than it used to be say in the mid 90's or earlier.
As an example, I do not even remotely personally identify with the "Computer Guy" SNL skits. My users ask for me by name and I'm humble in my treatment with them. This has been a more encouraged attitude now since the market is so saturated with techs in general now.
It's a shame you don't know what you're talking about. The Linux kernal is no more related to UNIX now than MAC OS X or BeOS. Totally different security issues.
I agree they are most likely almost all Windows OS. However, that statistic really means nothing since that is a percentage of zombie PC's--this does not mean there are proportionately more affected Windows PC's than other OSes. Now get me the percentage/number of OS's that are zombies compared to the total percentage/number of those OSes in production around the world in general!...then you'll have something.
GOD I am SO tired of this elitest crap on/. Personlly, I'm a Windows fan and I cannot WAIT until Linux really starts taking off so it would have just as many vulnerabilities and problems exposed. And I know they're there because of the inherent reliance on the single kernel just like Windows and the too-many-hands-in-the-pot factor.
And also, they are the best because they "STAY" the best. They are constantly updating their algorythms and you see al these extra services they are always coming out with. That is not just because they're nice. They are trying very hard to keep on top of Yahoo and other search services and solutions and the second they slack off they will be outdone.
No no...not even remotely a monopoly! They are on top right now but they work and fight hard to remain there. That is best for everyone and the epitome of capitalism!
I'm sorry, have you been there? Or are you just parroting what you read on some sites that tried to make people feel better? It's not rumors, man.
By the way, it's friggen/. I don't need facts. All opinions welcome, just not accepted.;) Just like baby != fetus That is an opinion and cannot be proved scientifically one way or other, otherwise there'd be no debate over abortion.
It's my opinion folks!! I know all about the rumor/hoax sites, however, whatever you think a fetus is, the Chinese (Taiwanese and a few others) DO consume fetuses in certain areas. Now granted it's not the majority so one could also say some strange stuff about Americans, BUT they do it within their law and the government is representative of a people. Go over there... go to the local "gourmet" cafés...then tell me all about the rumor/hoax sites. "Baby" or not, it's still nasty, and it does happen over there more frequently than you'd ever want to know.
Nah they just own the patent. Doesn't mean they won't sell the use of it to everyone and their brother. I can see in the future it being required.
It will most likely come about from government intervention propted by some law suite. Think about some of the stuff we have now that you never would have thought before. Telemarketers are now REQUIRED to show their name and number on caller ID.
As for the baby comment... sorry... I believe you'd call them fetuses.
As for the spam...dude, you SERIOUSLY need to do some homework...shoot just do a friggen search about spam on goole or something. It's common knowledge (except you you I guess) that most originate from Asia (and most virii from Germany). Welcome to last year.
Again... at least I have the balls to post with my own ID.
Secondly, you just provided nothing but pure opinion and flamebait--zero contribution to the topic. So I would sugguest that what you just posted is not only a waste of space but worse than that which you are accusing me.
I wasn't saying that's the end all answer... I was just giving some sites concerning my comment. I still don't know much about anything, nor do I claim to. I just throw some stuff out there and we'll hash it out.
I sure appreciate those of you who have simply posted some good factual info for the conversation or refuted comments with facts or at least sound reasoning instead of attacking ones personal character.
You can tell a lot about a person by how they conduct themselve on the un-regulated Internet.;)
I hate to say it but it's pretty sad when a single enterprise outdoes our goverment in some charity support. And yes they do other donations too, so it's not like they're concentrating everything into this one act.
...and I'm a Republican FOR our goverment in general.:(
Yes, but they can then be easily burned to standard MPEG DVD format. And many people have LCD screens or TV connected directly to their PC's.
The next step however, would be to have the equivelant of a DVD ISO because I'd want the "extras" too... that's kind of one of the big points about purchasing/renting a DVD.
Ah, then I digress...
However, yes, they DO get scholarships. Otherwise someone better tell MIT: ;) http://web.mit.edu/finaid/fin_aid/grants.html
They sure seem to have a lot of free time for engineer students. Good to know our tax dollars are going toward such worthy scholarships.

he he... okay, you funny guy you. ;)
I got pwned by the spelling.
Likewise is takes a special bread of mod to mod up a post of just a link to Google translation that take 5 seconds to throw into Google yourself.
That's right up there with the article quote whores.
No offense or trolling intended... but just to point out... how's your link any different than good old fashioned green/blue screen movie magic?
...east babies/fetuses. ;)
Well, you're entitled to your opinion. ;)

No, in Soviet Russia...the virus runs YOU!
(But it runs on everyone equally) ;)

...that's all I have to say.
This from a country that sends the world the majority of spam (2nd being Japan) and eats their own babies.
Wow. I'm sorry.
Man I sure wish I could delete topics you create... cuz I'd sure love to just delete this whole wearisome thing at this point.
Again... at least I have the balls to post with my own ID.

They have... it's called Pay-per-View. ;)
Yes, but they can then be easily burned to standard MPEG DVD format. And many people have LCD screens or TV connected directly to their PC's.

Good or bad, at least I had the balls to post under my ID. ;)
