I recently helped a friend who kept having Windows 10 chew through all his Verizon bandwidth. They live in a rural area and are unable to get DSL, so they're on Verizon's 5gig a month plan. The Anniversary update along with all the live tiles, Update sharing and telemetry information sharing, completely wiped out their monthly bandwidth limit.
I turned on the metering controls to help with that, but this is even better.
This might be cool if Amazon would bother to put in Chromecast support, no one is stopping them. Hulu, Netflix, CBS, HBO, and many other streaming vendors have managed to do it. Without that they are nowhere near worth paying for.
I totally agree. Lack of Chromecast support is very annoying. I ended up buying a Firestick when it was on sale, and have both my Chromecast and Firestick plugged into my HDMI switcher. That way I can control both with my phone. One more step but it makes the best of a bad situation.
The answer is easy. They are not interested in the contents of the terrorist's phone as much as they want a magic key that will unlock anyone's iPhone anywhere.
That is it exactly. This is a high profile case. A major terrorist attack on US soil. What better way to convince the public that there NEEDS to be a backdoor on their devices? They aren't going to let this opportunity go to waste.
That is spot on. My kids and I play Lego games specifically because of the split screen local co-op. That's one of the biggest reasons why it's so much fun. Couch co-op is not dead.
The older people are eeking out what they can until retirement, but at the cost of preventing younger people from having access to jobs where they can build their skills. I fear that in 10 years, our country will be in trouble as the Boomers retire for good and there will be no one left to replace them.

I often wondered to what extent the first Guld war played in stopping the Soviets from the "military" solution, once things began crumbling. When they saw some of their best hardware defeated so handily by the Coalition forces, did that keep them from launching a military strike to preserve the Soviet state? Interesting to think about.
I'm guessing that if Amazon had added it to Google Play Store, rentals would have had to use Google payments where Google gets 30% instead of Amazon. That or it'd work only with Prime, not rentals.

Amazon isn't making you change the "unknown store" setting--that would be Google. Android OS is set to only accept Play Store unless you deactivate that setting.

It's rather cumbersome, but it works. You can't install it straight from Google Play. You have to install the Amazon app and install it inside of that. They make you change the "unknown store" security setting in order to do it. Curious strategy on Amazon's part.
Now if only they would add ChromeCast support... I know, we customers are never happy.
These days, all it takes to shake up the whole publishing industry is to be successful. The whole industry is in sharp decline and everyone knows it, especially those within.
I'd like to think they have a chance. Their goals are certainly noble. But I wouldn't be too optimistic.
The cynical amongst web analytics professionals accuse Google of hiding organic keyword searches from website operators in order to force them into paying for AdWords with its paid keywords.
I was wondering this myself, as someone who is very annoyed with the "(not provided)" entry in my Keywords list in Analytics. I know, hardly a big deal in the grand scheme. Call me selfish.
I hope they replaced their stupid headphone jack with a headset jack. It is SO annoying to have to type in credit cards manually using Square's Credit Card Reader (not to mention the higher fee).
Not to mention that if you have any video purchased from the Google Play store, you can now view it on your tv without a Google TV box.
We have a Roku, and we purchase a lot of videos off Amazon and view it on our tv. We also have a Nexus 7, but can't view our Amazon stuff on our tablet. We have a few movies on Google Play, which we can view on our tablet, BUT NOT our tv. It's been quite annoying. Looks like this will solve some of these problems. Now we just need Amazon Instant Video for Android.

I use it all the time for recovering lost data on crashed windows machines. All my friends think I'm a genius, but no. I just boot into Knoppix and copy their "lost" data onto a thumb drive. Couldn't be easier. Thanks Knoppix!
I think you're onto something there, with the DLC's being more lucrative.
I was one of the "suckers" who bought Mass Effect 1 & 2 when Steam had them on sale. And just like EA predicted, once I reached the end of 2, I wanted to know how it all ended. So not only did they get me as a very reluctant Origin user, but they also have me seriously considering purchasing the Mass Effect 3 DLC's (which are still full price). Much more profitable and it doesn't upset your customer base (well, as much).
This is hardly earth shattering news. A friend of mine uses his iPod Touch as a phone and has for over a year. Wi-fi when it's available, and a 4G hot spot when it's not. Works great and is a great deal cheaper for those who aren't heavy users.
