That's completely retarded. Not impossible, since I don't know the actual Norwegian policies, just idiotic. If Norway was even more humane, would they send out assault/suicide squads armed only with.22 pistols?
Or! You can find the best talent there is, treat your employees with respect, compensate them fairly (or very well if they are particularly valuable) and work from the perspective that a place of work is a place of education where people will gather skills and hopefully work to the best of their ability.
Holy shit dude. With insight like that, any company you start/manage is bound to dominate the market and take over the world!

That's just revisionist bullshit, IMO. When XP came out, everybody was bitching about how it was a lamed-down 2000, with ugly interface, stupid features, etc., and claimed that they wouldn't use it until at least 2 service packs came out. Now everybody likes (as much as it's possible) XP and complain about Vista in exactly the same manner.

I'm keeping the Manhunt cd images for my kids in case the game's outlawed:)
More seriously, although I'm not planning on having kids in the near future (I need to get laid first!), I don't think there would be any problems with regards to violent games if there's a supply of good non-violent ones. Not necessarily games absolutely devoid of any conflict, but could be either those cartoonish games like Psychonauts, or even realistic sports, racing, or flight games. By the time they actually want to play violent games they'll probably be ready for those. I remember I wasn't really comfortable playing Doom when it first came out, and given the choice I rather played something else.
Ah, so you're the reason my SoaP joke was modded redundant. I didn't see this one when I was writing mine. Still, IMHO my version should be modded up too since it's uncensored, exactly like Samuel Jackson references are supposed to be made.
Didn't have Vista crash (at all) during the last 30, or slightly more, days in Vista. So, no data loss. Burned DVDs just fine. Most hardware worked fine too, just had to use drivers other than the latest version for my Zen. Now, it's possible that some drivers didn't work with Vista so I can't comment on that, but otherwise it looks like this guy's just upset that he didn't get his check (or is it a laptop now?).
Oh come on! I'm not saying that having a hidden limit is a good thing, but 5 GB isn't too bad for a wireless connection. As any other slashdotter, I sit online basically all the time, reloading slashdot and downloading random shit off youtube, etc., and my web+mail (IM is completely insignificant) traffic is usually between 1.5-2.5 GB. The maximum was somewhere last year at around 5.3 GB, but that when I downloaded some games from rapidshare:D.
Hmm, the live demo doesn't seem to be working properly in Opera. After loading everything, the screen goes black with just the scale overlays jumping to the middle of the page.
Anyway, I think that's a pretty obvious use of positional data in photos, but the main problem seems to be getting the data attached to the images. It's certainly possible to do this manually, but it would either be too imprecise, or take a ridiculous amount of time to fill out coordinates for each street a photo was taken on. Automatically, there appear to be a few Ricoh cameras with built-in GPS units, and I recall reading something about an add-on for Nikon (?) cameras that would work most of their DSLR cameras.
After some searching, it looks like there's another method for linking the data, which can be (probably) used with any digital camera and various GPS devices. I couldn't find any details, but my guess is that some software would be used to take the location data the GPS unit recorded over time, and compare it to the time the photos were taken. Sounds like it could actually work. Damn, now I need a GPS device:)
What kind of new (or 1 year old) computer can't run all Vista features? For fuck's sake, Aero works fine on Intel GMA graphics chips! 512 megs of RAM will also be enough for most day to day tasks like office work or web browsing. And they don't even make processors as slow as the one I ran Vista on (with all features), a 2.6 @ 2.8 Ghz Northwood P4.
So... if the plaintiffs claim that the computers were advertised as being able to run Vista with all features, then I'm 99.99% sure the computer can run Vista with all features enabled and they're full of it. If, on the other hand, they claim that by "Vista capable" the ad meant that the computer will come with the highest, fully featured version of Vista, then they fail at comprehension and should STFU.
Not to mention that 25,000 hp is way too much. There's no need for a train that goes more than 70 mph. Trains should be limited to 500 hp engines, anyone riding in a train with more power than that is obviously compensating for something.
I'm not a game dev and not planning on becoming one in the near future, but it would be interesting to see some more statistical data on this. As we (should) all know, the simple average is not very useful is cases like this, it'd be nice to at least see the median and standard deviation values. Or a histogram for each of the major categories.

My guess is he might use the Queen's Gambit, but with those ruskies you never know. Plus, Pootin just might also overreact to moves like that.

2 hours? What about 20 hours straight? I'd like to see a more realistic study than the one they managed to produce.
Surely you mean "SamuelFuckingJackson".
Oh, and sorry, I won't call you Shirley again, I know you hate that.
No wait, stop! Never mind, I don't have to ask for it on April 1st (or any other day) to get my posts modded flamebait for no reason.
